I agree with PP Maybe you could do the wedding on Maui, since there are more wedding vender's/options. Then you could do Kuai for your honeymoon if your looking to relax and lay back. Either place will be beautiful though GL.

We're holding our reception at the Fest of Lele.. I'm excited and i think it will be a great time.. the thing is.. what about the first dance? I'm sure we couldnt have one at the Luau.. If any of you ladies held your reception at a Luau did you just not have a first dance? or had one later somewhere else? any thoughts??

ooo i'm so sorry your having to deal with all this stress! i dont think they have a right to take the deposit from Oluwalu... you should probably take legal action if you want the money back.. maybe try to threaten them first, see if that might scare them into refunding you.

has anyone heard anything about this place? I thought it would be fun to go to a Lua for our reception, We'll probably have something more formal, like a brunch the day before maybe, but i thought this would be cool. then again i'm up for anything.. any idea? I've heard of seawatch but i think that might be too far, heard of mamma's but i'm not sure how far that is.. hmmm

I know that food is quite expensive in Maui so I chose the villas because they have a fully equipped kitchen in each room and even bbq's on site so people can go to Costco and save a ton of money compared to eating out. It appears their rates are quite higher, but when you get a group discount for your wedding guests, its is more comparable to other resorts that dont have near the amenities as the villas. And the rooms are huge and have separate bedrooms if people want to share rooms. Beware of lower costs at other resorts because there are a lot of hidden charges. Most resorts charge a resort fee of $25 per day, plus parking and other things $10/day! When all that stuff is factored in, including their food and drink prices, it gets pretty expensive I'd be happy to help if you have any other questions. I'm planning everything from the mainland and had never been to Maui before up until last weekend for a last minute trip to meet Lori and do a couple tastings. Good luck with your planning! Thanks for the info! my mother loves Olowalu, and it's my second choice, its gorgeous but i'm not sure if the place will be too much for a group of 20 or less?. I'm going to look into the Villas... Me and DF want to stay at a nice hotel for a few nights, when we arrive in Maui and a day or 2 after the ceremony. We're planning on staying on the islands for a couple weeks though and are looking into vacation rentals and villas for the duration of our stay. Do you have any suggestions on places i can look at along with the villas or websites? thanks!

Fortunately it works out for me because it made my decision easier, lol, we're having the ceremony on holy innocent's lawn, or inside in case it rains. I love the chapel and the lawn is gorgeous by the ocean. Then we can walk right over to the Fest of lei lei.. i think that might be where we're having the reception, havent decided yet though

Hi everyone, my name is Justine and my fiance and I are planning to be Maui'ed, May 2010.. I've started researching but still need ALOT of help. For the ceremony I really like Kalaeokai'a estate or Holy Innocents. Our wedding party will be about 20 people. Still not at all sure about accomodations for us or guests, but i've been looking into grand champion villas (Wailea). Also not sure of a good place to hold the reception. I was thinking of going through Tropical Maui Weddings. if anyone has any advice or suggestions i'm up for any! If you've had experience with these places could you let me know what you thought of them? thanks!!

Hi everyone, My fiance and I are planning to be married in Maui, May 2010 I'm super excited but i am all over the place as far as the planning, which is why i'm starting so early. I'm thinking of going through Tropical Maui weddings and booking the Kalaeokai'a estate or Holy Innocents for the ceremony. Our wedding party will be about 20 people. i have no ideas yet of where to hold the reception or accomodations for us or guests.. if anyone has any advice i'd really appreciated it
