  1. Hey all! I'm doing my BD shoot in a month with a fellow BDW bride. I'm soooo excited, but also a little nervous. She got us an amazing deal. I need help from all of you re: wardrobe!!! I have a black bra&panties set, and a white bra&garter thing set. but the photographer suggested 3 more outfits!!! She suggested a jersey, but my FI doesn't watch sports - he *does* love cooking tho. and martial arts. I would looooove to hear any suggestions. OH. and SHOES. i need to get a pair of sexy shoes. Any styles i should look for in particular? What about accessories? She has a string of pearls. What do people wear in terms of ... earrings? Thanks so much guys! I want to make the most of it cuz it's costing me an arm and a leg! Can't wait to hear all your suggestions.
  2. Hi guys! I originally planned for my cousin to be our photographer, but he said that for such an important event, he'd rather not have to worry about that and really get to enjoy the day. So i'm photographer-hunting now - on a budget. I saw the recommendation from DanielleNDerek - Photo Souvenirs - their photos are gooooorgeous. especially the TTD ones, which i also want to do. Any PPC brides here who used the resort photographer - i'd love to hear of your experiences. I also don't know where to find out if PPC allows outside vendors. What would the avg cost of bringing a photographer be? and of having a TTD session? Thanks so much!
  3. Amelie, FI and i are from pretty different financial backgrounds too, and in the past it caused some stress. we got into some pretty big arguments. i think right now i've adopted the - in the end, as long as we're together, that's enough - it helps me focus on what it is that really is important in life. Hopefully FI is willing to take steps to amend the problem too! liiiiiiiike... by being less of a cheap ass. Is he open to the suggestion, or is he more just... unwilling to move? cuz if he's unwilling to even consider where you're coming from, that's a whole different issue. For me, i also find that when something comes up as a "money" problem btwn FI and me, it actually might be just a disguise for something else - me feeling like he doesn't care about me cuz he isn't willing to spend $ on something for us/me. i try to keep in mind that i'm just taking it personally, and that's just the way he was raised re: $. it doesn't work all the time, but we have our whole lives to work on it right? (wish me luck. we're talking about the wedding add-ons this week. ><) JaimeLynne, Thanks so much for suggesting that book. FI and i aren't even married yet, but i feel like it's better to prevent problems than to fix them, right? haha.. i'm very excited to pick it up. Do you think it's applicable for relationships in general too, or just marriage?
  4. hey nbulldog19, FI and i decided on the Paradisus Punta Cana. We were also on a budget, so I went to redtag.ca and looked into the packages. For august, it came out to around $1600pp. The Paradisus Palma Real is really luxurious but *really* pricey. The one in Punta Cana is also all-inclusive and has a really nice gazebo too. I think someone posted them up in the Paradisus thread. if not PM me and i'll send you all the info I have on it. Hope that helps. Msg me if there's anything else I can help with!
  5. Just went to the Honeybourne Intimates website.. i don't see the marathon dates for toronto! ><
  6. HOLY CRAP your pictures are stunning... wow. i think i'm sold on Honeybourne Intimates. Also from the toronto area. anyone interested in doing it this summer?
  7. I'm so glad to hear that there are tons of us out there still in the beginning stages of planning. so many people on this forum seem to already have sailed smoothly past all that stuff. haha.. I have a date and resort picked out. Now i'm at the "inquire about group rates" part. Possibly a weird question: do you have to pay for a TA? how does it all work? and how necessary is one? any experience where we can get the best deals? Thanks in advance!
  8. Welcome Ashley! I just joined earlier this year and was so overwhelmed by the number of resorts out there. It's good you've got it narrowed down to Punta Cana. I actually decided on Paradisus Punta Cana. There have been some really good reviews on here, the price is around what i was hoping for, and the gazebo is gorgeous - which is imp for me cuz we're getting married in August - HURRICANE SEASON!!! There are toooons of threads on the other resorts too, so i'm sure you'll find lots of info to make the right choice for you and your FI.
  9. Welcome! I'm from Toronto too! I joined this forum earlier this month and it's already helped me choose a resort! haha.. i love how you can get a real perspective from brides rather than a pumped up promotional perspective, which you'd have to take with a grain of salt. Look forward to chatting more!
  10. hey babe, i just wanted to share a quotation that i absolutely love, and encapsulates what i want, and am so glad i found, in a relationship. a few years ago i stayed in this crappy relationship for much longer than i should have. he made me feel like i could never match up to the girls around him, that i didn't treat him well enough, and just.. not good! in the end, i realized that it doesn't matter how much i cared about him. i needed a relationship that wasn't just based on a one-sided love, but one that was reciprocated and based on trust, communication and all that good stuff. one of my friends is actually dating someone who said the exact same thing your FI said to you. he said he was embarrassed to bring her out, that's why she only met his friends for the first time recently after 4 1/2 years of dating. as many other girls have said, only you know what's best for you. but we're here if ever you need. “Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will lie under the stars and listen to your heartbeat, or will stay awake just to watch you sleep... wait for the boy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you're just as pretty without makeup on. One who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares and how lucky his is to have you.... The one who turns to his friends and says, 'that's her.'â€
  11. Hey Jamie, i wish there was something we could do to make it all better. it's really frustrating dealing with such issues when your big day is coming up so soon. I agree. people should be upfront and if your BM didn't want to organize it or couldn't due to financial reasons, she should have said so in the beginning. it's much better to not have that expectation, than to have the hope that she'll plan it AND come, then later find out that she can't. that suuuuucks. too bad BDW brides are all over North America. i'm pretty sure we would be able to throw you a party that will make them all green. i hope you still have a good time doing whatever you decide!
  12. I'm a 2010 bride tooooo! i emailed the WC at Paradisus Punta Cana a few days ago but no reply yet. Should i send a follow-up email? or just call them? What's the average wait-time? The wedding isn't til August, but i'm just a little anxious. lol... Thanks guys!
  13. Hi guys! I'm new to this forum. Did a quick search but couldn't find a thread on this topic, so sorry if it's a re-post! As DWs are smaller than normal weddings, there will probably be friends that fall into the borderline invite/not-invite category. Do people generally feel neglected if not invited, or do they feel relief at not having to save up or think of an excuse? For those friends who aren't invited (esp. the ones who are semi-close and feel that they are close enough to be invited), what kind of responses would you give to not offend them? Lots of people are being really sweet, and are offering to help with wedding planning and whatnot, and i don't have the heart to say, "... >< sorry, we're keeping this really small..." but due to budget constraints, we won't be able to invite everyone. Thanks so much! I know this is an issue probably most have dealt with so i'm really looking forward to all your input.
  14. wow the gazebo looks gorgeous. thanks so much for all the pictures. loved the ones on flickr too. didn't find too many pics on their actual website, and any we do find, we take with a grain of salt (just the nature of promotional items). we're really considering this resort so i can't wait to share these pics with the FI!
  15. omg your sunset pictures are absolutely beautiful.... congrats.
  16. haha i'm really excited for the review too!!! Just got engaged earlier this month and am looking into the Riu Bachata. I notice that so many people get married at the ROR. I was a little concerned that maybe there was a reason why no one gets married at the Bachata. After reading this thread I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Bachata.
  17. Congrats!!! We're planning for August 2010, but also looking into the Rius. They're pretty pricey tho, so I guess it'll depend on what kind of deal we can get.

  19. Hi everybody! My name is Linda. My FH and I got engaged on our trip to the Dominican April 10th. We're on a budget, and we also met on a resort, so it seems fitting that we have a DW. I did a google search and the amt of info out there is overwhelming. Then I came across this forum! Everyone seems so helpful that i just *had* to join. Hope to talk to you all soon. We have not yet set a wedding date. It'll be sometime in August of 2010 though. I prefer Jamaica, cuz i've never been there before, but i'm flexible. That's it for now!
