HI Jenna & welcome! I am getting married at the Azul Beach but its not as popular, so I stay on the Sensatori thread. The WCs and pricing are all the same. I picked it b/c it was small and allowed kids. Really there is no other choice for these 2 criteria in the Riviera Maya! Plus all of the reviews have been so positive. The planning process is not fabulous, as I think we are all suffering from sticker shock. If you have a small group, then a private affair wont be that expensive - or maybe that necessary? The bigger you go the more money you'll spend - even needing extra chairs at the ceremony and maybe a microphone at dinner for speeches. It all adds up! However girls, I got a great quote for 2 tall glass vases filled with gladiolas to sit at the front of the beach canopy during our ceremony - only $43 each. This is what they would cost if I sent them to someone in the US using proflowers or 1800flowers, etc. So, good value for the money!! Have a good day everyone!

Are you getting your stay for free or getting any other perks?
amybermuda replied to yesther's topic in Honeymoon Forum
It's not the deal that bothers me, its my TA saying to the tour operator, "correct me if I am wrong, but you cannot get any better prices that this, right?" Who negotiates like that??!! -

I am glad at least I am not the only one with a dud travel agent. She is a one person shop and totally clueless. We are getting absolutely nothing in perks. I am going to go to my hotel directly to see what they can do. Does anyone know if you can switch TAs midway through? Could I transfer all of our reservations to someone else? My TA actually said to the tour operator yesterday on the phone "My client thinks you can negotiate better rates for her because she is booking 15-20 rooms at the hotel. This is not something you can do, correct?" Even the tour Operator was a little taken aback and told her they can look for promotions and offer rate matches. I really need to ditch this lady like a bad habit! -
Don't worry Carrie - 10 days means 2 full weekends of getting all of that done - and elicit help from your family & friends. If I was your friend, I would come clean your house for your soon to be hubby's return from Afghanistan!!! And remember that no one will notice if they don't get the OOT bags or everything in them you want to do, or if you drop the sand ceremony, etc. My sister forgot so many things for her wedding and she was the only one who even knew! Good luck!!!

Glad you feel better ! It has its ups and downs along the way, but I think deep down you know its what you want. Anyone who chooses to come does so for the right reason. We also helped some people pay for an extra night to extend their stay. That was well appreciated. I know that if someone else had their wedding in Mexico, that I would be excited to attend!

Welcome to all the new brides!! My only suggestions so far are to negotiate now with the wedding planners before you sign those contracts. Azul Beach is now offereing a free Wedding ($2500 silver package it looks like) for new wedding contracts. I am trying to get my travel agent to have them accept that discount instead of the Its All About The Bride one. Anyone else getting the run around to actually use one of these specials? I think my travel agent is not helping it. She was on the phone with the travel company and said to them, "No correct me if I am wrong, but my client thought you could get her a discount on the rooms since they are booking 15 - 20 rooms. You cannot do that, correct?" Seriously, WTF I think my 2 year old neice could negotiate better than her. Is anyone getting rates for their guests lower than the online published rates? Lastly, I am Very HAPPY to say I got my quote back and for the pink table runners it is only $5 per table! woo hoo I will try to post some pictures next week of that idea and my cake (3 tiers with pink roses and orange lillies). PS - that guy posting bad review on Trip Advisor is a creep. I think there is a awy you can report people like that. What a loser.

Azul Fives Brides

I am getting married at Azul Beach. There are not so many ppl getting married there b/c its so small - but thats what I wanted. I googled the hotel name and wedding so many times and it looks awesome. They do not negoitiate prices though, so make sure you haggle before signing the contract and lock into one of the specials. Weddings right now are free with 5 rooms. Good luck -
Hi J Hune! I am getting married at Azul Beach too! Welcome!

Hurricane is not bad but I left early yesterday anyways. My flight today would have gone. I LOVE LOVE LOVE those centerpieces. I cant wait to show them to Mark! So AZUL quoted you $85 to do this? I can't believe it. Thanks!! Good Luck Allisa - I am sure you'll have a great time - the wedding of your dreams.

Reception question: Wear the Dress?
amybermuda replied to ltl_leah's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
Oh Thanks Dodds - that seems like a great compromise! -
Hi Vicky. I am getting married at Azul Beach - part of Karisma. Right now we are not getting great deals & everything has a cost - but I have not heard a bad review yet! Its a smaller resort - only 98 rooms and they allow kids - the 2 main things I wanted. Good luck deciding. I recommend getting quotes from 3 resorts and picking the one who can give you the best deal. I really wish I had done that. Amy

Reception question: Wear the Dress?
amybermuda replied to ltl_leah's topic in At Home Reception (AHR)
I am not wearing mine. I am getting a white sundress. My AHR is going to be very very casual - hopefully with some volleyball, bochee ball, and other yard games My dress was under $200 and I actually might wear it again to a ball or something (when would I ever go to a ball though - haha) so I dont feel like I have to wear it for my stateside reception. Is anyone going to do the other stuff - like a dance and a cake? -
whoops - really said for the Stateside Reception of Mark and Amy
-
Oh yeah I refuse to rhyme too I sent Save the Dates out b/c I was afraid ppl would think they were not invited to anything if they did not get the Mexico invite. So we said: Save the Date for the Stateside Reception for Mark and Amy The couple is having a small wedding in mexico and hopes that you can join them upon their return to celebrate their marriage invitation to follow closer to date.

Sweet - thats great about the napkins and set up fees. I am still waiting on a quote for my pink table runners. Good thing I can at least bring them! I guess you could bring pre-made centerpieces too, right? Hurricane Bill is about to hit us!!!! Ahhh And I am supposed to leave Friday to go to MD to throw my BF a shower (were both engaged at the same time) -- I really hope I can still get off island.

We are not getting a videographer so I thought spending the $ on pictures would be my best bet. I still think Elizabeth medina is the best but she is another $2000 from Claudia and I like Claudia's work almost as much. My friend used Sol for her wedding in Riviera Maya in March and her pictures turned out really awesome. I was thinking about telling everyone at my wedding to get "family pictures" done - by group so its not just all bridal party pictures. I also want everyone to try and get lots of pictures taken - you know, posing and being friendly with Claudia. I hope that telling people this will mean loads of good pictures.

I would interview at least 3 travel agents if you don't have one already and make sure you get the best deal - have them all get quotes for you and explain how you can get the best deals - and work with the one who comes back with the best stuff. I really regret my decision of Travel Agent. She is nice, but a bit scatter-brained and a one woman shop. I would go with a larger company and I would have interviewed more. Also, before you sign the wedding contract, find out what deals they are going to give you. Once you sign, its game over for negotiations. Maybe this was just my experience with Karisma resorts, but that is what has happened. My save the dates I printed on Cardstock from Kinkos and mailed as a postcard. They were cute but not detailed. My invites were the Boarding passes and I have received more compliments than I thought I would. Everyone loved them.
