  1. I did not know this, but THANK YOU for the tip!! I'll be sure to mention it to him. Thanks for the great advice. One less thing to worry about
  2. That is so great your dad is so concerned of his appearance for your big day. My dad told me whatever you need me to wear I'll do it. I could have been really mean. I just recommend that he blends in the the other GM's to a certain extent. Wouldn't want to draw the attention to him. It's your bid day!!!
  3. Can anyone tell me the best place to shop for linen attire. The groom will be wearing all white. I would like the groomsmen to wear a coral color linnen top with kacki colored linen pants. I have a feeling the groom will be easy, but i'm not sure about the coral colored linen tops.
  4. Great tips! I've always used baby powder in the summer. But the last thing I want on my wedding night is to by a powdery mess!
  5. Thanks for the information. I think the actual game plan would be is to have him and his wife as our guest. Basically we would pay for a three night stay for them, in exchange for our wedding package. He would work one day and enjoy the rest in paradise
  6. This has actually been the hot topic for me and my FI. It has lead to several heated discussions, but in the end all we want is simplicity. He is all for doing the "legal" part here in the States. Obviously this would mean we wouldn't say a word to anyone attending. My heart drops knowing that we are beginning our marriage with a big secret to both of our families. However reading a previous post, it still the spiritual and vow commital that you still get to do. I guess I would be EXTREMELY nervous of someone finding out while they were down there. But if the resort can pull it off and make it look real then, I guess I'll consider it :| This is more difficult then picking a resort....
  7. Most of the wedding packages include hair and makeup. Are these people any good, or should I be concerned about that. I assumed they were professionals and do this all the time.
  8. In resarching wedding packages at resorts, I noticed that a lot of packages only include a few doezen photos of your day. Pictures are probably just as important to me as the ceremony itself. Does anyone know if you can purchase larger packages, or even a private photographer down there. My family has even discussed paying for our family photographer to join us at the wedding. Please let me know what you have done or what you are doing to for the picture situation
  9. WOW, this post if very helpful thank you all. Dreams is one of the options I am looking at for our DW. The pictures of the beach set up are beautiful and the pricing has also been helpful. I noticed a few of you had questions on the pricing. The biggest tip I can give from others is to have keep ALL documentation on pricing. Any final agreements, invoices etc. If you have something in black and white it is easier to stand firm on the final invoice. I've read that a lot of invoices will hike up the price. Having this information will allow you to argue/stand firm with them.
  10. Hi Everyone! My fiance' and I have decided to do a destination wedding between the months of Jan-March in the Domincan Republic. We are looking for an all inclusive resorts that will meet our wedding needs. Some of the places we are looking at are, Paradisus Punta Cana, Excellence Punta Cana, & Dreams. If anybody has any tips on DW planning and information on these resorts I would GLADLY take them. Our biggest questions are obvious what wedding packages do they have and how much? What is the food like? What sort of activities do they have? and of course the level of service? Look forward to using this forum in planning our wedding!!! Holly
