  1. It siad these were domestic except for Delta, where it was specifically mentioning international. Does anyone know the international rates of these airlines?
  2. Booking/Invitiatioin Question We sent the STD in the beginning of May and included our wedding website. I notice that there aren't a lot of hits on the site and no one has really asked or emailed about booking. My sister is our TA and she hasn't been contacted either. I know I have A LOT of time left, but I was curious when guests starting booking. Additionally, if I don't see anything by January should I send the invitiations earlier than the traditional 2 months (our wedding is May 1, 2010) Feedback would be VERY helpful. Thanks =)
  3. Paraisobeachbride2009 - WOW...that was perfectly written and not long winded at all =) Thanks for sharing =)
  4. Thanks, that definitely gives me hope. I could always go back and ask to NOT have Gilda. I just wish she tried to work with me. She was honest alright, but I didn't mind. I need that. But I had 5 other girls with me, maybe that helps in the bad experience, keep it a small group... The prices were unbeatable but the whole experience was bad =(
  5. I like both, but I definitely like the WTOO more. It looks like it's a very flattering dress. Good luck, I hope you find it somewhere to try on =)

I've been on here for less than a week and it's already helped make a tough decision much easier. Thank you all so much! I think that's the best way to go about it. We orginally had said well we should pick a time where people would want a vacation AKA Winter. But after looking with my sister who's our TA, she ran prices and showed us the difference a week makes and whatnot. We decided on May 1, where we are down there the last week in April. Right after the school break and the prices dropped tremendously. All in all we based ours around the cost. Hope that helps =) AND CONGRATS!!!
  7. Congratulations and Welcome. Good Luck Planning. This is the most exciting part =)

FSIL originally had her time off approved (she works for the USPO) and now they say she has to work on July 3rd or she will be fired. They were supposed to leave on the 2nd, and now they are leaving on the 4th. So I have been working with the TA to change their room reservations etc, and they had to pay Frontier $300 in change fees. YUCK! FFIL was pissed! Luckily TA rebooked them and they got a $240 refund on the room, which I was very happy with! FFIL is paying for us and them, so he asked hey, maybe we can get a refund too. Although I felt bad for asking, but All he can do is say no! RIght? Well, I just sent an email saying thank you etc. and BTW, any chance they can get a refund or upgrade? It can't hurt to ask, right? I am sure he will come back and say Hell to the no! But At least I asked. Have you all looked how cheap things are right now? It is insane. Well, at least we are all going and the Swine flu is all over. Has anyone asked, or gotten any refunds in the difference in prices, or upgrades? Just curious. Oh, and I didn't want to be greedy, I just asked for our parents who are paying for our families for the refund in difference or upgrades. Even though we could have booked the freakin Grand for our entire stay with what we paid for our portion. haha! Ha! Oh well! I am just happy we are going and everyone is able to join us. And my Father in Law is happy I asked! I am such a dang people pleaser! Uhhh! Hugs! Bess Bess - I just got back from checking out the place and was moved to the Lindo, b/c the Del Mar is still closed. I did hear of guest getting refunds. However, I know that if you book into a group rate, you won't see any refunds from the TA, but the hotel might upgrade your room. They aren't at Max yet, so I am sure there is still room to move people, it just depends if you want everyone close together. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

What are your thoughts? Thanks! We just got back from the Lindo and saw a wedding on the beach Saturday. It was HOT at 5 pm still. I think the fans are a good idea, plus it's a bonus at dinner/reception. I was a little shocked at the topless women and speedos next to the wedding area. I would think that people who watch would put some clothes back on...but that didn't happen. My fiance now wants to get married in the Chapel after seeing that. And he was Gung Ho about the beach. Lesson learned...
  10. Hey ladies, Just a quick little note about a bridal center I went to last week. I heard good things about RK Bridal on 39th btw. 8th & 9th. Unfortunately, my experience was not so good at all. I had the consultant Gilda, and she was HORRIBLE. Everything about the experience was bad. I told her A-line, strapless, ruching and not a lot of beadwork/lace. She had me try on 7 mermaid style dresses. My size 10 butt did not look remotely good in these dresses. After I had my sister and friend look for A-Line (on their own- because Gilda didn't guide them), the last 2 dresses I found were on the right track. Unfortunately, we wasted so much time with the other dresses, she said "No more dresses, I have to clean my dressing room before 6:45 for 7 pm close." My friend said I'll help you clean up if we can do 1 more dress, and she let her clean her dressing room...HOW HORRIBLE IS THAT! I just wanted to share my experience in the event any NY, NJ or CT brides go to this place, request to NOT have Gilda. She kept pushing this 1 dress and didn't listen to my feedback. She said you just need a bigger size and then it won't be as tight on your butt, meanwhile that's the style of the dress. UGH!!! I was a little discouraged, but I know I have time on my side. After my 5th place, I am still searching and hoping to finally fall in love. I have yet to go "OMG, this is IT!" Good luck to all!!!
  11. I love the idea of his clothes. Like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she's wearing ONLY his tie and heels...HOT!!! All of these ideas are great, here's a few more. ***How about a back shot of you in his favorite team's hat looking to the side, enough to show the side of you w/o a bra. ***The naughty liberian look (simply done with a button down and messy bun) How about cheap stores like a Strawberries or something like that...they'll have cute little panty sets. Even novelty shops have clearance sales and it's not like you'll only wear it for the shoot ;-) Good Luck!!!
  12. Wow, that's just ridiculous. God Bless you for dealing with that. I would have laughing and said...Clean It Yourself!!! I hope my girls don't think I'm bad. And I know I want to do something extra special for my MOH, but for you to get the same gift as the others was wrong too! Sorry you had to go through that, lesson learned for all!!!
  13. Yelling and laughing was the theme last night. I guess Spencer is doing what he does best, which is creating this reality persona that WE ALL HATE!!! So for that he gets credit. My brother broke down laughing when we was on the phone with NBC, because my brother doesn't know who Speidi are and the way he was talking to NBC made it sound like he was Justin Timberlake or somthing. It's so stagged and fake, but that's what makes up reality TV. Sometimes they re-shoot to get a better take =) Enjoy the show, I know I will still be hooked!!!
  14. I agree with everyone. Let your dad be involved. We chose a song from Paul Simon (who my father had me listen to growing up), it's called Father & Daughter and it's beautiful. A little more up tempo than a traditional song, but it's US!!! Make it special and have him be a part of that aspect =) Good Luck.
  15. Congratulations on your engagement. Enjoy this time as it's one of the happiest moments in life =) Welcome to the boards, anything and everything is here. Good luck planning.
  16. Hi all, Has anyone had a Cigar Roller for the cocktail hour, or any part of the day?? We are getting married at the Iberostar Del Mar and I saw one in the lobby on my trip last May and I wondered if you can hire them for an hour. Anyone with experience, this would be a big help. Thanks
  17. ATTENTION DANA: Read this review...it changed my mind. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t43467
  18. Wow, so it's a good thing I signed on today and saw this post. I just received an email from Michael about how he's taking over for the other photographer's (that I was emaling with). I am so so so sorry that your day was affected by such a jerk and unprofessional photographer. I hope your family was able to get some shots in which you can edit and alter. Thank you for your review, as I will NOT be using him now. Thanks again!!!
  19. Although some airlines and customs may not check But...for all traveling with these items in your luggage, it wouldn't hurt to bring receipts. I have heard a horror story about the advil and mini liquor bottles were held up and they sat at customs for a few hours. Even if you get stopped, you can show receipts for EVERYTHING. Just a helpful hint. Good luck shopping!!!

Although I did see a shirt maker and Michael's and they have been handing out 40% coupons on (1) item like it's their job. So for a $225 it may be worth it with 40% off...But it doesn't include the T-shirts. We are doing our last names on the front. Team Finley (me) Team Chierchie (him)
  21. Thanks for all of the info ladies. The map is great, I will make colored copies at work (shh...don't tell) and put them in the welcome bags =) Anyone at the Del Mar June11-15th? We are going down for a visit, to check things out.

Honestly, I think it would be difficult to convey that. Personal question here, what's the harm in inviting them to the DW? If you are paying for travel expenses I understand then, but if not what's 'why not'? If you invite them to the DW you can absolutely invite them to the shower. If people want to see you get married and share in that experience it's a bonus. Out of those aunts, uncles and cousins...would they come?? Again totally personal question, just throwing it out there. My motto is, the more the merrier.
  23. OMG, I can not begin to express how sorry I am. After the planning and expectations it must be so hard. I hope another location was able to accomdate. A friend of ours was at the Dreams Cancun and they moved it to Punta Cana. Some guests couldn't change flights and did not end up going, so now they are having a post wedding celebration here in a few weeks. Good luck to you all, my thoughts are with you and I hope things work out.
