  1. I would keep it in mind, but I wouldn't stress over it. I mean, you can't control the weather, so there's no point in worrying yourself over it. However, I would speak to your WC to see if there is an alternate plan in case you need to move your ceremony/reception to another location. I'm sure they deal with these kinds of things all the time, so I would imagine they are pretty good about having back-up plans. In the meantime, don't forget that rain can make for sexy photos if you're into TTD!
  2. Congrats, Ashley! Welcome to the forum.

  4. We're looking at something around 6pm also. Thanks for the link, Kelie11!
  5. Hello, Jessie and welcome to the forums. Congrats on your engagement - you and I are in the same boat! Our engagement was in May 2009 also and we are getting married in January 2011. We had originally looked at Mexico and there are some awesome places there! Towards the end we had it narrowed down to RIU Palace Riviera Maya and Dreams Tulum. We ended up having to switch destinations, though. However, there are so many reviews for Mexico here I'm sure you'll be able to get a feel for different places. Good luck in planning!
  6. Congrats to Jenine and to you! Welcome to the forums.
  7. Thanks a lot for sharing, I'm definitely looking into this!

When I saw how hurt he was when he had to put his dog down back in November, I decided to get him one as a wedding gift. Given that I can't take a dog to Jamaica (LOL), I'm going to wrap a purple dog collar and give it to him along with a card that's written as though it's coming from our future four-legged family member. We can pick it out together when we get back. Aww, that is such a sweet gift! Major wife points there.

  11. Congrats and welcome! Wow, 11 years! I know how it is to plan around school schedules - we're having to do the same thing. Good luck!
  12. Hi Lauren! Welcome to the forum and congrats on both your engagement AND five-year mark!

It's starting to look AMAZING I was at a wedding where the bridal party did a rendition of this and omg it was fabulous! So needless to say, i totally dig that idea. Our song is "Save Room" by John Legend, but we think it's too... sexual innuendo-y or something. Sooooo, we're not too sure what to go with. "I'm Yours" is a popular choice, but I also really like "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson.

  16. I voted to pass on the shoes - which, btw, are seriously sooo cute and I was kind of pissed that they don't work. You definitely need to take them with you, though, cause they will make some verreh cute honeymoon outing shoes.
  17. I know you've left already and I hope that it's going very well! However, I just had to comment to say that I love the idea of bringing a picture along. In a way, it kind of addresses both "old" and "borrowed" in some artsy fartsy way. I'd be anxious to find out whether your "something borrowed" ever arrived.
  18. I've changed my date/location so many times since we got engaged. We were engaged May 2009, but I didn't "get serious" until just recently. Once you pick a date, you get this sort of mental timeline. It didn't really hit me that I had to seriously plan a wedding until it was under a year to do so.
  19. Man, this was such an issue. At first I got the whole "Oh, whatever makes you happy" speech. Then I got the, "That costs HOW much?" speech. I moved the location and got the "Quit changing your mind so much" speech. So I said to hell with them all and picked the location I liked best. No one says they HAVE to stay with you. Most of the AI resorts (even in Mexico) will let you have outside guests with a day pass if they are not up to paying for the resort you choose. Just make sure you let them know about that option.
  20. Man, I have such a hard time imagining having to pay $50 - $100 more when I'm already shelling out so much money for extras here and there. Seems like overkill. But, alas, I'm sure I will do it.
  21. Yeah, the best thing about DWs is that regular rules just don't apply! I'm sure there will be plenty of ways for guests to keep busy between things. Will there be music and drinks the whole time? That usually keeps the mind off of passing time.
