  2. Congrats and welcome to the forum. You'll figure out the language pretty quickly, but it is pretty confusing at first. I'm getting married on the Riviera Maya in February. I love it there!

It's especially great because you love it, so that's why I think you should totally go with it.
  4. You found some great vendors! I love the florist website. It looks like you got alot done during your site visit. Good luck on your next visit! Are you doing a rehearsal dinner?

Hi and welcome to the forum! Good luck with your invites. I used theknot.com to help me with my wording. They give you lots of choices, depending on who is throwing the wedding and whose names you want on the invite.

  8. I don't think you need to invite your future MIL at all. Especially if you are not close with her! My future MIL has 2 sons and just wants to be included in wedding planning, when possible. So I went shopping with my mom and sisters and narrowed down my choices, then I invited my future MIL to come along on a separate shopping trip so she felt included. My FI told me I got big points for that one! But I think you should only do what you feel comfortable with. It is your wedding after all. And it only happens once!

    Hello to all

Hi and welcome to the forum!
  10. Hi Everyone, This forum has been awesome for me in my wedding planning so far, but I haven't been able to find a thread on here that is just for Tulum brides. I'd love to hear from you, if you're out there! We are getting married at Ana y Jose Beach Club on Feb 27. We decided to do a Welcome Party at Playa Azul (which has a great bar/restaurant on the beach) and Rehearsal Dinner at Ana y Jose Hotel. The FI and I just went to Tulum for a site visit 2 weeks ago and I got a hair trial done by Nora (she was great!) and we did tastings at the Beach Club of our dinner choices and also of our wedding cupcakes, which are through Dolcet bakery. I'd love to hear what vendors others are using, your event locations, and hotels where your guests are staying. Any other Tulum brides?
  11. Hey Ladies, I just went to Mexico for a site visit and we brought down all of our OOT bags. We had ALOT of crap so we needed 6 large suitcases to fit it all, so we split it between the 6 of us. (The FI, our parents, and me.) The people at customs were sooooo nice to us. They looked through our bags, asked for receipts, but really there were no problems. Oh, and I let my dad do all the talking since he was like proud father of the bride who really had no clue about what he could carry into the country or where we were even staying, but he looked so touristy and honest that I'm sure they were like, how can we not trust this guy? It was kind of humorous to watch but I think it worked out well!

I stuck them directly into flower foam board and covered it all up with sand as the last step ~CC This is adorable!!! I love the idea.

That's amazing! Yes, it did! It's crazy because I expected them to last a week, tops. I made them exactly the way the directions said to. I am really happy with them because we can light them and drop them off at the wedding site and not worry about them for the rest of our trip, knowing they'll still be lit for our entire wedding!
  15. I was just at a wedding and they did the closest birthday also. I thought it was really cute. It got everyone at the table talking. Of the choices, I vote for the dancing. I think it's a good way to get the party started!

  17. Hi! Welcome to the forum! It's been a huge help, I'm sure you'll love using it.

  19. Hi! I'm getting married in Tulum in February 2010 at Ana y Jose. Our weddings are pretty close to each other's! 1 - We were not offered any discounts, so 15% sounds really good to me! 2 - I am heading to Tulum this weekend for a site visit and hair trial. I can send you a pic after. I'm not getting my makeup done though. 3 - We are helping to coordinate transportation in shuttles to/from the airport, but we are not paying for it. Our travel agent is helping to coordinate. We are going to have transportation that goes up and down the beach road for our events, since we have guests at a few different hotels. That we will pay for. Good luck with your planning!
  20. Update: My light is still lit! It's been like 3 weeks. I love this idea. And it's really not alot of work to put them together.

We'd like you to wear whatever you are most comfortable in, but if this helps, here's some ideas: Ladies Sundresses, skirts, dress shorts, light pants, etc. Pretty much anything you would wear when going out for a nice dinner on vacation. As for shoes, anything goes (flip flips, sandals, bare foot, etc.). Whichever you prefer. Gentlemen Khakis or light pants, dress shorts, long- or short-sleeved button downs, collared shirts. No ties or jackets are needed, but welcome if you'd like! As for shoes, anything goes (flip flips, sandals, barefoot, etc.) Whichever you prefer.
  22. Hi Nicole! Welcome to the forum. It's a great resource. Tulum is a great choice -- I love it there!

  24. Hi Girls, This thread is awesome. I wish I found it before I dress shopped! I had no idea where to start. I did NOT want to go to Kleinfeld at all, but I ended up caving and went. I wanted to try to stick with smaller boutiques, if possible. I went to a sample sale at Adrienne's on the LES (hated it), Saja in Nolita (dresses weren't my style) , Nicole Miller in Soho (thought it was great, but didn't find the perfect dress). I ended up finding my dress at Veka on Mott St. in Nolita. I had my Kleinfeld appt. after Veka and I actually had a nice experience there. But the best part was that they had sooooo many dresses and I tried on a ton. But none of them were better than the dress that I found at Veka. So it helped me confirm my decision :-) One of Veka's two owners will help you at your appt and they are so nice and patient! I went to the store 3x to try on my dress with different people (my mom, FI's mom, my best friend) and the never seemed to get annoyed. I would definitely recommend it.
