  1. I'm pretty sure he's going to be staying with one of the guys who is coming alone, and I'll invite a BM to stay with me. I also think this'll add to the excitement of climbing into bed together the night after the wedding. Not to mention I've also been torturing him with a vow of celibacy for the last two weeks and he's still got three to go! MWAHHHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!! No one will dare knock on our door that night!! I agree with the others though, do what feels right. I definitely see the point of not being able to sleep that night without him beside me!! Hadn't really thought of that....
  2. Thanks for the help, ladies! I think I may have to check a bridal store, I was just hoping to not have to spend too much! I'd like something that's got long sleeves, since it is simply for staying warm.. hard to find. May wind up having to look for something in the wedding color....
  3. The bags were woven, and they had two colors, dark brown and an off white. I think these are them: La Vie en Rose - Online Shop - Detailed product :: Accessories :: bag :: STRAW BEACH BAG. bras, panties, sexy lingerie, casual wear, sleepwear, swimwear, bikinis, womens clothing, womens apparel, lingerie online, stockings, corsets, romantic intimate Only they were reduced to $7.99 each and were two for one! Great buy!
  4. ALERT! I found REALLY cute beach bags at the La Vie en Rose swimwear store (Aqua?), 2 for eight dollars!!
  5. I scoured the worlds second largest mall this weekend with absolutely no luck finding a white shrug. In fact I found every color BUT white. lol. I hear evenings get cool in Mexico, what are ladies using to cover up with when the night cools off? I've got 3 weeks before I leave... HELP!!!
  6. Wow, seriously down to crunch time, eh, ladies?? I managed to finish my DIY phrasebooks and got started on the favor tags for the sandalwood fans as well. Fiance has been wonderfully helpful now that he is done his masters thesis! He had his stag this weekend, so me and his best mans wife spent all of Saturday shopping. I may have gone overboard on honeymoon week lingerie purchases! lol. Oh well. Love the new dress, Sgt Pepperette! Can't wait to see it on you!! Am now just trying to organize myself and prepare for the AHR, which is a week after we return. Have figured out my centrepeices and ordered favors. It's a good start. Next I have to start going through my guest list and figure out who is all coming....
  7. Look up the member jpitts78, she's from Ft. Mac! And I'm from Edmonton! Her and I are both November brides!
  8. Lipstick! Would you rather eat a rotton banana or a ripe brussel sprout?
  9. I hooked up with another bride on the forum to share the costs of bringing a photographer to Mexico. In fact, after we'd booked her, I found yet another bride who will also be using the photgraphers services! Which is great, as it makes it more worth her while to come! We managed to get a killer deal... the photographer is very experienced, and interested in branching into the destination wedding market, so was willing to lower her price for the experience and portfolio material. Ask around, I'm sure you'll find a photographer willing to come just for the cost of the trip. And if you can hook up with another bride, you can offer a bit more, and still save!
  10. Barracuda lol, umm.. barracuda;fishing
  11. I agree with Jess, if my fiance made me realize anything last night, it was that I'm taking on too much! All these little details are NOT worth the stress. Have decided not to do ceremony programs (GASP!), since it will be a short ceremony and everyone will already know eachother, so no need to point out who the wedding party consists of. I did get my sandalwood fans from The Knot recently, which will go on the chairs instead (they're gorgeous, by the way!). Also going to hold off on thank you cards, which I was hoping to at least have done for the wedding party's gifts... oh well! We crossed a few things off the list, just to make life easier for now, and if there is time before the wedding to get these things done, then GREAT! YES! Relishing in the relief! lol
  12. That's a great idea, Kiera! Unfortunately, we've got people coming from all over, and even the ppl flying out of the same airport are on several different flights! ERG! I was under the impression that some of our guests who are on another airline get more for baggage allowance, and was planning to send some with them, but I've recently found out that is not the case at all. I've been reserving peoples carry on bags left and right! lol, I think we'll be able to make it work... I hope!!
  13. Hahaha, thanks, SgtPepperette, but you give me too much credit! lol, I went into full on meltdown mode last night! My fiance told me that same as you, 'breathe'. We went through the to do list and put it all into perspective and I'm feeling a bit less overwhelmed now. We've got company coming this weekend, so I'll have at least one recruit for helping me with the DIY projects I've got left. The dress looks great, Ericka! No chair sashes for me. I already can't figure out how all my OOT bag stuff is getting to Mexico! lol
  14. I went through the same thing, and was told (by Passport Canada) that the name on my passport must be the name on my tickets. Otherwise, you are going to have issues. Right now, your name is NOT legally different than your maiden name. Right now your legal name IS your maiden name. Many women never change their name. It doesn't legally become different until you pursue changing all your documents over. As long as your liscence, passport, and tickets all have your maiden name, you'll be fine. I would wait until you finish your traveling before stressing yourself out with the name change.

The spiders aren't so bad... lol, did you know a tarantula can't kill you? And would be highly unlikely even to release poison even if it was provoked and bit you? Having these spiders (we've got 4 different species, the one in the picture is a smaller one), is kind of like having fish. Just nice to look at. Anyway, haven't heard back from the poster as to how things have worked out... any progress??
  16. Sailor Moon! Would you rather a rainy day or a snowy one?
  17. I know here in Canada, a marriage is not legal if the bride or groom is intoxicated during the ceremony/paper signing. I imagine that's why... but really, who is going to know/care if you have a couple glasses of bubbly beforehand with your ladies? Also, if you are taking care of the legalities before going to Mexico, this shouldn't be an issue at all.
  18. A pashmina wrapped around your head, then around your neck like a scarf may be ok... That's how I go out in the fall and no one seems to think I'm being creepy.
  19. I used the same type of approach, basically said, if you can be there, we would love it, but if you can't make it we totally understand. My MOH and I got into it before I even got engaged (I've always wanted a DW), and she game me the same 'you're being selfish' guilt trip. Turned out that she feels a wedding is about sharing your love with all your family and friends and I think a wedding is about devoting yourself to one person, and is only about the bride and groom. If ppl want to come see me get married, GREAT! If not, no skin off my ass, I would be just as thrilled if it were just him and I and the sound of the ocean! People have different perceptions, but the only one that matters for YOUR wedding is yours. And the grooms. A little. lol, c'mon, who are we kidding? A wedding is the brides day! My MIL-to-be called earlier this week and went on at length about how she'd found a deal for $500 less than what she'd paid. Made my fiance feel horribly guilty. Turns out the package was the last seat left on a plane that was set for different dates and they'd miss the wedding entirely. I was furious. Why is she still even looking at prices? Just to rub our noses in a better deal? It could have just as easily went up! Erg. Well, there is my ranting contribution. The moral of my story is just to let it roll off your back, this day is yours. Own it. Anyone sending negative energy toward it/you, don't deserve the energy you'll give back stressing about it.
  20. DAMN! Wish I could've taken advantage! These are SO cute!!
  21. Prettyhazardous, thanks for the great idea! I think we've decided to order the maraca keychains off oriental trading and replace the chain with an Xmassy ribbon, so it can be used as a decoration. On our invites we called out AHR a 'post-wedding shaker', so I can play on words for the tag I'll attach. So much yet to do... feel like my head is going to explode. I'm going to the hall again this afternoon to do a tables/chairs count and wee what they've got for dishware. Then I can start arranging the AHR things... STRESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. We've engraved ours with 'melior una' which is latin for 'better together. <3 .
