  1. OK I was starting to stress because everyone seemes so much better organized than I am, but it's nice to see there are some other brides that still have lots of wedding stuff to do!!! Just over 5 months to go and I have a lot ahead of me - the only things I have done are book the location and order my dress. Yikes - why did I think I had done more than that? Maybe because it took like 4 months just to book the location? I feel like I've done a lot more - I think I'm starting to get stressed again... But thanks for the helpful ideas on what to do next - it helps to have everything in one place!
  2. Thanks so much for the review! Great point about the shade issue at the beach gazebo, my ceremony is booked for 4PM, so maybe moving the arch is a solution. Congratulations!!! I hope I can have your laid back mentality when my wedding arrives
  3. I think we can all relate to your problems, I know I can for sure!!!! I went through the same issues, my FI didn't want to ask people to spend too much and I had a really hard time reconciling that with that fact that I wanted our wedding to be somewhere nice. It took me months to find somewhere I felt was a reasonable price ($1500 - $1800 per person, depending on the city they are departing from) and that people would feel it was money well spent on (i.e. a nice place they would take a vacation to, not just a place they got stuck at because of our wedding!) I *hope* I have found this in ROR, I will only know for sure in November! After a while I think you have to just make a choice, there are good and bad reviews of every resort - tripadvisor.com was becoming the death of me! Just go with your gut and what you want, because it is so true what others have said - in the end the people who want to come will be there regardless of whether it's an extra $100 or something. Once the destination and date are booked, things will go much more smoothly - I found that potion of the process to take a few stressful months, but now I'm not ready to pull out my hair anymore And just one more thing about the travel agent - that totally is their job to help you, so don't stress at all about that! I am kicking myself for not booking through the travel agent that I found to be so helpful, but her price was a little more. Now we had to change our departure date and everyone has to pay $50 more, so in the end we are paying the same price we were quoted from the "good" TA and I so wish we had booked with her in the first place! It is a nightmare trying to get information from the one we went with, so for your own sanity if you don't like the one you have been using, do yourself a huge favour and switch. It is their job to help you, and it takes a lot of back and forth to get everything booked! Good luck with your planning!!!
  4. I am also having the private beach reception with the semi-private dinner in a restaurant beforehand. I tried to get the private poolside reception but it was already booked for that night. We are a smaller group (20 people), and I'm wondering if anyone has pictures of the beach set up for the reception but who wasn't having dinner there? We won't be eating, so I can't picture what it will look like - will I really need any tables set up if there's no food being served? Also, I've heard mixed reviews on the bonfire - for anyone who had one, was it worth it? Would you do it again? If anyone can help me out with picturing how all this will be, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks Here is the info for a travel agent I dealt with when getting pricing, I found she was amazing and I would have booked with her except I got a bit better price from another agent in Ontario and we went with her instead. I am kicking myself for that now because I am so frustrated with the one we booked with, but what's done is done Nadia Conca House of Travel Westmount 5256 Queen Mary Montreal, Que H3W 1X5 514-487-3733 ext 221 1-877-336-3733 [email protected] Hope this helps you!
  6. Another Maggie bride here! I just ordered Jayla in diamond white last week
  7. I'm so close to booking ROR for November 11th also! I've left things really late, but am hoping to finalize this week. I tried asking about the specific locations for the ceremony, dinner and reception, because everything I've read here made me nervous my choices won't be available because I'm booking so late. Have you already booked your locations for the wedding? I'm just a bit nervous about making the final booking and not knowing if my choices will be available, for budget reasons I want to have the semi-private dinner at Mammee Bay and a private reception afterwards at either the pool or beach.
  8. Congratulations and welcome! I just joined recently myself and have already found this forum to be super helpful.
  9. Thanks so much for these pictures! I was wondering what the poolside reception setup looked like, so this is awesome. Do you have to get the buffet menu for the $55 per person price?
  10. I'm also hoping to book ROR for November 2009, I was quoted a group rate of $1500 taxes in from Toronto and $1800 taxes in out of Montreal. I was also hoping to keep the cost as close to $1500 for our guests but this was the best price I could get, and I think it is pretty good for what you are getting as I really needed a place with a free wedding package to keep costs down. If anyone knows of another place that is comparable to ROR in terms of quality, offers a free wedding package and would be less than the quote I got above, please let me know!!!
  11. What amazing pictures - thanks for sharing! I love the dancing one and the one with everyone jumping in the air Your dress is gorgeous and you are positively glowing. Congratulations!!!
  12. Hi, I am hoping to book our wedding at ROR for November 2009 within the next few days (I know I'm cutting it close!), I was quoted a price of $1500 taxes in for a group rate out of Toronto and $1800 taxes in out of Montreal, as this is where most of our guests will be coming from. I agree that there aren't that many details available on the ROR website, but I have been emailing the wedding coordinator with specific questions and they have pretty good about replying within a day or so. This forum has been really helpful in answering some of the questions I had, and some I definitely hadn't even thought of! Chances are if you have a question, someone has else has the same one. I took a couple of hours to read all of the ROR threads on here and it really helped me regain my sanity when I was feeling overwhelmed by all the choices
  13. Just wanted to post a short message to say hi to everyone! My name is Kristie, my fiance is Shaun, and we are tentatively scheduled to get married in November 2009. We haven't booked anything yet, but right now I am leaning towards the Riu in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It's great to meet everyone, if anyone has some helpful hints to share I'd love to hear them!
