Oh, is anyone going to get the light up dance floor? I was thinking of getting it just to add some extra lighting to the area, since it is kind of dark, and thought it would look pretty. I know it is not necessary since we are already on the deck, but was looking at it as more of a decoration and for "special affects". I think some of my guests may enjoy that. I'm also trying to decide if the cold fireworks are worth it. Do they only go off one time, or does the DJ set them off periodically? I guess that is a question for the DJ. I think we are going with DJ Mannia. They got such good reviews on this forum!

What is your table setup going to look like? I think we are going to have about 4 or 5 round tables and then a sweatheart table (if they have that option). But cocktail table are interesting and wonder if we should throw a couple of those in for after dinner (??) Is anyone going to have lounge furniture?

My MOH was thinking of having a shower for me at a local tea house for High Tea. It would be a private event in a nice environment. However, it is $25 per person. With the guest list at about 30 it is not possible for her to pay for the guests. Is it inappropriate to ask the guests to pay for their own lunch?

But I don't know if I should get everyone all drunk on Tequila shots before the reception even starts...ha! Also, I think I have a lot of whimpy friends/family when it comes to shots. A foofoo drink will probably be better. But I do like how the blue looks!

I considered just going for a bright yellow or green to make it stand out. Like in a martini glass most likely. I have also seen tequila tasting set up with a blue martini glass with lemon wedges in it, looks super pretty - if you don’t know what I mean I will dig up the picture and post it here Happy planning! Are you planning on having the signature drink during the reception or the cocktail hour? I ask because you had said that you would have blue overlays. Are you using the blue overlays at the cocktail hour too?

I know I posted this question before, but I don't think I got any responses and figured I will ask it again since there are some new brides. Is anyone going to use the cocktail hour at DRC? If so, where are you planning on having it? I had thought we might do the garden area because it would be a change in scenery and this way the guests would not all be watching us take our photos...ha! But I am having a hard time picturing how it would be set up. Just wondering what everyone else is planning on doing. For those of you who have chosen to use it towards a welcome dinner instead, what does that mean? Will you have a set up similar to the cocktail hour?

Signature cocktail recipe ideas?
SDbeachgirl replied to nicitica's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Funny, I came on to this blog tonight to post the same thing! However, the resort is going to make the drink so I'm sure they have suggestions, but just wanted to see what everyone else was doing. The only thing is, I can't stand tequila. So I'm looking for a blue drink with rum or vodka, I think. -

Ana said the resort can do a signature drink for the cocktail hour, at no additional charge. I guess that makes sense, since it is open bar, but just thought would be extra cool if they would walk around and hand out "blue" drinks or whatever type of tropical drink I come up with. I might just have to start a new post to see what drink others have used as a signature drink! I asked Ana, but she didn't answer all of my questions (shocking!)

On the positive side those overlays were quoted at USD 10, a much better bang for the buck in my opinion Happy planning! Boo, Did you say that the wooden chairs are $7/chair? Do you know if you can use them for the ceremony and the reception? I really like the way they look in the photos too.

I would have to pay extra to get things off of the gold menu. Is that correct? As for the flowers which one of the documents that you sent is included in the love package? Can I choose between any of the bouquets and centerpieces of the pictures you sent me or do only certain ones come with the love package? (She sent me a couple of attachments but did not say which bouquets went with the love package.) Also do you have any of the pictures of the wedding cakes that are included in the love package? Also last question. If I have under 40 people am I able to have the buffet option for reception if so can I get a menu of the options for the buffet? I know those are a lot of questions girls but if you just have one could you let me know. The wedding is getting closer and I am getting a little stressed because I have not picked anything out for the wedding. I'm doing the ultimate package so I didn't really pay attention to what came with the Love package. Sorry. But I might be able to answer some of your questions... As for the cake, Ana told me to send her pictures of what I like and she will see if they can match it. I think we have a choice between vanilla and tres leches cake. I think I am choicing the vanilla. I haven't decided on style yet. I've been trying to incorporate starfish and shells into my theme, so I may look for something like this. We can also bring our own cake decorations. So maybe I will do that if it is easier than trying to explain. I'm attaching the buffet options AMResorts Corporate Deluxe All Inclusive Banquet Kit1.doc

There are so many a la carte restaurants, and you can even do a la carte for lunch, so I'm sure folks will eat at the buffet but probably not as much as at some other resorts. I personally think that the plated dinner sounds nice, but on the other hand with the buffet you get more choices. I think your guests will be happy either way! Hmm, everyone seems to think the buffet is a better option. Maybe I will do this. It will certainly be easier because I have people who don't eat meat, people who don't eat seafood, and complete Vegans. Ha! I just wasn't in love with the buffet options. Also, I liked the idea of everyone getting a little individual creme burlee. That comes with one of the plated dinners. Is anyone worried that the food will get cold outside? I guess since it is warm out, maybe that isn't a problem. I would just hate if the food got too cold.

Has anyone decided on the menu? I can't decide on the plated dinners vs the buffet. The plated dinners look a little more gourmet but a buffet might be better so that there is something that everyone will like. I'm just thinking that everyone might be buffett'ed out from being at the resort all week.

I'm considering going barefoot during the beach ceremony. However, I wanted to get normal heels for the reception. They wouldn't be too tall, but maybe 2-3 inches. If I have my dress altered to work with those shoes, would I have a hard time walking in the sand barefoot? I don't want to trip. How should I do this? My mom thinks I shoud get very short heels or flip flops for the reception. That is always a possibility but I'm not sure if it is my first choice. What is everyone else doing? Of if there are any past brides reading this, what did you do?? My dress came in but am undecided on the shoes, so haven't made an appt for my first fitting.

The receptions can be at the same time though.

Random question - my reception is on the deck like the one in the slideshow - I haven't had a chance to ask Ana - but do you girls know if the lights in the palm trees would be an extra charge? The lights in the palm trees are permanent and are there when there is not a wedding. I believe for the reception they use tiki torches. It is free with the ultimate package. I"m not sure if you have to rent them for other packages. We also are going to pay $30 per table (I think) for lights underneith and are looking into the lit up dance floor. I want to make sure there is enough lights! Though the bride in the slide show didn't have any extra lights and it was actually lighter in the photos than I had pictured.

It looks like they removed the lounge chairs underneith the palapas! I'm so happy! I also didn't realize we would be walking down those stairs. I pictured having to walk behind the bar around around the palapas to get to where the aisle was. So this is good....as long as I don't trip down the stairs. Ha!

I love this song by Enya and am considering using this to walk down the aisle. Though I love her voice, I think I want to walk down to a song without vocals. I've heard on Youtube some beautiful versions of the song with a piano and violin. I'm just wondering if anyone knows where I can get a high quality copy of this song. I wish I was going to have a live musician!

Hey guys, Just wondering if any of you had thought of having a signature drink at your reception or cocktail hour? I saw some really cool photos of a wedding where the guests were all drinking this bright blue drink. It looked so cool! Anyhow, I sent an email to Ana asking if the resort has a signature drink. I'm sure most of my guests would prefer wine or something a little less crazy, but I think it would be fun to start them off with this.
