  1. I think these are so cool! I love the idea. Thank you for the posts.
  2. Hi! I'm a February 2010 bride. Getting married at Ana y Jose in Tulum. I have alot of the big stuff done (I think) and now we are working out some details. We have the photographer, florist, my dress, groom's outfit, plus the bridesmaids and groomsmen are good to go. did you find his suit?
  3. We have a friend who is a DJ so we offered to fly her down and pay for her room if she'd DJ at our wedding. I'm kind of happy to not have to worry about the playlist. But I went to a destination wedding last year and they used an ipod and it was so fun! They had a great playlist so no one even noticed where the music was coming from.
  4. This is a great thread...I love it! Anyone using a guitarist for the ceremony? I was going to have him play an instrumental "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz for the bridesmaids but I have no idea what song I should walk in to! It needs to be something that will sound good with just a guitarist. Any suggestions?
  5. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a hair stylist in Tulum? I'm getting married in Feb, but heading to Tulum in Nov and want to get a trial done on my hair. Jackie recommended someone and said she can set me up with an appt, but I have no idea who this person is or what kind of work she does!
  6. I am concerned about hair also. I'm doing my own makeup, but I definitely can't handle hair! I'm getting married in Tulum, not in a major resort, so I will need to find someone on my own. I haven't found too much info on hair stylists, unfortunately. I would love to hear any suggestions!!!

Our wedding was definitely a giant success, we had the time of our life at Ana y Jose beach club! I found the organization extremely smooth and easy, i actually loved organizing my wedding! The location was definitely amazing, the staff was so professional, they even had someone standing behind me during dinner to pull my chair in case i wanted to stand up or sit down, same with my husband...and they kept on bringing drinks, trays of tequila shots all night...and after we were all pretty drunk, they came with bottles of water, which i thought was so thoughtful! since the preparation started, i basically had nothing to do, it was all taken care of by Claudia, jackie's assistant...i saw the final result when i was ready to walk down the aisle, and i was really happy about the decorations. the only stressful moment was during the hair and makeup preparation, we were behind and Nora the person that jackie recommends was doing a horrible job, my friend came and fixed it. I wouldn't recommend her even though we had a test, the day of she didnt do what i wanted... The kids played on the trampoline all night long, they had a blast. We also rented a projector/screen for my dad's surprise, it was enormous! we also rented a big dance floor 8x8m, it was perfect! we were around 65 people. we brought our own DJ, she dealt with all technical details directly with jackie, i felt like jackie didn't really know what the DJ had to bring, but at the end she figured it out. We also brought our own photographers, they were sensational... we ordered the cake at Turtle bay bakery, it was great! we also had a guitar player, i have no idea what he played, if he played what we requested, nobody remembers or could tell me ..im not even sure i walked down the aisle on pachelbel... and the mariachi were great, they started playing after the ceremony, it was awesome. we had also bought maracas for our guests to start playing once we are married, but they were so excited to see us walk down the aisle, they started shaking them right away! it was so much fun for them and for us too the maracas were our party favors, they made the night worth it for some, who just couldnt stop playing all night long! i should have photos soon, will put them up! i would recomment the beach club to anybody for anything,...i had a blast! Your wedding sounds like it was amazing! Thank you for sharing!!!! I'd love to see your photos whenever you have a chance to post them. I'm sorry to hear about your hair issues. I was planning to use the stylist that Jackie recommends and am getting a trial done in November. Now I'm thinking that I might want to find a 2nd stylist to do a trial and see who does a better job.
  8. Hi Jill & Jim, Have you been to Tulum or visted Ana y Jose yet? My fiance and I took a trip there right after getting engaged and loved it! We picked it right away. We are getting married in February 2010. I've been starting to use this site more now that I've begun planning. It's very helpful. Good luck!
  9. Congratulations and good luck with your wedding planning! My fiance and I have chosen Ana y Jose for our wedding in February 2010. I can't help you with the weather in May, as I have never been at that time, but I've stayed at Ana y Jose. We loved it there. It is beautiful and the food is awesome. We decided to get married at the Ana y Jose Beach Club because it is run by the same management as the restuarant at the hotel. Good luck with your planning!
  10. I'm glad to hear that your wedding was perfect! Congratulations! I'd love to hear your thoughts...what you liked the best and what you would have changed. I'm in the process of planning my wedding at Ana y Jose (which isn't until February) and I find the reviews so helpful. Congrats again! Lisa
