We've seen pictures on Tripadvisor of pretty blue water, but also read in many reviews that the water is dirty/cloudy/dark due to the river(s) dumping in to the ocean near the resort. That is basically our last sticking point on making a decision. Thanks! I've read those reviews as well, it seems it's cloudy at the point where the river enters the ocean, but if you walk south on the beach you'll have clearer water. I'm hoping it's true. The water looks pretty in some of the user-posted photos on tripadvisor.

Any pricing information will be extremely helpful! Thanks!! Ana Cheaptickets.com was significantly cheaper than expedia when we checked/booked. It doesn't include ground transfers, but you can book that seperately and still have a good amount of savings... just a thought

I've been away for a month and figured I'd get back to at least one email from Luis or HTR....but nothing..
  4. Laura, your pics are awesome. You are so beautiful and everything looked perfect!
  5. Hi ladies, So glad to find this thread. FI and I found the Tres Rios just today and contacted the wedding dept. Waiting to hear back. But I noticed someone here has the date we wanted (May 29, 2010). Do you know if they do more than one wedding in a day? Ours is just a ceremony - cosmic followed by civil - for two. We're eloping! Our Plan: We will do the mesoamerican cleansing ritual before-hand (seems so cool) to 'prepare' us for marriage, and after the ceremony we're doing the private dinner over the water with the saxophonist (or guitarist if they have one available). We're staying 9 nights. If they can't do more than one wedding in a day, I'm up a creek. Hopefully I'll hear back with good news soon.
  6. Mega Change In Plans!!! We're ELOPING!!!! I'm so happy I don't even know how to express it. It's like one humongous EXHALE!!!! I think it was this thread, or a similar one, where I said I wish I could elope but it wasn't a possibility for me.....well thank goodness FIs family isn't up for traveling!!! My family is going to be very upset with me, since I'm the first "child" to marry on both my mom's and dad's side......but I'll just deal with it. I never thought FI would be okay with this, but now I just get to relax and plan a day special for just us two. I'm so relieved and excited ::running back to top of the thread to read everyone else's experiences::
  7. I agree with the others, don't tie it too tight! Be comfy! We don't want you passing out at the I Do part....
  8. i just love this thread! everyone has such gorgeous rings!! (and pretty hands too )
  9. My FI and I are going to buy one at Michaels and decorate it ourselves. I plan on packing it in my luggage, it's not that large at all and my suitcase is mammoth.
  10. Get what YOU want and will love and be happy wearing every day. I totally understand what you mean, I have tiny hands and wrists so any type of bling looks super flashy on me too.
  11. That's gorgeous!!! Sorry I don't know the designer, but I'm sure one of these fabulous brides here will. I recently posted a similar thread and the girls new the dresses/designers/dress name and websites! Good Luck!
  12. Ummm can I pretend we're cousins and come get some goodies!? Seriously, that's an awesome surprise! I can't wait to see the pics!
  13. Oh ladies I'm so sorry you're going through this. I went through something similar on a different forum and I know how frustrating it can be. It's hard but try not to let this encounter ruin your trust of other ladies on the forum. Good luck to you all with getting your money back (or at least the goods you paid for)
  14. Hi ladies! Glad I found this thread! Just finished two books by Martha Southgate that were really great (not chick-lit) Third Girl from the left The Fall of Rome The fall of rome was fabulous! the other was a great read, very racially charged though. Super well written. Also just finished a fun read called The Sweet Potato Queens First Big Ass Novel. It's definitely chick lit and had me laughing out loud.
  15. Since I doubt we'll have a full reception, (just dinner and later dancing at the disco) I am hoping to find a great catamaran / snorkel trip to offer guests.

  17. Very cute! Perfect for a ttd shoot. Your real dress is GORGEOUS! by the way. I kinda dig the ivory too.
  18. Where will you be getting married? The dinner cruises in the caribbean are nice. A nice lobster dinner for not much money... OR maybe set up a great private dinner at your resort and hire fire dancers, or salsa dancers to teach your group how do dance... OR maybe if your group is adventurous do a snorkel cruise excursion that serves a meal on the catamaran in lieu of a sit-down dinner?

I can't wait to see how it turns out! $167 is sweet! Would you mind posting the actual jim dress for us to drool over while we wait for your China dress to arrive?
