  1. I also have to agree that you can't cap the booking. If you sent the STD you kinda have to let them come. I'm sure you'll still be saving a ton of money by doing the DW, and you never know, lots of people cancel last minute. Thank you for posting this though, bc I might re-think my big invite list... I too had only heard of an average of 1/3 of the people coming (usually less) so I was going to invite a lot too! Hope everything works out for you!! Just enjoy all the love!!
  2. Every bride will get flack for the DW. I sure have. I don't think my FI's parents are going to come, and FI is ok with that, so I will be too. We MAY have an AHR if they don't come, but I'm not announcing that until shortly before we leave because I want people to come. Even at-home brides get flack for SOMETHING regarding their wedding. So don't stress about it. It's all about you baby.
  3. I just wanted to give a bit of an update here: Everything has been working out great so far. We decided to have all my celebrations (shower, bachlorette, etc) AFTER her wedding so we don't have to try to plan all those with eachother. This way, I also get the summer and fall months for my parties, which are MUCH better weather up here Canada for get-togethers. I gave my Mom my wedding dress design first and my sister will have to come up with something different. haha. Also, while she wanted to be married in June, her date is not near my 30th birthday in June, which will obv. be an important celebration for me. So far, so good! I'll be keeping ya posted!! Thanks for your support ladies!
  4. Will you have a wedding party? I'd only worry if she really clashed with the wedding party. Even if she did, it may not be worth offending her. If it really bothers you, then just talk to her. Explain that you feel bad that you didn't mention it up-front, but that you wanted the parents to co-ordinate. Be aware that taupes and tans don't look good on everyone (put me in them and I look horrid!) so try to give her options.
  5. Wow! Great score! So exciting to see the replica's work out!!
  6. I just know your wedding day was fantastic!!! Helps when we get regular updates from your representatives in the SB I'm so happy that our positive thinking helped keep Rick 'the dick' away from your day!! I cannot wait to see the photos and hear all about it!! Congratulations!!!!
  7. Oh and I forgot this new thing I got at a craft store! (in the scrapbooking section) It kind of looks like one of those white-out correction tape dispensors but it has a non-permanent sticky residue on it. You use it the same way you would the white out thingy so its really quick. and the sticky residue lies flat like tape or you can use your finger to just rub it off without damaging any paper. looks like this: Scrapbook Adhesives: Tape Runners
  8. Hi Erika, I recommend you use non-permanent double sided tape. It lies nice and flat and you can re-position if you need to. You can get it at office supply stores or craft stores. Other options are rubber cement (which is a bit messy and needs to dry) or that UHU sticky stuff that looks like chewing gum (great stuff but doesn't lie as flat as the tape). Are your invites printed on thick or thin paper?
  9. Thanks so much for this review Maureen. I will def tell my guests to pack their bathing suits in the carry on!
  10. Heatherrr!! I heart your planning thread! Your colours are so chic. Those cocktail napkins are so cute! What does the one in the lower left hand corner say? Your wedding is going to be so awesome, I am beyond excited for you! Can't wait to see the pics when you return!!! 6 days! Eeeee!
  11. Hey Sparkles, What are you doing after your reception? Everything I read says the private restaurant/bar ends at 10:30pm That seems so early to me! Are you going to the disco?
  12. I actually like the way #1 looks on you. #3 is a really nice dress and looks good on you but I think #1 is the most flattering

I think they said it's because they don't want to music to be too loud, and also Nicole mentioned that the equipment isn't very easy to operate. Nicole said their equipment plays cds but doesn't hook up to Ipods as far as she knows. I would guess that the Beach and Suites use the same dj equipment but not totally sure. Hmm, good to know. Thanks
  14. What are you guys doing for your reception music? Ipod? Resort DJ? Band? I want to get a good DJ but it seems most of the past Jamaican brides went the Ipod route...
  15. I feel your pain! I'm looking for a different DJ than the resort DJ too - as my resort's DJ has bad reviews. If anyone had a good DJ in Jamaica in the Montego Bay area, please help!
  16. This wedding looks spectacular and you have been very helpful with everyone's questions. Thanks so much!
