  1. No offense, but your aunt sounds really rude!! I think it is perfectly fine to have a shower... they are invited and if they can't come to the wedding as long as you don't make them feel bad about it, it should be fine. The purpose of the shower is to celebrate something special - the fact you are getting married. You shouldn't have to skip a shower just because you are having a destination wedding. If they are invited to the wedding, you should invite them to the shower. If they opt not to go, that's their choice and you shouldn't be offended, but she should just decline and NOT make you feel bad or take it away from you!!! Sorry you are going through this!!!
  2. I agree... I understand not wanting to spend anything additional, but they are paying a lot of money and it could be a huge inconvenience to them and not that big of an expense for you if you put it in perspective. I would try to cut somewhere else if I were you.

  7. congratulations!!! my advice is somewhere special to you two, or just anywhere you love!!!
  8. ok i am totally in love with the TTD idea and want to do it for sure. i do have a couple of questions: 1. timing - i definitely think the next morning is ideal because i may have to pay for our photographers to stay overnight anyway, but who in the world would do my hair and makeup before sunrise? and, would you be too tired that early the day after all the wedding festivities? 2. cancun brides - where are you guys taking your TTD photos? i'd love to do them near the ruins on the beach, but is that crazy out of the way?
  9. i loooove those chairs, they are gorgeous! so simple and elegant!
  10. i'm going to walk by myself, i think. wish i could take my dog!
  11. Ugh, that sucks!!! I know that my mom is under a lot of financial stress and is single, so I just expect to pay for her because I really want her there. It sounds like your fiance is really close to her... if you can't contribute the full $100, maybe you can contribute something but not that much? Either way, it's ok to say you can't afford it and support finding ways to help out... like maybe you can help her find someone to room with, etc? Sisters are touchy... I've SOOOOOOOOO been there! Good luck!
  12. I'm torn between letting everyone just relax and do whatever on thier own or together because it's their vacation and they may not want a lot of plans - but then again, it may help break the ice before the big day. Someone on a different thread had an awesome idea - give each guest some sort of mardi gras bead or lei or something so they can identify other guests... and / or invite people to join at the lobby bar if they wish on the first night everyone gets there. Better for budgets and feels less like an obligation, I think...but I don't know, maybe I'll get a vote going

I happen to have an artist for a BFF/MOH, so I was thinking about asking her to do a portrait of me as a 50s style pin-up girl to give to him as a wedding gift. I guess I'm just looking to surprise him! Do you think this would have the same effect as a boudoir photo shoot?? Any thoughts would be appreciated! Happy New Year everyone! I love love love this idea!!! That would be hella hot! Plus, you could wear something real sexy but that makes you feel confident. My friend did her engagement pics with a 50s pin up theme and they turned out really awesome. The theme is hot!
