Hi Shannon, Planning is going great! We are starting to get alot of things checked off the list. We will hopefully be sending our invites out by the end of this week or next. I have gotten a few of my bridesmaid gifts in (Monogrammed totes and flip flop luggage tags) and just have a few more things that I want to come up with to include. I've just been so busy with planning and school that I haven't had time to come to BDW =( I also just started working with a personal trainer =) I was lacking some motivation and figured if I was going to be walking around in a bathing suit for a week with my friends and family I needed to tighten up! So I've been busy working out alot too. Its only been about 2 weeks so we'll have to wait a bit more to start really seeing results. It's fun though and definitely getting me pumped for the big day! Anyhow, I can't believe how quickly our days are approaching! You must be getting so excited!! How is the rest of your planning going??

Welcome Holly!! If having a Private event is important to you, you might consider looking at the Iberostar Del Mar. They have a restaurant that you can use for $800 where you can have both your dinner and a reception. That was VERY important to us as well which is why we chose the Del Mar. I'm not sure about the beach as we have not gotten married yet. We are actually getting married at the Gazebo at the Del Mar which is very private. Hope that helps you out. Feel free to ask questions, we are all happy to help!! Leah =)

Hi Girls! I feel like I have been MIA for awhile. I have been so busy I haven't had to time to get online for fun!! Emmers we are using Playawedding for our Videography and Photography. We met them when we were down there in July and they seem great! Check out their work: www.playawedding.com. Hope everyones planning is going well! I'm just waiting on invites, which I'll share once they are done!

Instead, I'm sort of thinking of just giving them all gift certificates to their local mani/pedi place and taking the other couple ones in my area to get them done together before we all head down. That way they can come down to Mexico with freshly painted fingers and toes. Yeah, I think I might just offer to pay for their pedicures and then if they want a manicure too they can pay for it on their own. I just really want everyone to go to the spa on the morning of the wedding!

Britt - We are hoping to have our invites out by the end of February beginning of March. Since we sent Save the Dates out in September people already have access to our website with all the information. However, I think more people will actually start booking once they have to respond to an invite. Just curious, where do you teach?? Amy-I did hear that about more than 25 people, but I didn't know we had to find out what they wanted to eat. That seems like kind of a pain. Let us know what the WC says. Also, does anyone know the cost of a Manicure and/or Pedicure?

Hi Girls!! So I've been so busy with a new semester starting (I'm a teacher) that I haven't had time to get on here =( Shannon - Your invites are amazing!! What a good feeling to have those done already!! Emmers - I like the painted tiles idea, that sounds fun! I agree though that it might be a pain to get them. Just wanted to let you all know that I booked my DJ!! We decided to go with DJ Doremixx. Shannon I actually read your review on another thread and decided that he was better than DJ Bob. We were debating between the two, but I like that DJ Doremixx (Ivan Gomez) is not only cheaper, but you get more from him. Anyhow, hope everyones planning is going great!! Less than 5 months =)

I guess I'll get the hang of it eventually! I'm planning on getting married in January or February of 2011 and I think I've settled on Iberostar Paraiso Maya. I've had some corespondance with them via email to get some info from them, but they don't seem to give you too many specifics. Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say about this resort. What are you Paraiso Maya brides planning on doing in way of reception? I want some sort of private event, but don't know how I feel about the disco! Welcome! Another Chicago bride! I guess when you live up here where it is so cold you can't help but want to get married in Mexico =) We are getting married at the Del Mar because we wanted to get married at the Gazebo and have a private reception. At the Maya I think there are private reception options but you have to do your dinner first and then go somewhere else for the reception. We liked the Del Mar because you could do both at the same location for a fee of $800. If you are in love with the Maya resort you can still stay there and just get married on the Del Mar side of the resort. We are actually staying at the Lindo. This is also nice because if you get married at the Del Mar your guests can stay at any of the resorts without having to buy a guest pass for the day of the wedding (if that is a concern). All in all they are all AWESOME resorts and the wedding coordinators are great to work with! Good Luck with your planning!

I am struggling with Bridesmaid gift too! I am going to have a tote bag monogramed for each of them (I think from The Pink Monogram - Monogrammed Gifts, Monogrammed Clogs, Personalized Monogrammed Jewelry And Accessories - Preppy Monograms At The Pink Monogram) and maybe a cute tank top that says bridesmaid, but I am at a loss beyond that. I did purchase necklaces for each of them from Ann Taylor Loft for the ceremony, but I am with Mandee, it just doesn't seem like enough. Also, my fiance is also having trouble deciding on Groomsmen gifts so if anyone has suggestions he would definitely appreciate it! Thanks girls!! Leah

Shannon - I think we are going to do Brownies from the Ah Cacao store in Playa Del Carmen. I saw that another Iberostar bride had done that and I thought it would be a great idea. Also, this would be something we could get once we get to Mexico so we don't have to transport something else. My Mom had the idea of having the chocolates delivered to the guest's rooms while they are all at the reception. Then when they return to their rooms they will have a thank you note with a brownie waiting for them! Reyna at the Del Mar said it would be no trouble to have them delivered, just $.50 per room charge. I think we are also going to make a donation to a charity on behalf of our guests.

OMG I feel the same way! I don't want to start buying things when I don't have the quantity. The rafts I bought on sale thinking that my parents could always use them for their pool if we don't need all of them. Our friends actually bought some sort of sticker paper and printed their logo on it and stuck it to the mugs.
