We used Custom T-Shirts - Design Your T-Shirts Online - Free Shipping! for our totes and included shot glasses and frisbees in the them. We put our names and wedding date on the shot glasses, but just the location (Tulum, Mexico) on the totes and frisbees so that they would be nice souvenirs for our guests. We also threw in some cheaper items like maracas, playing cards and packets of advil. We also customized some matchbooks that we are going to put out on the bar for people to take if they want. We bought those at ForYourParty.com Wedding favors, custom wedding napkins, party favors, and more. Make your special occasion unique with personalized favors!.

Hi britsytoll, My FI and I are not doing table seatings either. We just want to keep things casual and not deal with the stress of where people should sit. Are you reserving any seats for yourselves or close family?

Any help is appreciated :)
lisa_k replied to angelalanahung's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I am not very good with flower types, but I think that anything goes if it's what you want. Also, your colors sound awesome. I think it'll look great on the beach! As for your bridemaids, what if you just picked one of the flowers and had them carry a simple bouquet? Just an idea. I am having a mix of flowers for my bouquet (though I can't tell you which types...ha!) but then having my bridemaids carry simple bouquets of gerbera daisies. -
I agree. I think alot of photogs work in pairs so it would be really easy to say that you'd love it if both would take pics.

lisa_k replied to shellk's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Hi Girls! wow it's hard to keep up with this forum! I haven't checked it in a while and there's so many updates!! i had fun catching up :-) SusieQ - I love your dress. You look beatiful and so happy in it, which makes it perfect. vdaybride - I love the location for your AHR, if you decide to do it there. Awesome city views! I'm from NYC too. Wedding planning is coming along for well me. We just got our invites printed so we are mailing them out next week! And we ordered our wedding bands, not sure when they'll be ready but at least we picked them and they are in process. And we're going to Mexico next weekend for a site visit, tastings, hair trial, etc. Our parents are going also so it will be fun for them to see everything. I'm very excited for a little beach and warm weather!!! -
Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm a February bride also. Good luck with the planning!

What are you walking down the Aisle to?

Also, I would like to have a frist dance etc, and wondering if we will just take on music side of things because I dont think the resort does anything like that. any info would be great We are having a guitarist play at the ceremony. We have a DJ for the reception. Our wedding coordinator took care of the microphone & speakers, which we have to pay an hourly rental fee for. -
Did you do a group photo? Do you plan to?
lisa_k replied to chevy14's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We are going to have a pretty big wedding (130 people) and we are planning to do a group photo! It might not work, but it's worth a shot! We went to a destination wedding last year with about 80 people and they did a group photo...the photog got up on a small step ladder and took the pic that way. It was so nice because they sent the pic out with their thank you cards. I really liked the idea and I plan to copy it. So hopefully our picture will work out and we can do the same! -
Is a Welcome Dinner expected?
lisa_k replied to Danyelle's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We are doing a welcome dinner, but it's more of a cocktail party with some food on the side. I don't think it's necessary but we were thinking that everyone will want to get together to say hi after arriving. Also, our friends are big partiers. So we figured we'd let them get drunk on Thursday night so maybe they will be too worn out to party really hard on Friday night. That way, they're all rested up for the wedding on Saturday night! -
Jacilynda's Akumal Wedding Review w/ TONS of pics
lisa_k replied to Jacilynda's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Your pics look amazing. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the review. I'm getting married in Tulum, under a palapa and it seems kind of similar to yours. So it was nice to see your pics and get some ideas. Everything looked really great!!! -
Welcome to the forum! I am getting married at Ana y Jose in February. I have been very happy with our coordinator who seems to pay attention to every little detail. We are basically just planning a party on the beach...they are actually putting a dance floor down on the beach for us. We visited and loved the location and the food is great. I do agree with Malisa's comment earlier in this thread about the forced spending. I don't mind paying up for good quality, but there have been times when I've gotten frustrated with certain policies, such as the hotel reservations. They are requiring our guests to stay for 5 nights, which is too long for many people. Also, the hotel is separate from the beach club, which is where our wedding will be so we are providing transportation. There are other hotels that are closer to the beach club and may be easier to work with.

Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue
lisa_k replied to destinationbride07's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Thanks, girls! I'm glad it's not cheesy. I just wanted to do something a little different. I like the hanky panky idea too. Very cute! -
Not sure if anyone is still looking for Claudia and she hasn't responded to emails, but I just received an email from her saying that her laptop crashed and she lost alot of stuff. We have her booked already for our wedding in Feb, but she emailed again just to re-confirm everything. So if she's been slow with responding, that may be why...

Wow, that is so horrible. I'm sorry to hear about the lost stuff. I was thinking about shipping my OOT bags down, but now I'm going to bring them with me in my luggage. Plus, the shipping costs are outrageous! My wedding coordinator told me to just make sure to rip off any labels or tags that say "Made in China". I ordered a bunch of paper lanterns that I am carrying down with me and they are made in China. So I'm just going to take them out of their packaging before bringing them down with me. Just to be on the safe side.

Hi! The FI and I created an activities page on our wedding website with some ideas for people in and around Tulum. We are going back to Tulum for a site visit in November so we are going to check out more restaurants in the area and may add to that part of the site. Link is below. Lisa and Jon 2010 Hope this helps!

Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue
lisa_k replied to destinationbride07's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am going to walk down the aisle barefoot since we are getting married on the beach. So I am thinking about blue polish on my toes as my "something blue". Is anyone else doing this? I can't decide between: Essie - Aruba Blue Essie - Mesmerize OPI - No Room for the Blues OPI - Blue my Mind Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks :-)
