Should I book now OR wait????
caribbeanLover replied to Jefiner's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
From personaly experince with traveling I found booking closer to the date much cheaper. This is the main reason I didn't go, or have't gone with a TA yet. Mtl to Grand Palladium Punta Cana is $1278 but the TA is quoting me $1500!! so far I'm allowing the guest to book when they feel the price is good to them, or they notice it wont change. The thing too with the TA is most people don't have that kind of cash laying around, they need to safe.TA ask for a deposit for a month or so and then a full payment. I know my guest can't do that right now. -

If you are thinking about using a TA DO IT!!!
caribbeanLover replied to Outdoor_girl1010's topic in Honeymoon Forum
Thank you for your story. I am so happy the TA was able to be a great help. Unfortunately I am not that lucky as of yet. I look at the website to book the back and they are set a price, let's say 1200$ but when I call a TA and get a quote they give me $13-1500 pp.So currently it isn't worth it. So far I've set up a website for our guest to check out gives them all the info they need to book like a TA would do. I have high hopes for the TA I contact through BDW. -
Welcome! there is tons of info! Is there a place either of you like to travel to allot? Might be the place to start. Happy planning (the bride is lucky to have a friend like you!)

welcome! Most of us here feel the pain your going through, we have all been there at one time or another. I picked Jamaica, sent my invites out. Then realized that it wasn't a place for our wedding. So we had to notify everyone of the change (how embarrising!) I'm sure the two of you will come to an agreement soon. I personnaly like All-Inclusive for the price aspect. Your not taking your wallat out to pay for a drink or food. Just to tip or buy yourself gifts. Maybe you should point that out to the FI as this would def be helpful for the people who don't have allot of cash. Milter Mrs had a great spot, Turks. I find it a little pricy but it has total class and there are AL and some that are not. Good luck, try to enjoy the planning, after all it's one of the best parts of being a bride!

I think I'll feel so much better once we have the date set. I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me while I stumble my way through this Mel Congrats and welcome! I love Cuba, we go every year!! Have you decided on a resort? Did you choose Varadero? Well as you seen this site is a huge help in planning, you'll find tons of ideas. Good luck with all the planning.

My idea for presenting our rings...

I was brainstorming a while ago about ways to include her, considering her young age... I was thinking we could find a chain necklace & put our rings on it & have her wearing it around her neck. We could have her walk down the aisle to us (with the help of my younger sister--she's 11) I could then have my sister remove the necklace from our daughter's neck & have her give us the rings. I don't know...? Does this seem corny? Or cute? I was thinking it could be a creative way to incorporate our daughter into our ceremony & also let my (only) sister play a role---she's too young to be an actual MOH...so, what do you ladies think? Obviously, we'd make sure my sister or someone else is watching Sienna the whole time with the necklace on, so she doesn't end up strangling herself or anything horrific like that! I think this idea is so cute! Go for it!! your daughter and sister will love those pics when they get older! -

I have the weddingStar book and it gives me good directions on putting them in there. I got the ones where it's a tap light, we wouldn't have a problem keeping them on.

I'm testing to see if mine works, I've been having a hard time as well

Thank you, I was unaware of this problem! I hope it's not a problem anymore. It's just not right! As a bride, we choose what we like and want, not something forced upon.

We didn't have wedding games but hopefully will have games each day that people could join in if they wanted to - trying to get all of the guests to get to know each other before the wedding. I didn't think about that! guest thinking I took up their time on the beach. After all it is my wedding, and it is the reason they are there! I would kind feel like I'm cheating my guest out of a wedding if i told them to have free time during our wedding. I understand they are making a vaca out of it. But the guest probably weren't have gone if it wasn't our wedding. I wouldn't worry about that part. I haven't even looked up the games yet, just top of my head.. Bride and groom stand back to back with one shoe of their own one hand, and the other person shoe in the other (bride and groom each of their own shoe and their spouse shoe) the guest get to ask question, like: Who do you think is better in bed? Well I think me, so I'll left my shoe up,The FI will probably think himself so he will left his shoe up. Who does the cleaning: Both of us would put my shoe up! That's just one game I know of now, but if you google, you'll find a ton of ideas. I like your idea. I'll be doing a few things during the week to for the guest to know each other, just don't know what yet. -
MilitaryMrs.s-to be I love that idea!! what a good one, Done! we'll do that. I have a funny feeling she said yes for the first dance at the restaurant but when I get there she will say I can't. I've been trying to come up with a another idea where to have the first dance. I love it!! I might even bring cheap paper laterens. I'm always buy lcd lights we can through them in the lanterens for light if there isn't any!

Good question, one I that had been planning in my head for weeks, so I said at first that people would have 'free time' if they wanted to change back into their swimsuits or whatever, they could do that. Then make a time like an hour before dinner to meet at a bar for cocktails. Then the MOH told me we couldn't do that, it's a wedding! lol so we came up with: The ceremony will be until 3 after all the signing is done. Then there is pictures.. let's say for an hour. All the guest will want to take pictures too. And I'll add them in some. Then we have cocktails that is included in the wedding package. We will then head over to a bar it should be around 4:30 now. I had an idea to have a few wedding games go one between 4:30 and 6,which then dinner will start. sound ok? -
