Our reception at Las Palmas was set up just like Karen's. But we did not have the lounge furniture, we were supposed to have high tables for the cocktail, but that didn't happen. I would have done 2 things differently: 1) hired a DJ that I picked out (the resort one was terrible and I talked about it in my review) 2) hired a coordinator (at least for the day). The DJ was the only thing I complained about because I paid way too much for him to suck. I didn't complain about the resort WC because you get what you pay for, and you basically get their services for free with any wedding package. Even though I was OCD organized, and the coordinator made comments on how organized I was, and we walked through every diagram and detail beforehand, you just can't expect a meeting organizer (what Dreams calls their WC) to be one of those Style Me Pretty wedding planners. IMHO if you are a go with the flow kinda person and don't care about the details, then use the resort WC. You are guaranteed a great wedding and party that all of your guests will rave about. But if you are a details kinda gal, hire a pro to do it magazine perfect. Just my 2 cents...

Unfortunately the review does not have any details about what went wrong. I mentioned in my review that if you want everything to be exactly detail perfect, the hotel WC is not the person to go to. They are more of a location/food coordinator. Meaning that they will make sure you will have a place to have the wedding and reception and make sure there is some food and drink. If you want the details, you need to hire an outside WC. Since you are already working with DD I highly doubt you will have any problems. DD appears to be pretty amazing. As for the rooms, the older tower was just a 90's hotel room. They are a lot cheaper than other AI hotel's standard rooms because they haven't been renovated. Half of my party stayed in these rooms and were content. Nothing to write home about, but they had comfy beds, clean baths and ocean views. That was a year ago so maybe something has changed. If I was to do it again, I would really encourage my guests to book the new tower because they are nicer and have a private bar in the lobby (;

If you are looking for the Cabo area, I hear the Dreams Cabo pool is ah-maze-ing. I also read wonderful things about Casa Velas in PV. IMHO I would stay away from the Riu, Be Live and Royal chains. I just haven't been impressed by them... food is meh, service is spotty and too many rules to worry about. Like the Royal PDC won't let you eat by the pool, Be Live Grand Cancun has strange rules about the different levels and drinks, and Riu you have to make restaurant reservations.

I had a lot of fun making my invites. It certainly isn't for everyone, but if you are creative and patient, then go for it! Here is a link to my thread with pics and templates. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/48691/autumn-s-invites I do a lot of design in PowerPoint and Publisher. It is easy to move stuff around and get the text positioned just like you want, without having to use PhotoShop. skp1 - depending on the version of PowerPoint you have, you need to use a version of Word Art to make the text circle, slant, etc. As for paper I order everything from paperandmore.com. I love their quality, price and customer service. I would definitely order samples so you can get a feel for the weight, texture, etc. And to print, pay a professional! The quality that you get from a print shop (yes, even Kinkos/Staples/etc.) is what makes the invites look professional. Just make sure to factor that cost into your budget. Can't wait to see you all of you girls come up with! Happy creating (;

What kind of wedding problems did you have Dreams2011? That info will be helpful for other brides who are getting ready for their wedding. We actually went to the Royal PDC and Gran Porto over Thanksgiving and thought the food, service and quality was terrible compared to our experiences at Dreams PV and Dreams Cancun. I wonder why Dreams PV service is lacking nowadays... In regards to beach privacy, I think you are safe at either end of the resort. The beach is basically private because the mountains flank it on both sides.

This is such an important topic that no one really wants to talk about. Don't be offended by your FIL... he is doing it for business not as a personal attack. And I totally agree to definitely make sure that the pre-nup protects you and your interests if something bad were to happen. Good luck with it!

Hi there and Happy 2011! I just finished my first collection and wanted to share it with all of my friends on BDW. I'm calling it the Falling For You Collection. It was inspired by Valentine's Day, but I took a departure from the traditional pink. You can find all the details over on etsy: www.AutumnJo.com. Enjoy! -

If you search for AHR (At Home Reception) you will find a ton of ideas. Here is a link to my AHR thread. I was going to wear my dress again, but decided to wear a short dress from BCBG. Happy planning! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/54773/autumn-s-texas-sized-ahr -
cborsa ~ Take a deep breath sweetie. My guess is they are focusing on all of the weddings that are happening right now (this is the start of their wedding season). There are several BDW Desties getting married at Dreams this month and I'm sure they will come back with great advice and insight on the new WC. Try the emails that I posted earlier in the thread. And if you are still worried, you can try talking to the resort on twitter or facebook or even calling them.
