Did you meet your fiance online?
SunPrncss85 replied to nicmicj's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
My FI and I met on Myspace, lol, of all the sites to meet on. He found me on a mutual friends site and sent me an email.. The rest is basically history after a few months of emailing and talking on the phone we went out on our first date and have been inseperable since. I could never have imagined that I would find my soulmate online. So now after 2 years together we are getting married. -
Congrats and welcome from another future Mrs. Smith

Lakerbride, My fiance and I are getting married at Dreams Tulum in March 2010. The new printed packages are not out yet and I have been told are not going to change too much. We have booked th wedding specifically through the resort. If you email the wedding planner she can email you all the forms you will need for booking. You just fill them out and send them back. The wedding planner at DT has been very helpful and gotten back with us on all questions very quickily. Best wishes in your planning!

What's your first dance song?
SunPrncss85 replied to DRbride's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
cbnvb9 we did not get to see it. We were on vacation in the DR the night it was on and we both forgot to DVR it. "Run" is a great song as well and I love Adele. Great song choices! -
Hey ladies, What song are you guys dancing with your dads too? Is there etiquette to choosing a song? Do I chose it or do I ask him to?
-
Welcome Amanda and Dan! Congrats! I love that you are getting married at Disney World, how fun. Good luck and Best wishes in planning your perfect day.

What's your first dance song?
SunPrncss85 replied to DRbride's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I love the Brad Paisley song, "Then," we actually talked about the song because one of our first dates was a Brad Paisley concert and we both love his music. But in the end we have decided to go with one of both of our all time favorite songs by and artist we both love. We chose George Strait's song, "I cross my heart," the song is the perfect tempo and has the perfect words. What do you guys all think? (For those of you that have seen George Strait's movie "Pure Country," it is the last song he sings in the movie) -
Has anyone looked into Scuba Certification in Riviera Maya?
SunPrncss85 replied to MarissaDC's topic in Newbies!!
I believe that you can get at least temporarily certified at certain resorts. I know that the Dreams resorts offer this. If I remember correctly it costs between 150 and 200 dollars for 2 or 3 practice dives in the pool and then you are on to the real thing in the ocean. Another good option that is similar to scuba diving is "snuba" diving. The difference is that you can only go down a certain distance and instead of the air tank being on your back it is above you floating on a miniature raft. I "snuba" dove last time I was in Mexico and it cost me 75 dollars for 45 minutes of going 35 feet deep. It was well worth it. I hope this helped at least a little bit. Good luck and Happy Diving! -
Welcome Jaclyn! This is an awesome site, it has helped me so much in a weeks time with planning my wedding as well. Good luck and Best wishes to you and yours!

Newly engaged and not knowing where to begin
SunPrncss85 replied to SunPrncss85's topic in Newbies!!
Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes!! Over the last few days this sight has been beneficial so far. I have gotten information on easier travel tips as well, info on Dreams Tulum and the OOT. Heading in the right direction and enjoying the wedding planning so far. -

A lot of people spend a lot on the bag but I personally wouldnt use a bag with someone elses wedding logo outside of their wedding events, so this was a good way to accomplish both a beach bag for the trip without spending a lot. Pashminas were a huge hit. Old Navy online had flip flops for like 2 bucks, HUGE HIT. Everyone wore them to the wedding, and I got white ones. I ordered a bunch of womens size 7-8, 8-9, and then mens 11-12, 12-13 and that covered everyone, since Flip flops dont have to fit perfectly. Other hits: Playing Cards, Brochures of what was to expect (Vistaprint) Advil Dramamine (we had to take a boat to the wedding local) monogramed water bottles Things I would have done differently: The $2 spanish phrase book from amazon was cute, but it was really old, so the expressions were like "have you seen my tophat?" all the cutesy favors like candles and starfish, it was fine but it added up the cost and I don't know if people used them Other than that, we did little frames but used them as place cards for the wedding, and I dont know if people took those with them or what. I am sure i will think of more things that were in our bags as time goes on... Oh, and we had to pack 2 extra full size luggages to get it all there. I dont trust mailing to mexico, especially not bulk items because they will seize anything that looks like it is for commerce, ie to be sold. I was told that things can simply not make it there, with no recourse. Proceed with caution. So we each had 2 checked luggages and our carry ons. No biggie, it didnt cost us extra. HTH! These are great suggestions. Thank you and everyone else who has been so informative on the concept of items in the OOT bags. It really helps in the planning of the bags. Is there an approximate amount that people are spending on these? Just to get an idea of how much to plan in my budget for the OOT bags?

2010 Brides
SunPrncss85 replied to leogurl's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hey everyone, We are working with my stepmom who is a cheapcarribean expert as well as Auroria at the Dreams Tulum Resort to come up with a date for our wedding that is both free for our wedding and has enough room for our guests. Its a bit frustrating because we are now 10 months out and I am feeling a bit stressed with this not falling into place as fast as I would like it to. Have you had better experience with a travel agent or dealing with the resort yourself? -
Welcome! I hope that you find this forum to be as helpful in the early stages of your wedding planning as I am.
