We go to mexico every year for new years and have been to PV for 3 of them. Im sur eyour hotel will definately have a big bash planned, just make sure even if your hotel isnt doing fireworks, to make it to the beach for midnight, there are fireworks everywhere from all other hotels and the sky is comletely lit up, its amazing. I wouldnt recommend going off the resort only because it is sooo super busy, most mexicans take the day off and head to down town where there is a huge party in the streets which is fun but it is almost impossible to get a taxi home and there is no way a group can stay together, new years in mexico is amazing, im sure you'll love it

Stag n' Doe - to have, or not to have?
cilly_girl replied to Perplexy's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are absolutely having a stag and doe because we are having a formal AHR. Our AHR isnt a bbq because its in january so with dinner, hall rental, open bar, dj, etc. Our entire Wedding is costing us about $17000. Our guests know our AHR must be costing a pretty penny and have no problem coming out to have some cheap drinks and jello shots on a saturday night to help us raise some money. Its a really good time and because my FI's family isnt around and my family can only "help out" so much we can use the help. Plus my FI and I are both bartenders so we have some really nice prizes. Im sure it will be a great time -
Post Groom and GM attire
cilly_girl replied to TammyWright's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
My girls are wearing dark brown dresses so the groomsmen are wearing dark brown pants with a white long sleeve mexican button down with their sleeves rolled up to the middle of there arm. My fiance is wearing the same shirt with tan pants, I originally wanted all the guys in tan (khakis) pants but there would be no way to tell who the groom was. I am actually looking for capris for all the guys, as we will all be barefoot. -
I am trying to decide on getting my bridesmaids and my hair done by either franc cole or sebastians but I cant find alot of info on sebastians. Has anyone had there hair done by either of them that can show me some pictures and does anyone have an email address and pricing for sebastians. Let me know Please

We are getting married in January and doing our AHR immediately after only because we know we will still be in wedding mode (and still have our tans!!) I would love to do a bbq or something like that instead, but We decided to do it immediately so that our guests and us will still feel like its new and fresh and I know Ill still be excited where a couple months later the "newness" of being a new bride might wear off. Just my choice but anything you choose for your wedding Im sure will be perfect for You!!! CONGRATS

We did our invitations as boarding passes as well, We had the front page as our main ticket with details of the destination wedding week and then put info about the AHR underneath, there was a tear away strip for people to send back to us that said passengers names and whether they will be accompanying us to mexico or whether they will be attending our AHR or both. The next page was our AHR info and the third was our mexico info, they turned out great. I havent noticed any fewer people coming to mexico because we are doing an AHR, I think alot of people want a reason to go on vacation and a wedding is perfect. And to do it all together saves on alot of work

My FH and I go to mexico every year for the last six years for new years, it is the time that we are happiest, so we found it only right to get married in mexico (puerto Vallarta). We have invited everyone to the wedding but are very aware that there are alot of people who wont be able to come, so that is why we are doing the AHR. Because we are getting married in January we dont really have the option of a barbacue and we want to get all the wedding stuff done in two weeks so we are having a semiformal reception right when we get home, your right it is pricey but we dont really have much choice. We have 120 people coming to the reception and with hall rental decorations dinner dj open bar and all the rest it is going to cost us the same as having our wedding here BUT I wouldnt sacrafice my actual wedding in Mexico for anything

I think for you DW dinner you should maybe have a seating assignment so your wedding party/ family/ in laws can sit near you/eachother appropriately and then your friends together as well. You want to go for as little stress for you as possible on the day of the wedding so to not have people wandering around not knowing where to sit, will be one less stress. I think the idea of giving people a table number but not an exact seat is a great idea for your AHR, that way they have an idea where to go but you dont have to warry about the particulars like who sits next to who. Either way no matter what you decide im sure it will be beautiful

Im really sorry. I wasnt trying to be rude, Maybe had I not said Im not trying to be judgemental you wouldnt have thought I was being that way ( not that that makes any sense) My sister got married in Vegas and in November and was going to do her AHR in June but by the time april came around and she was going to do her inviting, she felt like the whole wedding thing was done and over with and she didnt want people to get the wrong impression. I was trying to be polite and I truly apologize if anyone took that the wrong way and thats why we are doing our reception so close together, so we are still in wedding mode. I was just trying to get some helpful ideas from people who know it best, not stir up any trouble.

Okay, so not to be judgemental of other peoples choices but My fiance and I decided that we were going to do our at home reception 6 days after we get back from mexico, the reasoning is that in my mind I dont want people to feel like its a money/gift grabber. We are pulling out all the stops, going semi formal, having an open bar, dj, sit down dinner, margarita bar, ongoing slide show of the holiday, pictures in front of a mexican backdrop, sombreros and sunglasses. We will be having it in January and here in ontario it will be very very cold but we want to bring the mexican vibe to those who couldnt come, there will be approximately 120 ppl. I do need some Ideas on how to make this event more of a fun party and less of a formal wedding. On the invites we put no ties allowed but due to the weather I cant expect shorts and sundresses. Anyone have any ideas of how to make this super fun

My fiance and I have been together for 71/2years and we decided to get married at our favorite hotel in mexico, Golden crowne paradise, Puerta vallarta. We have been there four times and have taken many friends there, we will be Going January 11-18 and I am thinking about doing the wedding on the 13th, we will be accompanied by approximately 40 friends and family and on January 23 we will be doing our at home Reception. I am very happy we chose an adults only resort because many of our friends who have kids are still coming and I believe they need a break. Also, many people who are coming with us have never been to mexico let alone an all inclusive vacation and Im so happy they now have the opportunity. We are mejor mexico fanatics and we truly are had over heals in love with eachother when we get the opportunity to go and I think it is the perfect spot for us to get married
