we are there from 20th april to the 4th of may so i will be around for a while xx when do you arrive/leave?

I have so much still to do With everything that has happened this year I felt like my wedding was never going to happen (things always put a hold on planning) Let me explain We booked in april 2009 and everything was fine mum and dad offered to pay for me and chris as a gift and his mum and dad offered to pay for the wedding package Dad also told me he would pay for my dress plus bridesmaid dresses so this really took away financial burden leaving us with the AHR to pay for and grooms outfit In may my dad left my mum for another woman so this sort of destroyed all happiness we had the month before Throughout the summer my dad and mum fought about everything so the wedding went on hold (well planning wise anyway) In September I started to get back on track then dad sent divorce papers and destroyed my mum again We went dress shopping in October and I called my dad to get the deposit paid and got no answer Ok I thought maybe he will call back He did 2 days later and basically told me he was not paying for anything After my little sister managed to talk some sense into him he agreed that him and mum would split the bill down the middle So I still had some concerns but thought I would carry on with planning etc Then tragically at the end of October my sisters boyfriend died at the age of 24 So as you can imagine last month was traumatising for everyone So now we are in December coping as best we all can and I still haven’t finished finalising anything and still worrying about finances and how my sister is going to cope xx I have booked my AHR venue , DJ and photographer so I am not too far behind (I hope) xxxx

Welcome and congrats on picking a DW You will find this site so helpful I know I have already Have you thought about a turquoise or maybe even a yellow We are having a dark purple ( I know probably think I am crazy) but my dad is wearing a kilt and the only colour we could pick from it was the purple As someone else already said check out the Jamaica forum and speak to other brides to be and also get some advice from the ladies who have already had there wedding xx good luck with everything xx

thanks for the info so far this is really going to help us as we are there for two weeks we want to make sure we do a few excursions definately the cool runnings tour and dunns river falls are top of our list xx getting very excited now

Hi all my fella is really into going out and exploring the island etc was wondering if there is a list of the excursions etc that i can let him look at we want to do a welcome pack with our daily plans so that if guests want to join us they know what we are doing and when any helpful tips ?? we are staying in Riu Montego bay for two weeks xx thanks all xx

i found i was having trouble communicating my requests to sherika also i want to book the restaurant and ensure we have this confirmed before we leave do you know who i need to contact at the hotel for other confirmations eg the family room and our room upgrade that we have paid for i am worried that if i dont do it before we leave i will have a major breakdown if i get there and things are not done lol anyway how is your planning coming along?

Hockeymom97 i know i totally understand that you are not wanting to be pushed into it so if i were in your position i would just tell everyone straight that you do not want to do it this way xx i have nearly finished all preperations for the AHR and i am still 5 months or so away the only thing may be the photos however a friend of ours has a projector and we can get the pics onto disk or dvd to plug into it so we can have the pics running on slideshow during the evening x latoya1908 when and where abouts are you getting married?

i am having my AHR just 2 days after we get back we all get back on the wednesday morning and the AHR is on the Friday evening the reason for this is after having 3 weeks off work(going back on the monday) i would not be able to take anymore time off so i decided to have it the weekend of our return i always wanted a big evening reception but was not able to do a big wedding in the UK due to cost so we opted for a large party with everyone when we return i know some people probably think i am crazy but i think as long as i have had everything confirmed before we leave for jamaica then it should be fine

hello April 2010 brides i am getting married on 23rd April at Riu Montego bay Jamaica we will be there from 20th april - 4th may are there anyother brides going to be at the same resort in this time? i feel i have slacked off a bit due to the fact that my Dad has left my mum for someone else so the whole family feels like a boulder just fell on us anyway i still have so much to do so have decided that i will only focus on getting everything sorted and not think about whether i want my dad to walk me down the isle as i know if i make that decision based on how i feel at the minute the answer would be no but i know i would regret it later so let me know if you will be there when i am and maybe we can arrange a meet up at the bar x
