  1. Hi Everyone! I have two questions: 1. Is there some place on this forum where we can post our wedding date to see what other destination brides will be getting married at Dreams Tulum during that same week? That may be really helpful for coordinating, and maybe we can even cut costs by sharing decorations?? 2. Aurora wrote me back that the Seaside Grill is not a very private location. Can any destination brides that have been to Dreams Tulum help me decide on a reception location that is private(ish) and has a cement floor with an overhang... basically, i want the tables to be set up on the sand but be next to an outdoor/indoor area, one with a cement floor and an overhang so that guests can dance there and we don't have to pay extra for a dance floor on the beach. Any suggestions??

  4. thanks for the great advice, ladies! i was thinking about a catamaran tour or a trip to the caverns, or ruins... not quite sure yet, have to search around. I am a bit behind but grad school is kicking my butt and the wedding keeps getting put off... i am just now getting the invites made and the wedding is less than 6 months away ooooops! lol
  5. We are planning an excursion for our guests the day after the wedding. Since we are paying for it, we'd like our guests to RSVP on the reply card for that in addition to the wedding but are struggling with the wording... how can we word the reply card to have guests RSVP for both events, the wedding/ceremony and the excursion the next day? Thanks in advance for ideas!!
  6. nevermind, sorry (i don't know how to delete this post now that i've written it) :/
  7. Hi Ladies!! Day before the wedding question here: 1. Are you allowed to rehearse in the location where your ceremony will take place? 2. What do we do about a rehearsal dinner? Do we have to pay per person as we do for the wedding reception or can we just go with the group to dinner after having a rehearsal?
  8. Hi Ladies I am excited to share that our date (June 28, 2010) and time (6pm) are booked! Now the real planning begins, though from reading this forum it seems like there isn't too too much i can do before i get there? The advice i keep reading over and over is to not stress out b/c when you get there everything falls into place. As much as i'd like to follow that advice, i'm not so good with the wait it out and it will fall into place stuff hahaha. I have a question to those brides that did (or are planning on doing) their reception on the beach: is it usually in the same stop as your ceremony (so are they breaking down the ceremony set up and putting up reception stuff during your cocktail hour?) And if you had a DJ, did you put down a dance floor on the beach? If so, how expensive is that? I can't imagine dancing in the sand so it may make sense to put down the dance floor but i don't want to break the bank either! Did many of you hire the DJ from the resort? Thanks in advance!! Mil Besos
  9. I just made the deposit and booked my date at Dreams Tulum! So excited!!!! Thanks for posting that link to the photos! They got me thinking of a few questions myself: 1. one of the pictures has resort guests in the background lounging in chairs... how do we avoid that? haha 2. the couples seems to be having their reception on the beach (which is what we want) and they seem to be dancing just fine (on the sand?) right there is no need to get the "dance floor" that is offered in the wedding options, right? 3. what decorations does the resort provide? do they offer paper lanterns or do we have to bring them with us? In terms of your post, how come you don't know whether you're reception will be on the beach or at Seaside Grill? I "reserved" the beach for my reception, but does that not mean that i am guaranteed to get it?? Quote: Originally Posted by starlitk Hi everyone! I have a few questions about paper lanterns. We are planning to use the really helpful post I found on BDW http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t37079 to DIY our paper lanterns for the reception. I can't decide how many we think we'll need. We don't know whether we are going to get the Seaside Grill or the beach for our reception until 2 weeks before the wedding (ugh), so we'll need to be prepared for either. So, do any former brides know how many paper lanterns you used to decorate either a Seaside Grill or beach reception? If so, can you direct me to any pictures you have? Has anyone strung Christmas lights around, also? If so, how many did you bring, and where did you use them? For decorating a beach reception, I've seen pictures of other receptions that have used paper lanterns them by stringing them between large poles (you can see some at a DT wedding here: Craig Wolfrom :: Wedding Photography :: Idaho, California, Mexico, and Beyond: January 2009). Does anyone know anything about these poles? Are they already set up, or would we have to set those poles up? Is this a certain part of the beach that I would need to request in order to get this? Any help you have would be great! Thanks!
  10. Thanks Blkatz! You just gave me a great idea to ask my cantor! is it still "religiously legal" or whatever if a cantor and not a rabbi marries you?? The other thing i left out of my post was a question about Landy - is it normal for her to take weeks to reply? both times i wrote her, i had to wait about 10 days average to hear back :/
  11. Hi Everyone! Thank you so so much for this thread!! Dave and I are about 99.9% sure we will be planning a wedding at Dreams Tulum, so far it is the absolute favorite for us. We had a few questions to those who have planned or are currently planning wedding here. If you are able to help, it would be SUCH a great service to us. Feel free to private message me or leave answers here, i'll check back regularly 1. We are in desperate search of a rabbi. Landy said there isn't one at Dreams or near by. Any Jewish brides or grooms that can help with this? Our rabbi won't travel with us :/ 2. How do you go about decorations? Are there options or are you supposed to bring with you what you want and they decorate it for you? 3. How do you chose WHICH package to purchase (for the down payment, etc) when you aren't sure how many guests will attend?? 4. I do not plan on renting out the ballroom and a private dj for the night - isn't there a "night club" at the resort? Have wedding parties just taken place there, utilizing the resort's already provided entertainment?? Or is the night club not really as great as they make it seem?? 5. Would ya'll recommend opting for the private dinner/cocktail hour on the beach after the ceremony or just going to one of the included restaurants with the wedding guests? Is this even an option depending on number of guests? What are you all doing? I think that's it for now Any and all answers are welcome, i'd LOVE to know what everyone is doing. And if this isn't the right place to post these questions, i'm so sorry - i'm definitely new to all this Thanks!! Galina
  12. Thanks for all the reviews and feedback you left after your wedding!! It's so helpful to me as someone considering Dreams Tulum for our wedding :)
  13. Hi everyone! I am so glad to have found this site!! It's already been super helpful. My partner and I are planning a destination wedding in Mexico, we're not 100% sure where yet, but are considering a few places, including Dreams Tulum. We know the wedding will be next summer, most likely the first week of July. The only problem we're having (for now...) is finding a rabbi?? The packages all include a minister or "non-denominational" judge but we've always wanted a rabbi to marry us and are struggling with giving that up. Anyone have any advice for finding a rabbi in Mexico. Also, does anyone have advice for all-inclusive resorts that have great wedding packages other than Dreams Tulum?? Nice to meet you all and thanks for this great site!!
