    Hi!!

Hi Kateddy - Welcome to the forum! I am also a 2012 bride! PV is very nice, I'm sure you'll find a great resort Dreams is a great one to look into. Happy planning!
  3. I don't think you are being self-centered or unreasonable. I would ask him to wait till after the wedding too. I mean really, we take all this time to plan this wedding and even plan things like the bonfire and rehearsal so everyone can join in on the celebration and have it be a good time. I think its the principal of the situation and the fact is that they are there for your wedding. Yes they did spend money to be there but it was their choice. If they want to be there and vacation too it is there choice but they are ultimately there for your wedding. We all can give our opinion but it's easy for us to comment because most of us are not in your situation. I will say that if it were me, yes, of course it would bother me - would it ruin my wedding, no, not really but I would think it would be shady. I don't think you will let this take over your day and ruin your wedding events but I totally understand. In the end, just do what you want to do and go with how you feel. It doesn't matter what we say because we won't be there on your day. Good luck and I hope all goes well on your big day! I'm sure it's going to be a blast regardless of what happens
  4. Hi Lucile - Don't stress. All that matters is that you and your fiance are there and it's a plus that your parents are there to support you guys. If no one else shows, well that is their loss. You have done your part in trying to accomodate them and providing them with travel prices. It's up to them to book their trip. If it were me, I would send out an email or something telling them that you need to have a final head count of those that will be attending. With your wedding being pretty close, I wouldn't take a "Yes, we're going" to be sufficient anymore. I would ask that they give you their flight information so you know when to expect everyone OR you could tell them that you need them to have their travel accomodations booked by September 1st or something so you can give your coordinator a final head count. Like the other ladies said, I'm sure everyone is just waiting till the last minute to book. Regardless of what happens with your guests, you are going to have a fabulous wedding!
  5. Very captivating! I love the color and the street shots.

I want to make sure everything is in place with what I had with my previous WC Rebekah. Any advise? Hi Nadenne - My coordinator is Rebekah also. As far as I know, she told me that she was still going to be my coordinator. I was also wondering if I was going to get a new coordinator so I called her to see what the deal was and she assured me that she was still going with the company. I last spoke to her about 3 weeks ago or so. I also asked her what would happen if she left the company and she said that I would be notified and that I would be assigned a new coordinator. If you aren't sure you might call her at the 800 number. It'll be easier than sending her an email. Hope this helps! -Norma
  7. Hi Pat291 - I think it just depends on everyone's situation. My fiance and I will be engaged for 3 years come July 4th and by the time we get married in 2012, we will have been engaged for almost 5 -- AND we've been together for 9 years! So, I know what you mean when people always ask, "when are you getting married?" or "When is the wedding date?" I would just tell them, oh it'll happen when it's supposed to happen or I'd also respond with, what's the rush? Don't get discouraged, it'll happen when it's supposed to happen and know that you aren't alone
  8. Congratulations! Dreams PV is a great location!
  9. I love your kite and that both your names are Chris -- So cute! Your center pieces look cool. I'm sure it's going to look great when it's dark outside and they are lit up.
  10. Your pictures are awesome! I love that purple/plum color your BM's are wearing. Really nice!

If you haven't heard from your WC, try to contact them by phone or send them an email about how upset you are, chances are you will hear from someone soon. That's what I did and I haven't had a problem since. My new WC usually gets back to me within the same day or the next day. Anyway, I will try to tell everyone a little bit about how my wedding planning is going because I know I had to search these forums high and low to get info on Gran Caribe brides. The wedding planning begins by setting a date and time and giving them a $200 deposit. At that time you will also sign a wedding contract. We chose the Villas Terrace for the reception and the Gazebo for the ceremony. Also, we are having a "symbolic" ceremony so that we don't have to jump through the hoops of getting married in Mexico, and officially getting married here the week before. So here's some helpful hints: Go to the real website and "book your wedding." Make up fake names and dates so that you can get to the end to see all of the options (you'll see what I mean once you do it). Your WC will eventually send you all of this stuff, but this is the easiest way to see most of their options (flowers, cakes, prices etc..) before committing to this resort. If anyone's interested in having a signature cocktail during their cocktail hour, it is an extra $5 per person (I'm having blue lagoons!) Table linens can be rented in pretty much any color available (that was another question I had). Table linens are $12 each to rent and napkins are $1 each Ok so I'm pretty much going to walk you through my wedding and tell you how much it is going to cost so you brides thinking about the Gran can get an idea. First of all, my guests are quoted at $355 per person (based on double occupancy) for 4 days... pretty dang good for all inclusive. We're having the Luxury Wedding. Ceremony is at 4 with a guitarist and a few floral decorations (standard ceremony decorations are white tulle at the entrance, white chair covers and red carpet). Also we are purchasing 3 bridesmaid bouquets, bridal bouquet, and 3 boutonnières. We have also upgraded our photo package which will be about an additional cost of around $1250. (we're using the hotel b/c outside vendor fees are $350, plus the cost of the vender, of course) From 5-6 is cocktail hour w/ signature cocktails and a live mexican trio. From 6-10 is the ceremony with a DJ. There will also be 5 centerpieces. The total cost of the wedding will be about $8200 for 40 guests. If you're wondering how the luxury wedding went from $3800 to $8200 I will try to add up the additional costs. $400 for a judge (or minister or priest, this is not included in the package) $1250 for photography, $850 for DJ, $400 for reception extra hour (wedding package comes with only 3 hours) $200 for signature cocktails, $250 for couture cake, $150 to feed extra guests, $500 for bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, table linens, and ceremony decorations. And also a $400 surcharge for all weddings Thur-Sun after 4pm. I hope this post wasn't too long and that it helps future Gran brides. Feel free to ask me any questions. Although I'm a 2012 bride, this thread is very helpful! Thanks for posting Abbypoo - Did you go through a TA to get the group rate or how did you go about it? I'm curious to know if the $355 your quests were quoted is only for the hotel or does that also include flights? If it doesn't include flights, how are you figuring out that piece? Of course, 2012 rates haven't even come out yet, but it would be great to know how you guys are doing it so I know what to look for when it is time for us to start booking!
  12. Hi Bryjenbry - You'll find a lot of great information on here. I'm sure you'll find your sense of direction once you navigate the forum a little more. I'd say do a little research on locations and see which best fits what you envision. I hope all goes well and have fun planning!
  13. Hi Maria - It's nice to meet you, too. San Juan sounds like a great location! Happy Planning
  14. Hi Sam - You are a fellow 2012 bride! It seems kinda far away, huh? You'll find great information on the site and everyone is so helpful. Have fun planning and welcome to the site
