Have the WC email you an updated map because the changes to the restaurants are not shown on the one I have. We decided to go with the gazebo b/c we did not want onlookers during a beach ceremony. The gazebo turned out to be the right choice for us. I have read another review here where they made it clear to the WC that they wanted onlookers kept at a distance and they were happy w/ the job the WC did in keeping them away. If you've always wanted a beach ceremony, I say go for it...I've read a ton of reviews that said the reviewer did not notice anyone other than the officiant and their spouse during the whole ceremony Thanks for the compliments on the pictures. We're very happy we had other pics to supplement the resort photographer's

That was a great suprise and as small as our group was there was hardly any left! If I could do it over again, I would go w/ the vanilla...although I have read reviews that said the cheesecake was great too

My wedding was on 7/16 and it turned out wonderfully after all the stress and uncertainty of trying to get things done and questions answered entirely by email. Wanted to pass on a couple things: 1.) Bring BUG Spray - A couple of my friends left w/ big insect bites to remember the trip by. We were told by an employee that their rainy season was perfect breeding weather for mosquitos. There are a lot of ponds by the buffets and lobbies we could have especially used spray in those 2 places. Mosquitos were pretty bad at our aquabar reception also. 2.) Bring all the emails that confirm your wedding details. They tried to switch prices on us but it helped to have in writing what was previously agreed upon. This includes the resort photographers. They must have just recently updated their prices but I was able to get the price initally relayed to me by the WC b/c I had it in writing. 3.) I made the mistake of becoming one big ball of worry the last 2 weeks before my wedding. Please do not make that same mistake. Just make sure you have the date and time you want and that they confirmed receiving your wedding details sheet. Everything else will be covered by a hour long meeting w/ the WC when you get there. Karla was great and tried really hard to meet all expectations. I saw Reyna once while there and was not her biggest fan since she stopped emailing replies the last couple months without any explanation and Karla started answering emails a month before my date. In the end, it was what we had pictured our ceremony being. Our dinner reception was at the steakhouse in its new air conditioned location and everyone loved the food and a break from the heat of picture taking on the beach. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and some are even planning their own trips back. My photographers posted some pics on their blog: (scroll down to their 7/13 entry) Rich & Anne Lavigne Photography Blog NJ/NYC/PA Wedding & Portrait Photographers Good Luck w/ planning and feel free to ask any questions. Best Wishes!

BTW- we added the extra flowers to the arch and my step mom and aunt added the extra white toile (sp?) to fill it in. The arch at the Lindo is awesome and has cut outs of starfish, etc. but you can't use it at the del Mar. Awesome photos AK! The wedding ceremony looked picture perfect w/ the the bright blue sky and the sandy beach. Adding the extra fabric is a great tip.

The del Mar re-opened 2 days prior to the wedding but was pretty empty so the ceremony ended up being really private. Reyna was great (although they picked me up 25 minutes late and the guests and guys had to wait in the sun!). It all worked out really well! No signs of swine flu, the resort is awesome and all of the guests had a blast. We enjoyed working with Sascha Gluck and look forward to seeing our pics soon! Thanks for your support and help along the way girls! congrats! glad to hear that a good time was had by all. looking fwd to your pics!

Hi! I just wanted to share that my last wedding details email from June 7th has been answered. YAY! What i esp wanted to pass along from the email is this: "We did received all the information that you send to us, and everything is going to be like you are requesting to be …One day after you are arriving or the day you arrive, we will send you a letter to set up an appointment to meet with you and your fiance (“Bride to Be”) and we can just give the last touch ups to your wedding." This little bit about what happens when you get there completely put me at ease so hopefully it does the same for anyone else still waiting to hear from them...the other thing was that the email was not signed off by reyna but instead "Karla Tejeda, Wedding Coordinator,Paraiso del Mar & Beach" maybe they finally thought to hire Reyna some help?? In either case, I hope this helps...

my date's coming up quickly w/ no word from reyna on our last details so all that can be done is to sit and wait. in the meantime, ladies i've been wondering....did you research your resort options before deciding on iberostar mexico? i didn't research at all when i chose them...i just knew they were our most cost-effective (translation: cheapest) alternative at the time. everything seems to turn out well once you arrive and sit w/ reyna face to face but i've been wondering if all resorts have this time lag in communication. after having to go through the roller coaster of events in mexico the last few months then topping it off w/ a non-responsive wedding coordinator, would the just-married ladies choose this resort again? are brides to be who aren't hearing back from reyna deciding to take their business elsewhere? I feel that maybe that's what i should have done when it took over a month and many faxes of id and credit card info to set the date w/ gabriella. maybe i'll change my tune once i return from mexico but i've been wondering if the whole experience could have been different depending on the resort? sorry for being a downer...i'm just venting and also curious about the what ifs....

We vacationed there last year the exact week of our wedding and it was hot!! Nothing to be worried about but the fans are definately a nice gesture for your guests. We have 90 people booked and ready to go. My only concern is that I haven't heard from Reyna in about 2 weeks, so I'm starting to get a little nervous about that. It usually takes her 24-48 hrs but since the swine and them temporarily closing the Del Mar I feel like its not the same. Soooo hopefully I hear from her ASAP!!! Good luck! If its any consolation, we're in the same boat SJR...I'm getting married on july 13th at the del mar and I havent heard from Reyna in over 2 weeks. I'm still trying to confirm the wedding details....however it seems from past reviews that everything gets finalized when you actually sit down w/ the Reyna when you get there...

My Ta just recieved confirmation from Reyna (herself) saying that the resort is fine no worries of swine flu, and no cases reported in cancun/riviera maya area or ANY IN THE STATE OF QUINTANA ROO FOR THAT MATTER. And that the construction going on near the grand (somewhere in the forest) is so far off you cannot see or hear it from the Grand so no worries if you are staying at the grand and may of heard something like I did. All in all, if we do get on a plane, fly to mexi, and get stuck there cuz they closed the borders (my friends and us) we'll be opening "Double D's" (Margariti Hut) so spread the good word to all of ya friends to stop on by and see us we'll need all the business we can get! thanks so much for sharing that bit of info about what Reyna reported. Very comforting. My wedding is not until July but the media reports, concerned family and guests suggesting a change of destination had just started to get to me...I shall be taking it with a lime, salt and tequila myself LOL thank you so much!

We're getting married on a Monday...at first we had asked for a couple specific dates (Thursday & Fridays for guests wanting to do a long weekend only) only to find out they were taken each time. When we just finally asked for dates available the dates offered were all so random but one happened to be our anniversary. So our wedding date will be our 4 year dating anniversary making it one less date to remember considering the fact that we'll be married on paper before the actual mx ceremony
