While we're looking at possible dates, let's look at possible locations too! Has anyone been to Pauper's rooftop patio? It's not an uberposh patio, but it's wooden and the bar is actually like a palapa (sp?) so might be fitting. it's in the Bathurst&Bloor area.

That's tough Mel, and i *do* sympathize with you. FI and i chose a DW for the same reasons as you - $ and we're not the schmoozing type. His mom is very religious and he mentioned that she'd want a Hindu ceremony, so i said sure why not? There was going to be a small lunch afterwards. One day we were on the phone and in passing he mentioned that they might be getting a banquet hall because there would be over 100 people coming. what was that? lol i totally freaked. i shared with FI and, unfortunately, he couldn't understand where i was coming from. and i see his perspective - his parents would foot the cost and they would plan it all, so what's the big deal? but from my point of view - our reason, or at least my reason for having a DW is because schmoozing can sometimes make me feel very anxious, and at my wedding i want to just have fun, not have to worry about making sure other people have a good time. plus, it was a bit of a control issue - it's kind of nice to not have to worry about stuff, but when it's totally being planned without any consideration of you and what you want, it made me feel like it wasn't even our wedding. sorry a bit of a rant. is it a given that the $ would have been given to you? if so, would it be an option to sit down with them, share with them a list of expenses that you guys have planned for based on the financial gift amt you guys spoke about? kind of a, "we really appreciate that you want to throw us a party, but we don't want you to spend so much... " then they might offer that they've already put aside money for you and FI, whether it be in the form of a gift of a party, and that's when you can throw in that "that's so generous of you. there are a few big purchases we'd need to make in the near future. it's your money so it's entirely up to you, but we feel that, given the cost of an AHR and our future expenses, it might be more practical to put it twds something more long-term". I totally see your hesitation though because you know they mean well and by rejecting their gift, it might seem selfish or ungrateful, but i think it's more that you guys want to make the most out of the $, whether it's yours or theirs. It can be framed as you guys being selfish/ungrateful, but also just as easily that you would looooove to have both, but if you had to choose, you'd rather it be something that is more permanent. In this economy, we all *need* to be more practical to make the most of what we have. I hope things work out for you!!! Let us know! Whatever you decide, we support you all the way!

haha that was quite a long post, but it really does help to get it out, esp if you don't want to end up venting even more to the FI. it sounds like it's been so frustrating for you!!! i can't even imagine dealing with a FMIL like that. it's actually very overwhelming just to read that. sh*t.. has it always been like that? i totally know what you mean by it being a potential strain on the marriage in the future. i have really little patience when it comes to dealing with people who are just not-nice for no reason, so i don't want to give you any advice. hahaha.. but know that you're not alone. i love the show Outlaw In-Laws on Slice network! i hope things work out for you! keep us posted. *hugs*

Hi guys! Like It'sfinallyhere, i did my session with Kathy. I'm pretty oblivious to stuff like, knowing my "angles" and with posing, but Kathy was really helpful. She'd try to describe it, and if i still didn't get it she would demonstrate. haha.. it was much appreciated. All in all i'm very happy with it. Still choosing pics and debating if i want a 20 page book or 30 page one. Now... lemme see if i have any luck posting some pics... YAY it worked.

i love quotations too! i thought there'd be a ton about mix or trail, so i looked up unity and joining together and blahblah but there aren't a lot of those too! I got these from Love Quotes, Famous Quotations, Romantic Love Quotes, You Love to Quote maybe you'll find something else there. I also looked up sand ceremony wording b/c the concept seems similar. Maybe you could play with the wording so it's not a mix of sand but a mix of nuts, raisins, orange M&Ms! Hope that helped.

I just had my BD session with fellow BDW bride. I can vouch for Honeybourne Intimates. She was amazing to work with and great with giving direction! I'm completely retarded when it comes to posing but she guided me so that I would know what to do. The website says that we can expect to see the pics within 2 weeks, but she offered to try to get them to us within 1 week! Can't wait!

It is your day and you can do what you want, but as brides, of course we'd prefer to rock the boat as little as possible (less clean up to do afterwards). How about sending them BOTH an invitation (kind of on the assumption that as a couple, if your uncle can't make it, she would want to wait to celebrate your wedding with your uncle present) for the AHR if you're having one or offer to take them both out for dinner b/c as much as you appreciate her willingness to come, you and FI do not want to leave out your uncle and would instead love to celebrate with them TOGETHER in town. Hope you find a resolution that makes you happy and drama-free!
