  1. Linda, I have a friend who does hair/makeup. they do a great job and prices are great too! Fresh Face Forward
  2. My mom, bridal party and MIL are throwing me a shower. I am all about it. For YEARS I have been attending showers, weddings and all that go with it. We are starting from scratch and need the things we registered for. I understand that people are coming and spending money, but they are doing this because they love you and your fiance and don't want to miss your special day. But this is just my opinion!

Even better...I'm getting very impatient waiting for my dress to come in! I am in the same boat. They said late January, early February...but I can't wait any longer....I am so anxious.
  4. So my BD was on Monday and it was GREAT! So relaxing and really enjoyable. My photographer was AWESOME! She tells you exactly what to do and where to look and to RELAX. It's all about confidence. Work it like you own it and you'll be fine. ;-) I'll post teasers when I get them.
  5. Welcome Lauren, we are here for you. You'll find a lot of info in this thread and others. Good luck planning.

  7. Emmers, I wasn't even thinking about place card until Amy had mentioned it. Karla and Reyna haven't said anything, I guess it can't hurt. But it's just another thing to worry about. When people get assigned a table they don't get assigned a seat. how will they know who is sitting where. Unless if we put the name and table number on the card and flip it over with the meal choice...it's still not that viewable. I am going to wait this one out, until she says something...UGH!
  8. Placed the order today, Beige Linen, Classic Comfort Fit...we'll see how long it takes and I will post pictures when they come in =)
  9. Sungoddess - I am still waiting for mine (they said January) so I have no advice. But I am sure the next time around will feel better. If you love the dress, they will make it fit your body than you'll love it! Hang in there!
  10. The difference is the the amount of people and the restaurant in which you are using. We are doing the private in the Italian, which used to be the Tropical. The Tropical had steak on the menu which is why I fought for steak rather than lamb chops or veal. It switched after I have booked, so they are honoring the old meat menu option. I hope that helps clear some things up. I know the more you have and with a private dinner it needs to be a set menu.
  11. Thanks for the pics...still not sure on the color. I think I am leaning towards English Beige and Pure Light Beige for the groomsmen pants. Did anyone order the linen shirts? Or did you get them somewhere else?

Because we are around 65 + people we needed a pre-fix menu, but I told them that's not an option. We can't choose (1) meal for everyone. So they gave us (2) options - Steak and Fish (Grouper) and if people don't eat either, to let her know. Like Chicken or vegans. So far all the RSVPs have chosen one or the other....
  13. If the Invitations didn't go out yet, you can do this on the bottom of the RSVP with check boxes for your options. We did this and everyone have filled this out so far =) It's dark, because I took it with my camera phone...but you get the idea.
  14. That's why sisters are sooo great. That's really sweet of you to help her out. Congrats to your sis and Happy Planning to you both. I am getting married in the Riveria Maya, 1/2 hour south of Cancun, 20 minutes north of Playa Del Carmen. The area is gorgeous, I have been there a total of 6 times and I LOVE IT! If you choose the Iberostar - I can help...Ask away!

Far and Away : Style 878 From AllureBridals.com Private Label By G I love the first one since it is a destination wedding, but I do love the mermaid style too! I have tried both on, and I love them both...help! They are both very pretty, but you need to take into consideration the material and time of the year you are getting married. That first one is silk looking and that might be hot and clingy. But overall I like 1, if you are comfortable in that style.
  16. I second Studio Suits...that's who we are using. Studiosuits.com, Custom Suits | Designer Suits Also, our invitations were done my a family friend and are EXACTLY what we wanted and perfect. pages from a notebook And I bought MOH and the moms beach bags from Hannson Ellis at a GREAT price. Brown Eco Jute Tote Bag
  17. I don't think I can say anything that these ladies haven't already. Overall, you will do what is best for you and the truth will prevail. Sending you lots of hugs during this rough time and hoping you can work through this. On a completely separate note ~ hoping this will make you smile ~ you were a BEAUTIFUL bride and your pictures are amazing. Not knowing what this admin looks like, she can't hold a candle next to you, regardless.
  18. Amy, I haven't heard anything about a place card holder. That's new to me. I have about 65 people and I couldn't choose just 1 meal for them so they gave me the option of two - Steak or Fish. So on the RSVPs we added this to the response. So far it's pretty even so I am GLAD for the choice. But I didn't realize I had to identify who's getting what. I would assume the waiters would ask once everyone is seated. But now, I think I'll ask Karla. =) If you do use the cards, I don't think it's cheesy to reuse. Maybe you can buy a starfish stamp and for the first dinner have no stamp and the wedding dinner put a stamp in the corner to make them look different. But keep in mind they may get dirty, (drinks, food) if left on the table. Designate someone to collect or just print on cardstock and print both nights. Cardstock is not expensive at all!
  19. Britt...we keep looking at the invitations (lol) I don't know about my shower, but my friend and one co-worker said they got the invitation...I told them, it's a SURPRISE don't tell me anymore. I know my mom, sister, bridal party and MIL are working really hard and I don't want to spoil anything. I don't even go on the registry to look at anything =) (which is SOOO hard to not look) Good Luck with DJ Bob, he wasn't as responsive with me, so that's why we switched, but we are music freaks and wanted a little more control. The DJ we are using as the wireless laptop to download anything if he forgot or anything. DJ Bob only wanted 10 songs we like and would make the rest of the decision and the FI is tooo anal about his music for that to fly... But good luck, I have read good reviews on him.
  20. That will definitely help. 24 is great! And people will surprise you once those invites go out =) Happy Friday at least!
  21. Your pics are soooo beautiful. You made a very pretty bride and very good looking couple. I love all of the things you incorporated. Are the bridesmaid dress's Bill Levkof? They look like mine in tiffany blue...we are doing the starfish necklaces also. I wouldn't worry...you pictures are great! Looks like you had a good time too, I found myself smiling a lot when viewing them. Congrats!
  22. What a cute idea, I hope I have some extra material now =)
  23. Leah, That's great about the DJ. The response time and everything was very simple, fast and professional. I liked Ivan a lot. I just did the Western Union deposit of half =) So far so good, 29 RSVP's back 20 = Yes and 9 =No. But we have 51 booked, so we are getting there =) Only 1 RSVP wasn't booked, so that was a number we didn't have =) It's my college girlfriend but she wasn't saying anything and I didn't want to press. How's the semister so far.

Next I need to do the wedding party gifts/OOT bags, guests OOT bags, find the shoes of my dreams, tailor the grooms suit, find something for my Mom to wear, order flower girl dresses, book the honeymoom, loose 15 more lbs. and execute all of it and still keep my mind! Oh and I have 3 showers, 2 bachorette parties and 2 weddings between now and May 28th! Thank God I found this forum, I don't think I would have made it this far with out you Ladies! I'm tired just thinking of it! WOW, that is a lot going on. Have faith, if you're organized you will get it all done. The dresses may jump up on the priority list especially if anything needs to be ordered. Lots of ideas for OOT bags and wedding party gifts. I am doing Coach wristlets for my girls, pashminas, and flip flops. The guys are getting Reef Sandals, sunglasses and maybe a Cigar. We averaged about $85 a person and have 9 attendees. =) The OOT bags we haven't started because RSVPs are still trickling in and I don't want to over order too much! We don't have the extra cash lying around, lol! We're here to help if you need it!!!
