  1. I had my heart set on getting married in March 2010, but a friend reminded me of Spring Break. In this case, not only are airfares increased but the aircrafts and airports are crowded. Does anyone know for sure if Springbreak is the entire month of March? Does if bleed over to April?
  2. HI utbride2010, I decided on Occidental Xcaret, you must have read my mind I just absolutely love it sooo much that I am willing to compromise with the man made beach. That would be my only complaint because I had my heart set on getting married next to the ocean. Is Occidental Cozumel just as beautiful? If it is really similar minus the beach I might consider changing. As far as the pricing ladies, the Occidental has a fab offer that since the 2010 prices are not out yet, they are offering a booking at 2009 prices. They dont think it is fair that your plans should be held up because the prices are not out yet. AWESOME!!!
  3. Hi guys and congratulations to everyone. Hi Kimmy I did not visit the RIU only because they did not respond to my e-mail requesting a site visit. When they did I was leaving for Mexico the next day. He said that they were Sooo busy that I could stop by but no guarentee they would have time to show me around but that I could refer to their wedding packages on line. I thought, hey "dude" I am coming from Chicago!! but thanks anyway. So I decided not to waist my time!!
  4. I did a site visit at the Occidental GRand. It has a beautiful gazebo over looking the ocean. Very elegant
  5. WOW. I am pulling my hair out about the same thing!! I thought I was the only one. I love this forum. Just got back from site inspections in the Riviera Maya. I highly recommend it if your budget allows. I made appointments ahead of time with wedding coordinators at the resorts I thought I would like. We rented a car stayed at relatively inexpensive resort (Catalonia Riviera) and did site inspections for 4 days. I was able to see the places for what they really are. I had my heart set on Dreams but to me it wasnt all that. I decided on the Occidental Grand which was initially my last choice. So it pays to do a site inspecton before even setting a date
  6. Just returned from a site inspection at Blue Bay. The resort was pretty but seemed a little stuffy. It really didnt seem cozy. True I had a hard time getting Candy to respond as well when booking my appointment for the visit. I am noticing that the price including airfare on travelocity is really cheap. I am looking for a place that offers a little bit cozier atmosphere. The beach location that is set up for the wedding was beautiful. There is a French restaurant on the resort as well.
  7. I had the worst experience with SunMex Travel. The manager was so rude when I asked questions pertaining to the legitamacy of the company at one point he became very rude and agitated then hung up on me. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I would do some other inquires before you commit. Good luck!!!!
  8. I just got back from doing site visits at Blue Bay, Iberostar, Occidental Grand, Catolonia, and Dreams. I emailed each resort ahead of time and set appointments for each before my arrival. Make sure you get names of who you will be meeting. When you arrive at these resorts they are heavily secured and hard to get into if you are not a guest. Using the words "site inspection" to the guards helps. The language barrier was a huge challenge so brush up on your spanish!!! It was fun visiting so many of the fabulous resorts. Oh and rent a car its cheaper than doing by taxi. All the resorts are on one strip
