BB- sorry for asking about something you already covered in your review. Was posting from my cell phone and didn't have pictures loaded, or the past pages. I can see now in the picture that your dress isn't big. Mine isn't either, but it's silk and heavy. I don't know WTF I was thinking. lmao FMB- There is a gazebo option, I'm not sure if there is a limit on the size of the party, maybe like 25? there's also a pier that goes out onto the water I believe. I think beach is probably more popular. I know in Mexico, you can also have your reception in the lobby area and there's an area that is along the covered pathways near the lobby that people opt for. Don't know if it can be done in the DR or not. I'm tempted to ask about it for our cocktail hour, but I think people will be annoyed at having to move so far, then come back poolside for the reception. Nikki

BB, Is your dress fairly thick? Mine is, and I *know* I'm going to be dying that day, but I couldn't resist the gown you know? I mean, it was THE gown. lol. I thought 4pm would still be bad, but I was hoping that we'd have some kind of wind going on. Is that a futile hope? I think our ceremony will take about 45 minutes, maybe even an hour. i'm planning on incorporating a Thai tradition or two, plus we're signing a wedding cert during it similar to when people do the legal ceremony. I also want a prayer moment in there, etc. I'm wondering if I will be able to stand in that heat, in that gown, for that long PLUS take pictures.... I was thinking that we'd have the ceremony at 4, plan it lasting an hour, then have the cocktail hour at say 5:30, so people can go to their rooms and freshen up or soak up a/c or whatever if they need to. We're going to be taking pics during that time, and maybe even into the cocktail hour. Then dinner is to start 7 poolside. Another thought, during June, were bugs a problem at the beach? We're thinking of having the cocktail hour at the beach, but if the bugs are a problem, we may have to move it. Ana hasn't really given us any other location options for that particular event. Maybe we can do it near the lobby or in the area where there are those covered pathways? Nikki Quote: Originally Posted by Boston Bride 2009 We had our wedding at 4:30 and it was hot as he**. Hence people jumping in the pool. Our timing was a little different because we didn't want a gap between cocktail hour and dinner. You can't start your dinner at the pool before 7:00 and it can only go until 10. This was our schedule 4:30-5:00 ceremony 5:00-5:30 group photos 5:30-6:45 cocktail 7-10 reception And ABSOLUTELY bring all of your documents, confirmations and detials with you. This really helped me because they or my TA screwed up our room category upgrade and we only got the correct room because I had my confirmation.

That time in October might be fine. My date is in June and Ana said it's still fairly hot at 3, but I need there to still be sunlight for photos. We're doing 4pm. I didn't have to do a deposit, but my TA had to send in a confirmation to Ana that we'd booked travel to the resort. We hadn't actually paid anything at that point, but she needed a confirmation from the TA. I don't know what she does for people who don't use a TA. There are some benefits you get but it's based on how many rooms/nights you have booked. I forget what they are exactly, but they're on the website. Ana is okay, I've enjoyed working with her....caveat: if she gets busy she will dump you onto her associates and their English is not as good as hers. She comprehends our phrases and slang and American wedding customs better than they do, IMHO. I had to get my TA to get on her a couple of times about that; esp because the associates gave wayyy different answers than Ana. Also, advice that my TA gave me: DOCUMENT AND SAVE EVERYTHING! When the time comes, print off ALL your conversations and pack them. They could come in handy when you get down there if there is some sort of snafu or change or misunderstanding. I hope some of that helps, and CONGRATS! *does happy dance*

Are they still available in store? I ask because we have a Pier 1 locally (I realize that perhaps you may not hence my asking) and since I have to do some stuff at the Bed Bath Beyond that is next door I could run in for you and see if they have them. I'm going tomorrow, so lemme know. Nikki -

What type of music does he play? Thanks! Is this the one that she called the Dominican beach (or was it pool?) party? I got her to send me the menus to the restaurants, if anyone wants it reply and I'll get back to you. My PM box is running full- so PM's are not the best way to go. Nikki

Don't just take this thread as your biggest source of research, I would strongly advise you go to tripadvisor and other sites such as that and read the reviews of guests who have stayed there (not only as a wedding, but all guests) and make sure that what you read is okay with you. Also, look at the pictures there on the site and make sure you like what you see. Just make sure to do research before you commit! At any rate, we will go down there in June so I don't have expenses on extras for the ceremony yet, but we're slated to do the gold package which will cost us $1600 (there's a discount because of our rooms), we don't have any extra charges associated with the wedding ceremony itself from the resort. Our room is going to be just at 3k give or take for 9 days at the Exc in an Ocean view club suite. We are spending 5 days at Tortuga Bay- that was 3k. We have not booked our airfare because we're waiting for my residency match letter and until then I don't know where we'll be. But with the highest possible airfare, and including spending time at the spa and excursions we are on track to spend about 10k for the wedding. That doesn't include my dress, rings, etc. Just the wedding/honeymoon itself. Hope that helped!

Nicole- I can help you with part of that, pastor york charges $300 USD. He does not require deposit, will let you tailor the service to your tastes/wishes/desires, and only requires that you pay the day of the service. As to whether the team at EPC will make you pay the visitor pass fee to let him officiate, I haven't gotten a straight answer on. One cordinator says no, one says yes. BB may have a better answer on that part. BB- Thanks for the emails! If you find anything else, feel free to shoot it my way.

Merry Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa to everyone! I know it's late- but better late than never, right?? lol BB- if you could send me all the files you have, it would help. I'm getting lost in the shuffle I think. They've switched up my coordinator on me a couple of times now, so I don't know who I'll get. Also, if I could ask, how much did DJ Mania set you back? When I went to the website link that was in the review, it listed the company in Mexico I think. I wasn't sure if I misread it, if they travel, or if it was another company. We're considering a DJ but aren't sure if the budget and guest list really need/warrant it. I can not wait! I am SO excited!! Nikki
