Changes for brides at Grand Palladium Jamaica
mswhatever replied to Khloe's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I wrote to the WC asking her to explain the major differences between the Pearl and Caribbean packages. Here is her response: "There are 2 key elements that will determine what package offers you the better deal. (1) Cost of the package versus amenities included: (a) Caribbean Package is USD2000.00 for 8 persons and USD50.00 for attendees over 8. ( Pearl Package is USD2400.00 for 8 persons and USD20.00 for attendees over 8. (2) Private Reception: (a) Caribbean Package - private reception is an hourly venue rental fee of USD100.00 per hour. ( Pearl Package - private reception is USD45.00 per person (we are removing an hourly charge and introducing a per person fee) Hypothetically speaking, if we are working with 36 persons, the cost for the wedding plus the reception would be: - Caribbean USD3500.00 - Pearl USD4280.00 So, the Caribbean package would actually work out cheaper in the end. Anyone having problems with Grand Palladium Jamaica?

We are having around 40 guests and we chose the tropical package which costs $30 per person for any amount of guests over the 8 included in the package. We also want to rent the Blue Lagoon for a private reception. Last summer, Jascynthia gave me the impression that the Blue Lagoon would be $100 an hour. So I figured it would only cost $300 (for 3 hours) on top of our package price for the Blue Lagoon. Phylicia emailed me a couple of days ago saying it will be $45 per person on top of the $30 per person for a private reception. $75 per person seems really high to me. Has anyone received any other info about this? I am starting to get really worried. I saved the email where they quoted the $100 an hour charge. Do you have anything stating the quote? If so, forward it to them. I am sure they will honor it. I have had one discrepancy in my planning due to the WC changes. They honored what the previous WC had stated after I presented the email. Good Luck. -

Fiesta launched a new website not to long ago. It listed the new packages. I noticed the price increase, but I noticed they added some items to the pearl package, couples massage, chocolate covered strawberries, flowers for the parents. I signed up for the Caribbean package, as well, last May. There has been no mention from the WC of a price increase for me, yet. -

Taifloral.com in negril...anyone used them for flowers b4
mswhatever replied to torywedd's topic in Jamaica Wedding Vendors
Ok ladies here is my bill from Tai Flora. The total is ~$1200. I hope the information helps. If your resort provides flowers in your wedding package, request credit for those flowers. I think mine was about $400. I would not have got that credit if I had gone with a different Florist. I also had concerns with the possibility that if I choose a different florist they may not show up. At least with Tai Flora they will be there. They may be a little more expensive but I have peace of mind. Just my thoughts... 1Bride's Bouquet: yellow roses, green cymbidiums orange roses, mango calla lilies, few white calla lilies wrapped white ribbon and pearl pins 1Upgrade difference buffered from package bouquet + boutonniere $87.00(hotel to be billed for package flowers) 1Groom's boutonniere: Green cymbidium, greenery (discounted)$25.00 2Bridesmaids bouquets: 3 Yellow Calla lilies at diff heights wrapped with orange ribbon $40.00 1Groomsmen boutonniere: yellow rose, greenery$15.00 1Female Groomsman: Yellow rose, greenery$15.00 3Wrist corsages: orange mokara orchids, white ribbon, greenery $35.00 2Father's boutonniere: yellow mokara orchid$15.00 Ceremony @ Gazebo Gazebo draped in white tulle with 3 arch arrangements: Yellow, orange, green, white flowers , 1Upgrade difference for package arch pieces (hotel to be billed for package)$275.00 2Fabric Draped standing Aisle markers: same floral scheme as arch$65.00 1Package included small tropical table centerpiece Reception 4Set of 2 cylinder at different heights with submerged mango calla lily, green $55.00 dendrobium, yellow mokara with floating candles: scattered orange and yellow petals to scatter on table -

You will be fine. I think you can be as involved as you want prior to arrival or wait and do it all when you arrive. Either way, you have no worries. I am excited and do not wish to wait until I arrive. I like the planning and worries part of the process. I have no patience!! Congrats on your up coming wedding!!!

Did you just choose what you wanted from the Tia Flora website? Did you contact the florist directly, or let the WC know? I'm getting married May 3 and haven't yet really made any major decisions regarding the wedding and now I'm starting to panic a little. I can't believe how organized everyone is! So far we've got 20 people attending and I'm a little worried that maybe the blue lagoon is too big for a group of that size? I've read some other posts where others had 70 people in the same area for a private reception. Also, I've been told that I have to have a set menu with the tropical package and I'm having issues deciding what I think 20 people will want to eat. Maybe I'll have to survey my guests.... Melanie In regards to Tai Flora, I contacted them directly. I sent them a pic of a bouquet that I liked and asked them to put together a package around that bouquet. After I received the quote and the package they had put together for me, I began to make changes to better suit me. I think a private reception is a must. They have 2 choices in this area, the Blue Lagoon (larger) or the Poseidon (smaller). I prefer the Blue Lagoon's view. I would not worry about the size of your party. I would pick the location that speaks to you. I have not got to the menu choices in my planning yet. I do not think anyone really cares about the food. They are there to share your day. As they say in Jamaica, "no worries man!" -

The resort doesn't seem to mind as long as the outside photographer is not another local jamaican. Basically, the photographer will just need to be a guest of the hotel. They charge $100 an hour for the Blue Lagoon with a 3 hour minimum. I got quotes from a couple of florists. In the end, Tai flora was the cheapest overall. The others were cheaper for the boutonnieres only, in my case. I never asked the resort if I could have used another florist because I wanted Tai Flora. I do think it is important to get your quote directly from the florist. I worked with the florist directly and I made sure they gave me credit for the resort flower package that is included with the wedding at GP. I had to ask for the credit. They did not just offer it up. The reason I did it this way is because I heard that some WC's add a little something extra to the cost for themselves. I am not saying that the WC's at GP resort add anything to the cost of the flowers. I just wanted to make sure they did not. I know of Brides that have used other local Photographers and just bought them a day pass without any problems. EX: Diana Campbell ([email protected]) is very reasonable and local. I think she quoted me $1200 for all day coverage and a TTD the next day. I hired Nora Bohanon ([email protected]). She is US based and will travel to your destination wedding. The resort will say no outside local photographers. Just do not tell them you are hired them to work. Put them on your guest list and tell the resort that the resort photographer is not needed. You will be fine, no matter what you choose. Happy Wedding Planning!!!! -
