Emily - When we went to our friends wedding this summer they had "Bubba Kegs" and they were awesome!! I'm not a big day drinker, but it kept my water cold all day! And, at the bar they will just fill it up with whatever you want (pina colada, margarita, etc.) Everyone loved them. They put our names on ours so we wouldn't get them mixed up.

Iberostar Grand Paraiso wedding review - Nov. 14, 2009

Congrats!! Sounds like you had a fabulous time!! -
Amy - I was thinking of doing 1 raft per couple and then little tubes for each of the kids. I actually already picked up some of these up at Walmart a few months ago for like $1.00 a piece. For the tables at the reception I think you can purchase flower centerpieces and maybe rose petals for the table. The Maya and the Lindo do share restaurants. There are 2 restaurants that are exclusive to the Maya (Japanese and Gourmet) however the Lindo has each of those as well. I think I mentioned before that our friends had their reception at the Gourmet restaurant at the Lindo. We had one long table and they sat at the head of the table. It was very intimate and we were actually in a back room that was separate from the rest of the restaurant. There was even a sliding door that closed.

Emmers - We are flying USA3000 with Apple Vacations. Our first bag is free, but we will most definitely have to pay for at least 1 or 2 more. In regards to the golf clubs I think all the guys are going to just rent them at the course. When we went this summer my all the guys raved about how the clubs they rented were the best they had ever used! I think it will also save them from the hassle of toting those to the airport. I'm kind of with Amy when it comes to the OOT bags. I have been to wedding out of town where they put so many great things in the bags, but you never end up using them. We are just going to try and be VERY practical. Maybe a mug, inflattable rafts (got these at another wedding and they were amazing), and maybe a lanyard to hold their room keys. An idea my mom came up with was sending our guests a few things beforehand like luggage tags, a travel case for their passports, etc, and a spanish for dummies mini book so they can practice on the plane. Just a suggestion! Also, I think the less decorations you bring down the better. If you just use what the resort has then you don't have to worry about packing more items. We are also thinking of getting our favors from a place in Playa del Carmen. There is a chocolate place called Ah Cacao that another bride used and had brownies for all of the guests. We are going to do that and make a donation to a charity. Anyhow, hope that was helpful!! Shannon - GREAT idea to register for a luggage scale!!

(there is still issues with the family, so there is a small chance we may not do mexico). Do you think a year in advance is enough time? rose I think a year is plenty of time. Like Emmers said, most places won't even let you reserve the date until a year in advance. Also, the Iberostar does not require a deposit!! Some resorts do, but the Iberostar will reserve your date and then officially confirm it once you have made your hotel reservation. I guess they figure if you have paid to come to the resort that is deposit enough for them.

Once less thing to do, yeah!! That would be awesome if you could forward that email! [email protected]. I have spoken with Karla before too. I guess at the Del Mar her and Reyna work together.

Cute pictures Shannon! I love the bouquet!! If my sorority colors hadn't been pink and green I think I would have gone with those colors too =) Instead I'm just sticking to Pink. Amy, I hope you hear from them soon. I think someone mentioned calling them. I actually did that at the very beginning and it was reassuring speaking to someone over the phone rather than just emailing. Keep us posted.

Anyone a little nervous about the flowers. I just really want them everywhere and large centerpieces and the flower pictures they sent were small and eh. Thoughts I'm a little nervous about the flowers too. Maybe if you find pictures of exactly what you want that would help. I have heard that you can ask them to make your bouquets a little bigger, but they might charge you. I'm going to try and find pictures of each bouquet and centerpiece that I want so that they have something to work from. Hopefully that will help.

Looks like we will be down in Mexico at the same time!! We are getting married at the Del Mar, but will be staying at the Lindo from the 13th-22nd. Maybe we'll see you there! We were going to book as a group through Apple Vacation, but decided not to because we wanted our guests to have the option to buy insurance. With the group rate you can only get insurance for illness related cancelations. If you book individually you can get insurance that is completely cash back and you can get the price adjustment if the price goes down. I think our guests really appreciated this. This was just the information our travel agent gave us so maybe other tour companies work differently.

Its tough! Amy we must have the taste in music!! I love all those country boys!! You know the Lindo also has a Japanese and a Gourmet restaurant too so you won't miss out completely!

We went to a wedding this summer at the Lindo/Maya and they did NOT have a private reception. However, the wedding coordinator suggested having their dinner at the Gourmet restaurant at the Lindo where there is a back room. Though there was no room to dance or anything, they closed a door to the rest of the restaurant and it was completely private. We all sat at a long table with the bride and groom at the head of the table. You might ask them about this option. And, it didn't cost anything extra. Just a thought!
