  1. Hi - Sorry this is late but it looks like you have TONS of time before you have to decide on your wedding. We got married at the rockhouse - wei + rey - our wedding photos are here: The Rockhouse in Negril, Jamaica Wedding | Wei and Rey | New York City Wedding Photography - Yun Gen Yang We decided rather last minute whether or not we wanted to have it by the pool or restaurant. Ultimately with 65 people we decided the pool would be better, bc it's outdoors and the dance area is all in one place. If you prefer a more intimate feeling, the restaurant is nice too. Happy to answer any questions about this. I've been meaning to post all of my hard work/findings related to our wedding, but just haven't had a chance!
  2. Hi - I talked to Norma Villiers at lee's tours. She seems very organized, helpful and her prices are pretty competitive. The transportation costs seem a little extreme to be honest. Here is the info: Welcome to Lees Taxi and Tours Jamaica by Lees Elite Travel & Tours Ltd., Taxi and Tours in Jamaica, Jamaica Taxi and Tours - www.leestaxiandtoursjamaica.com - [email protected] Good luck! A
  3. Hi - So i went for my prewedding plannign trip and looke dinto a number of different locations for the welcome BBQ option. I can't remember all of the places I went to, but from what I remember: a) Kuyaba - This is a cute place with some nice island touches. The dinner would be on the deck and they leave the other side of the deck open for the restaurant. This would be for a more "formal" dinner in my opinion since it wouldn't be directly on the beach. The food is supposed to be fantastic though. Norma's - This is also a more formal environment. I really enjoyed my conversation with Greg, the manager there, and he seemed very eager to please. When I had dinner there during my first visit in Negril, I wasn't exaclty blown away though. Also, I have not heard back from them since my in person visit, but they do have a lovely upstairs deck that would be great for a nicer welcome dinner. They can also arrange something in the beach area, but the stretch of beach is not very big - which can be a concern since all of 7 mile beach is public. c) Irie on the Beach - I'm not sure if this is the one associated with Rondel Village - in fact I actually went here: Jamaica Connection - The BEST of Negril since 1984 - where there wasn't anyone I could talk to since the planner wasn't on site. The beach is lovely though, and the space pretty nice. not sure about anything else, since I wasn't able to get further info d) Sea Wind Resort - I talked to Wendy, who immediately emailed us back with a number of different options and costs. The costs were *significantly* higher than what was quoted above, so I'm hoping we can work something out with them. But the property is very cute - great beach, some pretty nice landscaping, not overly stylized, and Wendy seemed really great! Hope this helps. our wedding is in 2 months at the rockhouse and we have yet to send out invites. I just picked my dress, so we're really trying to cram all of our final decision making process in at the end. That's the point of a destination wedding though, no?
  4. This is awesome information. We're getting married at the Rockhouse and wanted to do something for our guests the friday before the wedding, and preferably on the beach, so this is exactly what we are looking for. thank you so much for sharing! Our pre-wedding trip is going to be labor day weekend, so if we find anything else, I'll be sure to share!
  5. Hi LisaAnn, We probably won't do our visit before the wedding Nov 12th weekend, until September. I'm assuming that will give Inise enough time for us to put together details. To be honest, I haven't been doing very much planning, but like you, music is very important to us. A number of our friends can DJ the event, but like our photographer friends, we would prefer for them to be able to enjoy the event and hire both a DJ and steel drum band. Was the rockhouse not able to help with that? I'll let you know if i find anything out. Cheers. A
  6. Just an FYI - I don't think you need to book 50 rooms. There are 34, and it's a minimum of 28 rooms that need to be booked in order to have your wedding there.

Lisa Hi Lisa - I emailed Tropical tours re: transportation and group tours and they sent me a back an entire sheet with options: [email protected] I went to the black river pontoon boat tour and that was nice and relaxing. I've also heard great things about Dunn's Falls, so I may look into organizing a day trip there. I've also heard that some people charter boat/catamaran for a sail - which I have yet to get more information on. Have a great trip there next week and would love to hear more about your planning! Cheers,A
  8. Hi, I am a rockhouse bride weekend of Nov 12 - 15 2009. We visited the rockhouse for my 30th birthday and decided that it would be the perfect vibe for a carefree, tropical, but modern wedding. I'm just now in the process of finalizing my contract, but it looks like someone has already cut and pasted the info from there. Would love to get in touch with any other rockhouse brides to hear more about their planning issues - especially since other than having selected the location - i haven't done much else Also, happy to help answer any questions i can along the way. Cheers, Angela
  9. Hi, I'm getting married at the Rockhouse Nov 12 - 15 2009. I confirmed my dates with Inise and from what I understand there are no dates left in 2009. They don't host anything during Dec - April high season and about a 1.5 mos ago I moved my date from Oct to Nov due to some concerns about hurricane season. It is difficult to get a response from Inise, but keep trying and hopefully you'll have luck. Cheers, Angela
