  1. Your pictures are amazing! And it looks like everyone had an absolute blast. Oh, I love seeing everyone's pictures - it reminds me why DW are the way to do it! Congrats!
  2. Wow, I just have to say that your ceremony site was beautiful! I'm sorry you had such a rough go with the travel agency, but I am glad that everything worked out nicely in the end.
  3. Congrats and welcome! It's easy to get lost in the sea of resorts out there - particularly Cancun. I did a bunch of research on that area as well and I have to say that Moon Palace is simply gorgeous and probably my favorite, but all three places are wonderful. I suppose it comes down to what all you are wanting/needing. I know some places in the area do not allow outside photographers for instance. (I think Moon Palace was one of those.) Some do not allow children, etc, etc. Anyway, I'm sure you'll find all the info you need here and you have lots of time! Good luck.
  4. Congrats and welcome to the forums!
  5. Welcome, Heather! Congrats on the engagement.
  6. Yes, I think white would be elegant also - or possibly cream, and I love the idea of details lying in the wrap for the bouquet. If you're looking for drama, you could go with a dark color. What type of look are you going for?
  7. I think we'll wait until after the ceremony to take pictures because I love the excitement from when the bride and groom see each other for the first time and I want the guests to share that, too!
  8. We are paying for the BM dresses, flower girl dress and GM attire. We only have 3 attendants each, so it's not too terribly much. Though we have yet to pick out the dresses and such, I think I'm going to cap the budget at $150 for the dresses. Guys are just wearing khaki pants and white shirts.
  9. I think I read in some magazine that the proper DW "etiquette" is to have some sort of welcome dinner/meeting. I, personally, plan to have a welcome dinner for guests only because they are traveling so far and spending so much money. I want to let them know that I really appreciate that! Plus, I want to make sure everyone is clear on the wedding day schedule and such. However! I think it is a matter of preference and if you aren't interested in a welcome dinner, then it's no biggie if you don't have one. I don't think people EXPECT you to have one or anything like that.

  11. I love the convertible ones! I considered picking something like that for my bridesmaids also so they had some variety.
  12. I thought about it, but with all the stuff I'm lugging with me, another dress would just be more stuff to take special care of.
  13. Wow, thank you so much for adding so much information! This is such a helpful review and your wedding was gorgeous.
  14. Welcome! At one point we had also looked at Puerto Rico - particularly El Convento. It looked absolutely gorgeous, but unfortunately, we could not afford it with our guest list. However, I'm not sure if you have requested any information from them or not, but they do have information on packages and menus available. I contacted them via their website and they responded within a couple of days tops. Good luck!
  15. I've noticed that a lot of people's beginning budgets were around $10k, which is where mine is currently at. At first glance, some of the packages seem do-able at that rate, but I always end up opting for the everything under the sun. However, I'm going to try sticking to my guns with the $10k budget. I'll let you all know what the final numbers are once we get things under control.
  16. Welcome! I'm kind of looking at this place also. It just looks too good to be true to me.
  17. Wow, I'm so glad you asked this question, Gina. I'm looking into this place now! If you don't mind my asking, when is your wedding?
  18. I hadn't even heard of it until I saw you mention it, but it looks kind of interesting. Is this just a ceremony/reception site?
  19. I love topsail island! It's a great family vacation spot. We went with a rather large group a few years ago for a wedding and had an excellent time. We were there in September so it was much less busy than I assume it would be in the summer. There were about 14 of us and we rented a house on the beach for the week. Here are some pictures from the area that I have.
  20. A friend of mine used Michaels for her wedding and they were beautiful. Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures, though.
  21. This dress looks looks like it was made for you! Very flattering and it's just gorgeous. Congrats!
