    Sad news

I'm sending you lots of hugs today. Pets have such a huge impact on our lives. Sorry for your loss!
  5. It is your wedding and you should do whatever feel right to you and FI, makes you happy and is the least stressful! I am definitely a little out of the norm on this thread and I totally owe it to FI. He honestly has the biggest mouth and can't keep a secret to save his life. It makes me happy that he is excited about getting married, but sometimes he just talks too much. Anyways, we are going to be in Vegas for a kickball tourney a month before the wedding so we decided to make it legal at the Little White Wedding Chapel drive thru - LOL. It was just going to be us and 2 friends, but then FI told his parents. So I had to tell my parents because I felt bad about keeping a secret from them. My mom has a huge mouth so she told a bunch of people. And then FI told our kickball team and some of the un-bridesmaids. So you can see it escalated really quickly. Instead of fighting it and being mad, I decided to embrace his enthusiasm. We booked a 30 person limo and invited our parents and siblings (none of them are probably coming). We also invited some people who are going to Vegas with us for the tournament and then we are going to go VIP party somewhere afterwards. The point is that everyone knows that Mexico is our “real” wedding with a traditional dress, ceremony and reception. Vegas is just a formality and another reason to pull our friends together for a party. I also justified buying a short white dress and birdcage veil so I could be a trendy Vegas bride - tehehehehehe
  6. I'm doing the trial and pictures at home like most of the other girls. But, my hairsylist is also a friend and invited to the wedding so hopefully she can come to Mexico! As for extensions, my best friend just got married and there was a hair cut incident during her original trial a couple of weeks before the wedding. She ended up getting the clip in hair extensions from a wig shop and they were super easy to put in. Here are a couple of pics. I don't think you can even tell she has them in... and they stayed perfectly curled all night long!
  7. did you already send them? if not, maybe you could use something similar to the sayings that people put on the diy key/tip holders.... maybe something like this: Please accept this handy cover to have and to hold your beloved passport. Take it as a symbol to acquire or renew this most important document on your trip to our wedding. Have it endure the great honor or safeguarding your passport and tourist card during your vacation until you return to the States.
  8. Grace - I just looked at your site and you guys are doing a similar trip that FI and I took when we got engaged! Except we went to London first and then got engaged in Paris The chateau looks like an amazing place to get married!!!

  10. Can't go wrong with stuff from Oriental Trading Company. I have been buying junk from them for years!
  11. Welcome! This is a great site regardless of location. Happy planning
  12. Yea! They are coming to Phoenix I'm putting the date to buy tix on my calendar. I hope Randi gets paired with a strong guy because I think she has so much potential and Evan was dragging her down. And Jeanine is so darn cute - she definitely has a star quality and I bet we'll see her on something else someday. Can't wait to see the new partners. Wouldn't it be funny to see Melissa and Evan dance together... I'm still not a huge fan of any of the guys, but am happy that Philip will be touring because he is just so funky and I love to watch him perform.
  13. I heart zappos, but if you are worried about FI seeing them when they ship... try something local like Nordstroms. The return policies for both are amazing!
  14. If you can't get it sized, I would definitely try to have someone make it custom. I am having to do that and they are saying it will only take about a month.
  15. I don't think Oct is too soon. I am putting Nov 1 on mine because the RSVP includes the wedding on Dec 5 and the AHR on Jan 2. For the wedding we are also talking to and having our moms talk to people we think will come and making sure they RSVP as soon as they book. We have about 75% of the anticipated number already RSVPd. I kinda feel like the invite RSVP is just a formality, mainly for our AHR, and really for those last minute lucys who might decide out of the blue to come to Mexico.
  16. The Dreams Puerto Vallarta WC told me they only did 1 per day. I'm going to be a little upset if there are a ton going on the same day
  17. Welcome back Ash! Hope everything was amazing. Speaking of photogs... can't wait to see your pics
  18. Hi NYC Bride! Just wanted to let you know that I know everything will work out regardless of who is at the wedding. NONE of my long time friends are coming to Mexico (all have totally lame excuses). But ALL of my friends that I have made in the last 5 years are coming. It's funny how things work out! Keep up the positive attitude and have some fun with the planning! It sounds like you have an awesome FI
  19. Yea! I actually got to watch it last night! Poor Jeanine and Phillip - I felt like I was watching the It's a Small World ride at Disneyland. I really like Phillip when he is doing his style, but dang he looks bad with Jeanine since she is so good. Loved loved loved the Mia Michaels dance with Kayla and Kupono, although he did look pretty evil! Definitely my favs this year are the girls. I'm rooting for Randi and Melissa. Hopefully they will get strong partners next week, but I'm not really sure any of the guys can stand up to them. I bet Evan or Jason and Caitlin or Janette go home. Janette because her hair still annoys me (I'm shallow, I know, sorry).
  20. I think finding the photog has been the hardest part of planning. There are sooooo many options out there! If you want to stay local, I liked Paulina Ulloa and Elizabeth Lloyd's pictures and both have great reviews on BDW, but they certainly aren't cheap. I am really stoked about mine and Jessica's photog (Nathan Cordova), I did have to pay for his airfare but his price was so amazing I couldn't pass it up.
  21. Yeah, most people on here put unofficial bridesmaid and I definitely questioned my version. But I used un-bridesmaid because it was shorter and to me it had the same meaning as not-a-bridesmaid. I figured I was going to have to explain it to them anyways - why not make up words and meaings for your own wedding It always helps to see what someone else did to get your ideas moving! Good luck! Here is the top 5 list that I copied and modified from several people on BDW -Thanks girls! THE TOP 5 REASONS TO BE MY UN-BRIDESMAID DRESS: You don’t have to buy a bridesmaid dress FLOWERS: I need someone to pretend to want to catch the bouquet PARTY: I know you will help plan an awesome bachelorette bash POTTY: Please help me go to the bathroom in a gigantic dress BEACH: You can go to Puerto Vallarta and dance at the Cheeky Monkey LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH But the real reason you should be my un-bridesmaid is... You are one of my best friends and I can’t imagine doing this without you!
  22. Steph - I did the local price thing because my mom wanted me to get married in Texas and all of FI's family is in Kansas. It was more expensive for the Kansas family to come to Texas than to Mexico! I told my mom this (didn't send the exact prices, but mentioned it when she was complaining in the beginning) and she totally blew up on me. Told me I was selfish and to stop throwing money stuff in her face and not everyone is as rich as FI's family. First off FI's family isn't rich and second off my family isn't poor and thirdly me and FI are paying for almost everything. She has finally come around, but those inital few months of planning were absolutely miserable. Now everything is fine and my mom is even going to come to our legal ceremony in Vegas! Total 180 for her and almost no complaints from people anymore. Things will get better as long as you just ignore all the negative nancys in the world
