  1. Welcome to the forum!
  2. Definitely Guanacaste. A lot of beaches and hotels along the coastline. I'd suggest to stay near Tamarindo Bay. I found that the area had better beaches than other spots plus it offers surfing( probably nothing special for Californians though... ) It is not the quietest area, but there are some resorts that are on the outskirts and they are more secluded.
  3. I think any agencies now have a wedding department and can offer extra assistance with weddings. A year ago I had Flight Centre in Toronto call me as they wanted to work together. They mentioned they have specialized wedding department.
  4. You need a large resort, any Palace resorts should do it as they tend to be large. Look into big names such as Iberostar, etc. In theory though, most resorts are large enough. And November is not a busy month so you'll have much more choice in terms of the rooms and everything. Happy planning!
  5. Evening is the best. It's going to be HOT during the day and if you can get married 2-3 hours before sunset, you and your guests will really appreciate it and be able to enjoy it more.
  6. I doubt very much she would pay. As I was told, after transportation, assistant fees and all other expenses, they are left with about half of the amount(just like any other vendor out there). So I can't see her spending that $40 she has left on the hotel room for the night. cheers
  7. Waiting for a week or two for a reply is normal. Shouldn't be,but I hear that from my clients all the time.
  8. You should get in touch with the planner at the resort. They'll be able to help you with everything in regards to your wedding. Planning a wedding for 4 people is WAY easier than 40 people+
  9. Mexico or Try Dominican. Punta Cana tends to be a bit more expensive, but Puerto Plate is always less expensive. You may also consider doing your wedding in an off season. During the peak season the sam resort may cost up to 1500 where it could be as cheap as 800-900 during off season months. Good luck!
  10. There's a ton of info in the Cuba forum with 100s of tips and info. Try going back a few pages to read the archives. You have an excellent resort and person who'll be planning your wedding in Cuba can help you with everything. cheers.
  11. The paperwork is not too complicated, especially if you have a planner who've dealt with Cuban weddings. They can really help you with a lot of stuff and make the whole process much easier. Symbolic ceremonies are very popular though, especially with Cuba. If you are on a budget and don't want to hire an outside help or don't have time to do all the paperwork then symbolic ceremony is the answer. Both ceremonies are absolutely the same and unless you tell you guests, they'd never know. cheers.
  12. Happy planning!! Great location!

  14. I sent you a PM on a photographer contacts I know might be there until May.
  15. What an amazing place to get married! I was there 2 years ago and it was a place to be. Plus if you get some quiet time, you can always get a ferry to Koh Tao for some laid back diving and sun bathing.
