  1. Cute story! And only 5 days until your wedding!!!!!
  2. That was really nice of you to take and post the pics!
  3. Yea for SYTYCD! I finally watched last weeks and fast forwarded thru most of it. I like Ryan better than his brother Evan, but whats up with the roomie trying out too. Its funny how related all of the dancers seem to be. FI loves the show but would shoot me if I told anyone
  4. Please don't let the negativity get to you. Almost all DW brides get these kind of comments. The whole guest cost thing is a bunch of bs. If we got married in Phoenix both of our families would have had to travel from TX and KS. For the same travel costs they are going to an AI in Mexico. I've been to weddings all over the US and no one said jack about the travel costs becuase they were traditional weddings. Most people just don't think before they open their mouths. Hope everything works out for you!
  5. Smokin shoes! Totally don't chicken out. My BD shoot was an awesome experience and I really couldn't believe how amazing the pics turned out. I actually picked up my book this weekend and had to wrap and hide it so I can keep it a secret until December. Agh it's so hard keeping things from FI. Besides these pics are the perfect excuse to buy more wedding lingerie )
  6. That's really snotty of her. It is very admirable that you are being the bigger person and trying to change your date. I honestly believe it will save you stress in the long run. I had to deal with this when 2 of my cousins (same side of the family) got married on the same day and it reallly created some animosity between family and friends. I was in one of the weddings and it was a huge event (over 500 guests, planned for 2 years, etc.) and the other one was total shot gun (still rented a hall and stuff, but planned in 2 months). The shot gun bride couldn't understand why driving around town all day between 2 weddings was a big deal. Some people just don't get it. Good luck in whatever works out for you!
  7. We went with stadium cups because I am using them as favors for our AHR as well and they fit into our budget. Besides, for Mexico we just like to have a little bit bigger cup than the ones the AI resorts serve beer in. Our motto is if your beer is getting hot you are drinking too slow We ordered 22 oz. cups in orange with white art and they look fab. 8. Wow! 16 suits! I'm sure no one will notice any color differences. Quote: Originally Posted by FoxyBride I'm happy to report that we sucessfully ordered 16 suits from this company! I didn't see pics of each which would really be helpful... what did you all order and how did they fit? Thanks a million!! -katie
  9. Hi Allyson! Have you checked out the Dreams PV thread since your getting married there? A ton of great info over in that section ) Here's how we handled the guest list... 1. Did some incognito questioning to the people we really wanted there and those we knew would come then compiled our "must invite" list. This list also included our guess at who would be there. 2. Sent 85 STDs to the "must invite" list and then my FI bugged the crap out of people we thought would go until they booked 3. Sent 150 invites that included the DW and AHR. The 65 invites that did not get STDs were not included in our DW "guess" and like we thought have shown no interest in coming to PV. We have only had 4 people book who I really didn't think were going to come, but they were on our "guess" list so no big. I don't want to jinx anything as we set our RSVP date for Novemeber 1, but it looks like we are going to be within 10% of our initial estimate for the DW. Hope this helps and good luck planning! 10. I bought mine from Pouch & Coil and was really happy with the service. If you only need 20 and don't care about color, you could have them ship you the free samples pack that includes one of each color that they sell.
  11. Thanks to everyone serving in their country's military!
  12. They are fabulous!!!! You look amazing and your photog is way creative. Thanks for sharing!
  13. That was so kool of the girls! Get better soon
  14. You are not alone! I can actually do 1 pull up on my own now, and always end up finishing the push ups girly style As long as you are pushing yourself then it is working!!
  15. I'm impressed your FI is wearing a tux! IMO I like when the flowers have color just to give a little "pop" to the white and black. I considered red for your same reason but ended up going with orange. Although... we are having a Crazy Christmas Sweater Happy Hour for our guests one night before the wedding Quote: Originally Posted by Patti Thanks, Karla and Autjo. I feel much better. I was considering red, thinking it might be pretty being so close to Christmas, however, I've always liked the ivory/white wedding bouquets too.
  16. Thanks I did a print screen then cropped the image in paint. The images were too big for BDW so I put them in a .doc to post. I'm sure there is a better way to do it, but that seemed the fastest to me... Quote: Originally Posted by emme I love your brochures!! They look fantastic!! 17. I think mine turned out great and I agree it was very difficult to decide what data to put in them. I don't have any pics of them since I'm at work, but I do have the image from online. I used 12 pt for most of the info and 22 pt for the headings. One the page with the bride and groom at the top the orange font is 16 pt. Also the dotted black lines are just guides and aren't printed on the brochure. Hope this helps! pre_wed_brochure.doc
  18. Welcome to the forum Patti! I looked up the sunset time in Cabo on that date and it is 5:19 so I think your timeline is perfect. I would make sure that you stay on top of your WC to maintain the timeline for the ceremony and cake cutting because a lot of people run on "Mexico" time and won't feel the urgency you need to get pics before the sun sets. Also 6-9 for dinner and then hanging out at the lobby bar sounds great. Maybe check with the WC to see if they have music in the bar on that date. Happy planning Quote: Originally Posted by Patti Hi, Ladies. I'm getting married in December at the Hilton Los Cabos. It's going to be a very small wedding with only 11 of us. I would, very much, appreciate your ideas on a couple of concerns that I have. Our photogragher says that the ceremony should be 4:30 -5:00, in order to have the sunset in our pictures. Then, we're going to have the cake cutting ceremony - just for pictures during the sunset and the WC said that would last about 10 minutes. Then, there will be pictures with everyone. (We're just having the photogragher for one hour and he'll start with the ceremony - I guess). The WC suggested that we have drinks/champagne for about 30 minutes on one of the terraces, before having our dinner at 6:00pm - and after dinner, we'll actually eat the cake. Does 6:00 for dinner seem too early to y'all? I just don't know what else to do with this group? Keep in mind, that we all are in our mid-50's, except for my mother and the 4 kids in their 30's. The WC has us down for dinner from 6pm - 9pm. Not sure it's going to take that long but what should we do afterwards? The only thing I know to do is hang out at the Lobby Bar, which would be fine. What do y'all think?
  19. I'm sorry to hear about the WC and dates. I hope everything gets figured out soon!!! He/She should be in touch with you atleast bi-weekly at this point if not weekly. It has been an awful 48 hours. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...-38#post974761
  20. Oh and I forgot.... the stadium cups we ordered are scheduled for delivery today! Wahooooo!!!!
  21. Hi ladies! Happy Thursday! I have an iphone app with a bunch of tickers and today is 1 month until our legal day - yipeeeee!!!! Yea for dress fittings! Karen, IMO, I wouldn't go with Davids. I bought my dress there too, but they are way over priced with little to no customer service in most alterations departments. Go with something like Jamie mentioned to get better service and price. Quote: Originally Posted by KarenM I'm still debating whether to trust my alterations to (stupid) Davids Bridal or find someone else. I'm thinking about going to the Wedding Accessory Superstore because they are close to the house but really I haven't done any research yet on the alterations. I don't have a normal alterations place I go to, so I found someone on Yelp and she has been fantastic. If you're hesitant about David's Bridal, I would check places like Yelp or Angie's List for some recommendations. She was also extremely reasonable - less than $200 for everything! (At first I thought this was expensive, until I heard how much my friends had paid.) Jill - your shower sounds like so much fun! LOL at your FMIL. My PITA is my mom, she is a total head case about the wedding. And I mean that in the nicest way Quote: Originally Posted by J&MWedding Oh, I am so excited about it! I agree, I seriously thought the day would never get closer - because we were engaged about 13 months before our wedding date - but it will be here before you know it! and then you will look back and think where did all the time go!! but it's still exciting! I just had my first dress fitting today!!! woo hoo! so exciting! I didn't want to take my dress off I totally look at my dress all the time. It is just hanging in the closet taunting me. I even love my legal day dress Quote: Originally Posted by Future Mrs. Griffith And I can't even express how excited I am for you to get to try on your dress and start the fitting process! One bridal place I went to said a lot of their brides come visit their dress once it comes in and all the way up until their fittings! I kinda laughed, like what silly people, but now that I ordered my dress it doesn't seem so silly (especially since I look at pictures of it a lot). I wouldn't put it past myself to go visit my dress. And like Karen said, where are the pics?? You know we are all picture whores!
