We just booked Kiko & Carlos for our wedding...dont use our name as we havent paid yet or signed the contract, but I would say they are slightly flexible on the price...but not the 2 hour min On that note they want the full payment up front...for anyone that used them before is that the normal practice...I told them I am happy to wire them the 1/2 up front that they requested, but would like to pay the other half day off....thoughts? I feel as though they are annoyed by this. The WC told me it was common to pay upfront in mexico...ohhh that makes me nervous

I was reading the Barcelo blog on the site and it said that the palace is no longer 1 a la carte per day, but pretty much fhe same number as tropical/colonial Has any one us heard of this? Info on this? That was one reason we were telling people they should stay at the Palace besides the fact that it is new and awesome, but they wouldnt have to have buffet dinners every night when they arrived before the wedding events started

I think we are hiring the band for the cocktail hour, but to keep the FI family happy I think we are going to move the cocktail hour to the first night...long story So then have them for one hour that night I think it is fun to have one special thing such as marachi or fire dancers when in mexico

ACtually the RIU will do group reservations for large wedding parties and all the a la cartes have 2 seatings so it would not be that hard to seat large wedding parties. Everyone shows up for the seating at one of those 2 times whether you are with the wedding party or not We were told the same thing if over 30 people no group reservations. Since we would only take up one seating at 1 of the many choices there I dont think it is a big deal and find it insane that they seem to frown on large wedding parties Had i known this up front this would have made a decision in our wedding booking We are already eating breakfast and lunch at the buffets we dont want to eat there every night We are paying for the wedding night, rehersal night and all we ask is the other 2 nights guests are there Wed and Thurs for reservations...I think the forum might want to fight this one....

Have any of you had luck getting group dinner reservations made through the WC at Barcelo I was told they will not do that...but that seems quite strange to me Just got back from a friends wedding at the RIU and the WC made group reservations for 50 people all week.....

I was told in high season the french restaurant is not offered...in low season if you get the strawberry pkg sometimes very rarely though they will Just to let you know though the other WC told me anytime they would make it private if you pay for the strawberry pkg...so I dont really know. ALthough the main boss gave me that answer above

Thank god you just made me feel normal! We are having a decently large wedding at the Barcelo 75-125 people next April and there has been a ton of back and forth. I honestly never thought it would be this tough...I almost pulled to the plug and changed locations many times over the last week and half, but there are already 30 rooms booked so it would be a major drama so I am just trying to work through it with them. I just feel like they are acting like a "Wedding factory" and not like a resort thats occupancy is so low that 2 of the 5 resorts are closed right now Thank you again for making me realize that I am not alone

I sent the WC 2 pics of cakes that I liked...a wedding cake and a grooms cake and she said that the chef would be able to do both and got me prices right away So thought I would share in case any of you wanted to do something special

We picked the Barcelo because we love the resort. We stand by that decision as I have said in all previous posts. My point is just that they will keep changing prices and making add-ons if everyone just takes it. I have not seen the PDF everyone is talking about, I am just talking from personal exp about which locations you are allowed to use for the reception, the electricty fee, etc. We love the resort and are excited to get married there. That doesnt mean though when we are bringing in 100 people we should just grin and bear it every time a rule or a price changes. I am sure if we were having a much smaller wedding some of these things would probably annoy me less...but for such a large wedding But at the same point they do so many weddings a day...I think up to 6, so I am not really sure if it is a big deal to them if they change things??

How do you know when they drop these prices?? Ladies I have to say as a fellow bride at Barcelo I think we are getting screwed! I know everyone says but yes this is our dream and it is still so much cheaper than the US...which are both true. But we need to stand up to them and not let them keep changing prices on us, not allowing outside photog's, charing a $90 PER HOUR electricty fee for DJ or Band, $90 day pass fee for hair and makeup (the other resorts I looked at said they would only charge this for wedding guests/visitors not vendors)- even though they are not eating and drinking and that is what the fee is for. The WC has even told me that the do so many weddings they can pretty much charge what they want. I think that in a very polite and professional way we need to let them know that the other resorts actually want our business. Excellence charges 16 per person, Ibeostar 18 per person...Barcelo 66 per person- yes we all picked Barcelo for a reason and knew of the charges, but stop the nickle and dime business!

I think $200 is good I have seen much higher prices than that I think if you are making them feel included that is most important
