  2. Thanks everyone!! He used Adobe Illustrator to design them I believe He is definitely doing a lot more DIY designing for me LOL. I have him lined up for the small card we're including with the STD with the booking information, the Invites, Response Cards, likely a resort brochure, an all kinds of other various projects
  3. FH is a graphic designer and put together my save the dates for me I basically just told him 1) white, blue & pink 2) palm trees & a hibiscus and 3) fun! They turned out great and I wouldn't let him change anything lol. We bought a set if invitations from Walmart ($18 for 100 white flat invitations & envelopes) and we're going to print them and mail them hopefully this coming weekend!!!
  4. We booked our wedding about 3-4 weeks ago for our wedding in Varadero, Cuba in May 2010. We were given an all-inclusive price of $1022.50 + taxes for a grand total of $1253.50 per person leaving from Toronto to Cuba on May 1st and returning on May 8, 2010. We are staying at the Iberostar Laguna Azul. Once a person puts down their $200 deposit, their rate is secured. We put down the initial deposit of $2000 ($200 each for 10 people) to secure our group rate. Once a person puts down their deposit, the rate will not change. In our case, people who are not putting down deposits right now (some waiting a few months) will be subject to any price changes made. We have our trip booked, wedding date secured with the resort and we have also just received tentative flight times. We used Breakaway Travel in Oshawa, Ontario.
  5. We are going to Varadero Cuba from May 1-8, 2010 for our wedding (Wedding date is May 5th). Our honeymoon will then be a Royal Caribbean Cruise from May 9-16, 2010. It will be a little bit of chaos since we have to Fly from Toronto to Cuba, Cuba back to Toronto. Then for the honeymoon flight out the next morning to Florida, Cruise and then back to Toronto! I'm so excited & ready for it though! I can't wait

Hi Lolita! I'm getting married at the Iberostar Laguna Azul too! But ours is after yours, May 2010. Have you been able to secure your wedding date yet with the resort? We just started our group booking with our travel agent today. The resort is scheduled to open on June 16, 2009.

  8. Hello Ladies! FH & I are going in to do our group booking for our wedding next May at the Iberostar Laguna Azul. The resort is opening mid-June of this year and looks like it is going to be fantastic. My question to you is how did you go about reserving your wedding date? I went onto Iberostar.com and couldn't seem to find anything about reserving the wedding date! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  9. I'm a 2010 bride too! FH and I were engaged May 2008 at Disney World and are planning our DW wedding for May 5, 2010 in either Ocho Rios, Jamaica or Los Cabos, Mexico!
  10. Hello everyone! I'm new to the site and really considering getting married at the Riu Santa Fe in May 2010! I was doing some searching and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I thought it would be neat if we could all post some of the pricing we found for the little extras available such as chair covers, extra decorations, after dinner receptions, private receptions, renting the disco, etc. That way it can all be found in one place So to start so far I've seen the following: Riu Bridesmaid Bouquets = $70 USD each Riu Boutonieres = $30 USD each Disco Rental = $500 USD (for approx 2 hours, with bar staff & dj)
  11. Paul & I were on our trip to Orlando, Florida in May 2008. We had planned out our whole trip beforehand knowing which day we'd be at which park and so on. On Tuesday May 8th we were spending the day at Animal Kingdom (which by the way is STUNNING!). It took us a while to figure out how we wanted to spend our day but after looking at the map and schedule we decided to get the Character Meet & Greet out the of way bright and early hoping to avoid any long lines later in the day. First up was Goofy. We waited in line to have our photo taken and we were getting fairly close and Paul excused himself to use the washroom. He came back with no problems and I was still waiting in line. A few more minutes go by and he decides to use the washroom again. I am now in panic mode since we're about 2 people away from the front of the line and I hate being disorganized. He made it back perfectly fine and our photo was taken with no problems. I wanted to take my photo next with Minnie but Paul insisted we see Mickey first since the line was shorter. We waited in line for about a half hour and finally made it up to the front of the line. I got all excited (I'm a huge Mickey & Minnie fan) and got my hug from Mickey first. We had our photo taken and I went to leave the gazebo but Mickey's "handler" stopped and said she had a special surprise. She then announced "Guests we have a special surprise today for this lady" and she smiled and gave Paul the ring box. A little bit of confusion happened since Paul thought Mickey was going to actually propose but once he realized he wasn't he got down on one knee and proposed in front of the whole crowd of people!! I was shocked and of course said YES!! The crowd clapped and as we walked away Mickey's handler announced throughout the whole line that we had just gotten engaged with Mickey Mouse. Paul set the whole thing up in a matter of minutes when he had to use the "washroom" while I was waiting in line with Goofy. He found a handler, trusted her enough to tell her what was happening and let her hold onto the ring. I couldn't have asked for a more fun and relaxed proposal that completely suits our personalities. The best part about it (other than the gorgeous ring and being engaged of course) was that the whole thing was caught on camera! We had purchased a professional photography package so the photographer snapped about 30 pictures of the proposal and I'm so thankful that I have those memories to keep.
  12. Thank you for the warm welcome! We narrowed it down last night to 3 resorts: Riu Ocho Rios, Jamaica Paradisus Varadero, Cuba Riu Santa Fe/Palace, Los Cabos, Mexico All have their pros and cons so now its onto emailing the resorts to find out some information! I'll definitely be looking into the reviews here for help
  13. Hello Everyone! I have to say that this is a fantastic forum from what I've seen so far! My name is Lisa and I'm from Ontario, Canada. We are getting married May 2010. We had originally planned on getting married that the Riu Ocho Rios in Jamaica however the cost has me feeling a little bit guilty ($1800-1900 per person). We're now looking into Jamaica, Varadero, Cuba & Los Cabos, Mexico. We're hoping to make a decision soon so that we can book! I look forward to reading more threads! ~Lisa~
