I am having my flowers done by Plumeria's Wedding Flower Boutique. I will be bringing them on the plane with me. The WC is wonderful! Obviously, we can only do so much as the wedding is 9 months away, but she has been great in responding to me quickly and providing thorough answers.

This is in no way that important even though I was excited to get my next "rank" LOL Any way my rank was "Member" and I think after I hit 5,000 points my rank went back down to "Noob" Is this supposed to happen??

HUUUUUGE etiquette question please HELP!!!
amberlynne87 replied to amenellie's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
First I want to say that this is just my opinion please don't take any offense in anything I say =) If someone I knew was having a wedding, but didn't invite me to the actual wedding and invited me to their reception, bridal shower, or other bridal functions, I would honestly be a little offended. I have invited all of my relatives and friends who were apart of my life. I even invited people that I am not that close to anymore simply because I feel it is the right thing to do. Of course not everyone is going to attend the wedding because it is a destination wedding, but they at least deserve the courtesy of receiving an invitation. I will be having an AHR when return from our wedding and honeymoon that everyone who attended and didn't attend our wedding is invited to. Those people may not even show up to that, but it's the thought and the gesture that counts. If I didn't invite certain relatives and friends to my wedding and only invited them to my reception or other functions, I would in no way expect them to come or even respond to the invite. Don't they deserve the right to have the option to come to my wedding? I completely understand if you only want immediate family and close friends at your wedding, but this is a once in a lifetime event (or at least should be). You would be surprised at who would want to be apart of this or even who won't. Overall, I think it would be greatly appreciated by everyone to at least receive the invite to your wedding regardless if they show or not. Again, this is just my opinion. Good luck in your decision making!! -
You don't have to do anything until the wedding coordinator contacts you. Unless of course you are using services of people not associated with the resort, it might be better to get a move on things now. Also, you cannot lock anything in with the WC at the resort until about 2 months before your wedding. I am just getting a ballpark on pricing. I have my wedding gown, bridesmaids gowns, have my photographer booked, my flowers ordered, and now I am working on getting all the info and pricing on our wedding cake. The WC contacted the baker for me to ensure that no details are missed and to ensure a quicker response and I received the quote within a day. The resort has to make the request themselves in order to have the baker make and deliver the cake to the resort otherwise there will be traveling fees. I do not know the name of the baker. I asked for a the baker's website, if they have one and I am awaiting that response.

Also, my cake will be vanilla with strawberry filling. The cake will be white and it will be fondant covered with hand made sea shells and starfish. There are also other designs on the cake itself besides the sea shells / starfish. The sea shells and starfish will be dusted in a sugar coating that matches my wedding colors. Everything on the cake will be completely edible. It is really extravagant and will take a lot of hard work. So this price is unbelievably cheap!!

Since I am having my wedding cake made by a baker not at RPTB, I had to do some searching and request quotes. The WC at RPTB informed me that they have a "preferred" cake baker and sent a quote request for me. This quote has been by far the cheapest out of all the quotes I have received and I am still waiting for more quotes. I have seen the pictures of this baker's work, the cakes are amazing!! I was quoted $350 for a 3 tier cake that is less than simple. I have very specific details for our wedding cake and I am very happy that this was the price. I was quoted $700 for the same cake from another baker. That is a big difference!! (sorry, I cannot for the life of me remember the name of this baker) Now I thought the baker the resort used was going to cost a lot. So for all you brides who don't plan to use the cake offered by RPTB, I would suggest asking about their "preferred" cake vendor and get prices quoted through them. It's worth it!

I might add cups to it because I don't plan on wearing a bra unless I absolutely need to. I was also thinking to change the zipper back to a corset back but not sure yet.

My fiance and I were having a dilemma about which Couples resort to stay at for our honeymoon. After talking with our travel agent, we made the choice between Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away. We are going to be staying at Couples Negril. Although Couples Swept Away is a bigger resort and more laid back, we found quite a few reasons why we liked Couples Negril better: I personally like the Beachfront Suite at Couples Negril better than the Beachfront Verandah Suite and Couples Swept Away. The bathroom has his and her sinks and a huge jacuzzi tub with a separate shower. Not all the rooms at Couples Swept Away have televisions because of the more laid back relaxing atmosphere. Having a television in our room is not that important, but once you don't have certain amenities, you will miss them. We get to have hourderves (sp?) everynight. We can also have a private dinner set up in our room instead of sitting at the restaurants. I'm sure Couples Swept Away is wonderful but Couples Negril fits our tastes more perfectly than Swept Away. Also, I've been reading a lot of reviews on both and I find the pictures more thrilling than at Swept Away. Oh and Couples Negril is closer to Riu Palace Tropical Bay, this way when our guests leave we can say goodbye to them (we will be switching resorts before our friends and family leave) and I would really like to see my daughter before she leaves for home since we won't see her for a few days. Well I could ramble on. But I'm glad we picked a resort! It was so hard at first because both resorts are equally amazing!!

It's so nice to not be the only one feeling the same way! haha I really do love my dress and I even put it on again last night. I do notice that all the dresses I like are similar in different ways, but I guess it's because I know what would look good on me. I feel better once I have it on and I guess once my dress has all the final alterations done and it's even more perfect I won't have to second guess myself(even though I'm sure I will still be look at other dresses until the day of the wedding haha). But, in the end all that counts is being happy on my wedding day. I'm going to try my hardest not to be a two dress bride. lol

I keep doing the same thing to my mother and my bridesmaids. I send them links all the time now of dresses that I love. They think I'm insane because they think my dress is perfect as do I. I picked out my dress on my first day dress shopping. I tried on like 12 dresses or so. I really liked 3 of them and this one just felt like the one and thought it was perfect. But these dresses are so gorgeous! I want them all! =) Here's my dress: The color looks white but it is actually ivory. On the model: Another thing that makes me second guess myself, is I really like dresses with low backs and my dress doesn't really have a low back. I also like corset backs as well. Here are the dresses I like from Maggie Sottero: Sorry there's so many!

I have been seeing a lot of gorgeous dresses on the forum lately which made me want to check out more dresses online. I have already purchased my wedding dress and it is safely tucked in my closet right now. I keep finding wedding dresses that I absolutely love and start to think that mine isn't good enough. There are a couple Maggie Sottero gowns that I am in love with. I tell myself not to even go there since I already have a dress. So I look at the pictures of me in my wedding dress and I even have to put my dress on to feel good about it. I know my dress is gorgeous, I look amazing in it, and I love it, but I keep thinking well what if I really don't like it? Yet I do like it. I'm so confused. haha I don't know how to keep myself in the mindset that my wedding dress is perfect. When I first put my dress on I was like this is the one. But, it is so hard when I keep seeing all these dresses and I want to buy them. So frustrating!!! I don't want to be a two dress bride (except for having a ttd dress). I want my wedding to be perfect and my wedding dress to be perfect as well.

Well I've been in contact with a couple vendors. Selena Wong is out of Kingston, so that is a no go because the delivery charge is $275. I'm still waiting for Shelia's Bakery to get back to me, she said they deliver to RPTB, but I'm not sure where she is located. The one that gave me the prices I listed is out of Montego Bay, but I don't know the actual name of the bakery since I was only provided with an e-mail to them. I don't know who the vendor is for RPTB as I am still waiting for a reply from the WC with the contact info.

Also...if anyone is looking at doing "mini cakes" for their wedding, the price is outrageous. I was looking to do mini cakes for each guest and having a one tier cake for cutting and display. Well I was just quoted $100 EACH for mini cakes!! I will have about 30 people so that would be $3000 for the mini cakes plus $240 for the 1 tier cake! That is insane. I was also quoted $300 for a 2 tier cake and I believe somewhere I saw a quote for a 3 tier cake for $300 including delivery fees. I didn't even pick a flavor or filling for the cake so I could only imagine how much extra that would cost.

I have been searching and searching for a baker who would make and deliver my wedding cake to RPTB. I found three and have spoken with each of them. I am waiting on prices for two of them. It takes a while to get a response from them. In the meantime, I decided to e-mail the WC (Keneika) to see if the resort had any "preferred cake vendors". It turns out RPTB does have a preferred cake vendor. The WC included pictures of cakes that this baker made before and they are beautiful cakes. She asked me to send her pictures, the flavor of the cake, etc. so that she can get a quote for me. Since I have very specific ideas and questions about my wedding cake I asked her if she could give me the contact information for the baker. I should get a response today. I'm not sure what the price will be, but I just thought it was great that the resort actually has a preferred vendor and it might be easier to go that way then having to search for bakers and await responses from them on quotes, etc. So if anyone is looking to have their wedding cake made by someone outside of the resort, ask the WC at the resort if they have any preferred cake vendors because most likely they will and it might help out a bit especially with vendor fees and all.

Keneika is the wedding coordinator for RPTB not Nekeisha. -
Okay, so we are staying at Riu Palace Tropical Bay for our wedding and will be there for 5 nights. We are then going to either Couples Negril or Couples Swept Away for our honeymoon for 5 nights. The only problem is that it is so hard to choose between the two. They are both equally awesome in my opinion. Is there anything that anyone can suggest that would make it easier to choose one over the other?

HAHA =) that is hilarious and is such a cute idea for the OOT bags!! I'm sure everyone will enjoy them! -
Well that's good to hear. Did you take it on the plane as checked luggage or as a carry on?

For those of you who have done a unity sand ceremony at your wedding, did the sand stay in place by the time you arrived home? If so, how did you manage to keep it that way? Thanks!!

Heidi is so fake, literally. I'm so tired of her already. Seriously how much media attention does she need
