UPDATE - So I spoke with Jennifer from Sun N Sand - she said that companies like Orbitz and Expedia will overbook rooms and then bump you. She called mutlipel tour operators who will not bump and they were all sold out. Only option is to find these brides with weddings 2 days before and a day after mine and see if they have any extra rooms. I am going to post now on the Forum and maybe other bridal places. haha Otherwsie, overflow will be the AS. I was even considering moving the wedding to AS, but then I thought - no if people waited to book then thats that...

My stupid travel agent did not want to book a black of rooms. She said we could get better deals individually. Stupid. I saw a deal listed for 20% Azul Beach for my dates on the Travel Impressions website - she said thats only for new bookings. I was told if the prices go down, we can get a price match. Well - now we cant I guess? She is just a horrible group TA. So, Amy F helped me (thank you Amy!!!!!!) - other travel agents or online companies like Expedia have access to rooms still. Its just Karisma Reservations and my specific tour operator who have their rooms sold out. So people can still get rooms, just for more money. Also, this is good for everyone else here to know - room blocks must be used or released 90 days in advance before the event. So by the end of February, there should be more rooms released. Just horrible decision I made using my Travel Agent - that is what this all works out to be. I am about to call her and describe my "disappointment" in her services. I just have to get my bullet points ready so I can scare her into getting her act together.

We are doing the catamaran thru Paradise Catamarans too. They seem to be the best deal. They are in Puerto Adventuras which is 50 mins from the Azul Sensatori. They are picking us up in 2 vans, driving to the launch spot, a 4 hour cruise with snorkeling, open bar, sodas, and snacks for 33 people and it is approx $2,100. There have been only good reviews so far on them. I am also using Susan Vincil from CancunAndRivieraMaya.com to organize a Cancun clubbing trip (2 vans to Cancun with a midnight and 2 am return to hotel) for under $400 transport. I am using them to book an excursion to do zip lining, snorkeling in cenotes, lunch, and Tulum ruins as well. Again, they pick us up in 2 vans, take up zip lining and snorkeling, lunch, then the ruins, then back to the hotel. That is $93 per person plus the vans at $200 ish. From her: Extreme Adventure (Cancun and Riviera Maya - Selvatica Canopy Extreme Adventure Tour), or the Cenote, Zip line, Ruins tour (Cenote Adventure & Ruins Private Tour). The Zipline Extreme is $90 per person, plus the cost of transportation ($178 total for 2 vans), and the Cenote/Zip line/Ruins tour is $93 per person, plus the cost of transportation. FI's parents are paying for the catamaran and FI and I are paying for the other 2. We were not going to, but then we changed to a regular room instead of the suite and the free wedding package - so we are using that money to pay for the excursions. I think it will be easier that way than collecting money as you have to pay a % now on a CC and then the rest in cash when you get there. I would collect the cash now if we were doing it that way to avoid the headaches (and surprises) later. I also looked at gettign Mayan massages in Puerto Morelos but I dont think we'll have time. I found a cool little place in Trip Advisor - things to do in Puerto Morelos

Nope - he worked his magic and got through and then the flight was cancelled b/c of the 50 mph winds we are expecting here I am sooooooo sad. Haven't seen him since Jan 4th. BUMMER But maybe if he comes next weekend we will have nice weather and we can have the ceremony outside where I wanted to. Now I have to host my superbowl party alone. OK enough saddness for me!!! Sammy - there was a girl in this thread who did the non private reception. She said that they gave her the option of buying 3 bottles of wine and having a private a dinner. It was a small group. How many people are you expecting?
-
Hi Sammy welcome! If you are going to be at the resort 3 days before your wedding, I am sure you can decide on a very secluded party for your wedding guests. The private receptions are more but every bride I have heard of going down there without a private function in mind, gets somtheing better from the hotel staff - be it a private area for longer or private all toegther just for purchasing a few bottles of wine.... If you are laid back about it and have a small group, I am sure the hotel stafff will go out of their way to accomodate you for no or little addtl charge.

Amy - lets see the shoes - do you have a picture?!? Yeah - just popped out at lunch and took those pictures. I wanted to make sure the park looked nice. There was someone there mowing the grass which was good to know the nice wont be there tomorrow. Lolo, are you having a DJ? They probably know what songs to pick for things like the cake cutting too if you don't want to specify.

So - no one knows this except for you all and FI and I but I am dying - I am getting married tomorrow!!!!!! Here are the 2 locations - the Registry General is out b/c they close at 12pm and Mark gets in at 11:30am, so it doesn't work out. Tomorrow is going to be just about us. We have our neighbors who have been married 33 years as our witnesses, and the Pastor. I have always loved this Park in Bermuda, it was across the street from the first house mark and I first lived in. I am super excited! Location #1 below is in an inlet in case its too windy for up by location #2.

The thing about dress shopping is that the ladies helping you will pick things more than your mom picking them. Typically you try on 4 - 5 dresses and it might not be a bad thing that on your first trip you try on dresses that you think you wont like. I bought my dress online but my best friend and I went shopping with her mom for her wedding and we all decided the crinkley fabric was ugly - but then the lady at one store made her try on a crinklely fabric dress and it was amazing and thats the one she bought! If you think your mom will get on your nerves, maybe only take her to one store with you !

I downloaded one recently in the MUSIC section somewhere on here. They had "move bitch get out the way" as the song for the bouquet toss - hahahha I was dying at that! I dont have my USB key otherwise, I'd post it here for you guys. Welcome Welcome Jaime! Glad you are getting your date!! Just start collecting information and seeing what you like best. I would also recommend interviewing 3 Travel Agents before picking one (unless you already have a friend or family member or someone else you trust helping you). Make them get you the best deals out there! My TA was at a bridal show with Karisma last week and she said they are really struggling with all the back lash from the swine flu. That should help you with prices. They arent so into negotiating so anything you do on the front end is helpful (and is probably the only thing they'll negotiate before they lock ya in!

Welcome back Nicole! Hope you came back relaxed and tanned and in need of a liver detox Wow - thats crazy. I almost got married in Bahamas before we decided Mexico was a better choice and there were so many pictures I saw (professional ones even) with people standing all around the wedding and listening in. I dont get those people. Like, why would you be so nosey that you want to see that?!

Katie, What are these gift cards?!? Wow. I am not sure how I'd take that, but definitely not appreciating her BF choosing DR which is like a hop from Cancun instead! You only want people at your wedding that really really WANT to be there and celebrate with you and FI - so if they'd rather be somewhere else - thats better for you for them not to be there. Thats why we all chose destination weddings anyway, right?!?! Only the people we really wanted to share our wedding with will be there.
