....apparently not!!! lol

Thanks for your replies ladies! I am *so* glad to hear I'm not alone in this. I wish I could have a more definite answer from her, not to mention several other people (all on my side, hemming and hawing...just tell me yes or no!!!!). But this whole DW thing is not as planned out as most weddings so I guess the "last minute decision" will have to stand. I spoke with her again (msn'd, lol) and I asked her why she thought I was bugging her about the wedding. I hardly mention it! I told her I'm nothing compared to some brides! I'm not asking her to spend $900 on a bridesmaid dress! She's never been a bridesmaid before so she doesn't realize there are costs involved. She reeeallly wanted to be my BM so I had no problem with it, now it's this "last minute decision" bs... thanks for letting me vent. hugs to you all.

...ACTUAL QUOTE OFF MSN FROM MY BRIDESMAID TODAY. A little background: my bridesmaid is not my maid of honour (MOH lives in the US, I'm in Canada) but she lives in the same city as me so she is doing a lot of the MOH duties. So...I was happily/excitedly chatting with her about the OOT bags and how many great ideas I was getting from this site to visit Dollar Stores etc. She msn'd to me "DOLLAR STORE? You're asking us to spend $1700 on you for your wedding and all we get is dollar store stuff?" Then she added the smiley, so it was a joke...but it really wasn't, kwim? It kind of killed my buzz. In fact it really killed it. I get so excited thinking about all the little details and you'd hope that your best friend would be on board with you...but she has been complaining so loudly lately about how broke she and her fiance are - yes - they are getting married too the very same year, in which I am a bridesmaid. Gah! So, the point is, I told her she was off the hook and that I totally understand if they don't come due to $$$. She said it would be a last -minute decision if they do come. I said you're a bridesmaid, it can't be a last-minute decision! But I said I was so sorry about her financial situation and that I would do anything I could to help with the stress of the situation. Her reply? "Stop bugging me about your wedding. I know it's frustrating because it's your day and your wedding, and it's not a case of us not wanting to go, it's just that we're so broke at the moment that it will be a last minute decision due to finances." And as a kicker, I look at my fiance's 2 best friends, who were first to pre-book as groomsmen. At least I have my MOH but now I'm thinking that's it for me. Anyone else have a similar story? Sorry for the long post. I'm just frustrated, hurt, and mad at the same time.

Hey all, I did a search in this forum for any recent spanx and/or shapewear threads in general. So far I've only found one, written in 2008 - http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ighlight=spanx Just wondering if others have found the same? And if so, what strapless bra are you using? My ideal "shapewear" product would be a strapless slip to go under my strapless dress. However most products I've found only go up to under the boobs. Anyone else have this dilemma?!!

ONe thing I don't understand is that this is an all-inclusive, so why aren't the drinks included anyway at dinner? i.e. Open bar = 10 per person? Also, I was told by my travel agent that I could not or would not be contacted by Chandlyn until at least 2 months before the wedding date...but it appears that some people have booked their receptions already a year in advance? Yikes, I'm so behind!

Wedding Review- May 1st, 2009 ROR
Billisa replied to jessicachantel's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
What a well-done review...thanks so much for all your information. I actually took notes, and hope to borrow some of your ideas!!! I love that pic of you with the flowergirls at the ceremony...I'm getting nervous/excited visualizing being there! CONGRATS! -
Oh, bless you, everyone! LOL I don't feel so alone anymore in my junk food insanity. Doritos yes - FI brings them home occasionally and I always find them and finish them. He gets so mad but I tell him just don't bring the dang things home! It's all or nothing! My major, major weakness is Tostitos with the nacho cheese dipping sauce in the jar. I'll go so far as to dump the last crumbs into the jar and scoop them out with my fingers, or even a spoon. Then my face is usually covered with orange cheese sauce. SOOO good!!!

We chose our invites just last week, but they won't be ready to be sent out for at least another month (we're getting married January 6, 2010). The invites include the Travel Agent info to call to book a ticket. My FI is really embarrassed because this week, out of the blue, our TA told us we had to call 10 of our guests (we barely have even that many ppl!) to give their deposits ASAP because SunWing is only holding our fly dates until this Monday, the 11th. FI hates asking people for money, as do I, but I guess this is the downside to having a DW? Anyone else think this is strange, or is this normal procedure? i.e. tell people verbally to put $200 immediately before they even get an invitation in the mail...

well, I'm very glad to hear your comments, I knew you'd make me feel better!

Hi - I just wanted to get some people's inputs who have been to ROR. A friend of a friend just got back from a DW there last week and she said the bride and groom were not 100% satisfied for a few reasons: 1) on the wedding day, the B&G thought it was very impersonal, there are 3 other weddings (4 inc yours) going on on the day so all of the photographers, etc are very rushed. 2) there were some hidden extras too...flowers, private table,...etc. 3) because they were in a wedding party, even the excursions were more than advertised. I argued with my friend because I have heard absolutely no negative comments until now...any thoughts from those who have been married there?

Ottawa citizen article re: canceled Mexican wedding
Billisa replied to SunBride's topic in Honeymoon Forum
OH HEATHER THAT'S GREAT! Did you just stumble on this site or did someone tell you we were all up in arms about the replies on your article? You must be so relieved, good for you. I hope all Mexico brides have the same good fortune. Yes, please do tell which golf club as I'm a local Ottawa gal too and will spread the word and give them some business. -

2010 Brides
Billisa replied to leogurl's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Well, if it's any consolation, we JUST got our date confirmed this week and the wedding is 8 months away at ROR!!! And the way the TA put it was they are so professional there and they really know what they are doing so put your wedding in their hands and you won't go wrong. That being said...it's hard to know exactly what to expect and what to plan when you can't physically see the place so yeah, it's kind of like shooting in the dark for a lot of this stuff, hey?!! -

Sad - and also sad that there are nasty comments underneath from nasty people, saying they should be "supporting the local economy" etc. instead of spending all their money outside of the area. People suck. My heart goes out to Jaime and Heather. -
I'm so sorry to hear this. I've been wondering about all the Mexico brides. As my mom would say, "These things have a way of working out". Hang in there, don't forget to breathe.

Hi - my fiance and I did not want the added stress of booking everything ourselves (plus his natural distrust of booking over the net doesn't help!) so we found a great travel agent. She's hopefully going to get us at ROR for Jan. 3-10th for $1729 inclusive. She also assured us that it's SUPER simple as far as all the little details go - i.e. they give you a choice between 4 bouquets, pick one...LOL No muss, no fuss...ANyway I don't feel stressed about it other than confirming the actual date. With the swine flu in Mexico everyone is re-booking elsewhere, the TA is supposing...

Thanks FutrureMrsSharpe! I finally got the ticker to work, on my email too...turns out it helps if you change your e-mail settings to HTML, which I didn't before.

That's awful!!! Those poor people and their families. -
Thanks, now - please tell me - how do you add to your signature line? I see most of you have wedding tickers or pics...?
