  1. We are using starfish as our escort cards and we are putting a bottle of wine in everyone's room upon arrival with personalized labels on them so going with the theme we got chrome wine stoppers with starfish on top and they are packaged really nicely in a small box with an aqua ribbon which also fits in with the aqua package we are doing and we have aqua napkins on the table!
  2. Hi All, Thanks for your responses. I actually had my second call with Teresa yesterday and I decided on a simple and not too expensive centerpiece. We are going to get 3x5 inch square vases and fill them with about a dozen to a dozen and a half dark orange roses (which match my bridesmaid dresses). We are also going to put about 8 tea lights on each table. We also have place cards we are putting on the tables which are small seashells that have a slit in them where we are putting the actual card with the name which is pretty as well and we have our gifts which are nicely wrapped in a box with a bow. So between all of this I think the tables are going to look pretty full and pretty, I can't wait to see how it all looks!
  3. I am using Michael Steingard from Canada, he is great!
  4. Hey All, So I had a planning session with Teresa at the PPR yesterday and first I must say that everything went very very smoothly it was amazing. I feel very confident that everything I talked about and want is going to happen and be ok. The only thing that we did not get done is a decision on the centerpieces. I never really wanted centerpieces with flowers, I always wanted tall vases with water and candles in them and lots of little votive candles. When we discussed this though and I saw that it was going to get pretty pricey and I might need to decide on something else. What has everyone else done for their centerpieces? I feel like everything is expensive and am not really sure what to do.
  5. I am also doing something similar to everyone. I am getting married at the Palma Real on March 28th and a number of guests are staying there however most of our friends could not afford it and are staying right next door at the NH (I think you could even walk between the 2 hotels on the beach). Anyway we are staying with our friends at the NH from Thursday to Sunday and then Sunday we are moving to the Palma where we are getting married and staying there till Thursday as a little honeymoon. This way we can spend some time partying with our friends but still be at the nicer hotel. We are going to have to pay a fee to have those guests come over for the wedding but it is worth it to us for such a beautiful hotel.
  6. DJ Mannia is doing my wedding in March so this makes me very excited! I am a little overwhelmed with the thought of picking music for the wedding. Obviously I am going to do the important stuff like entrance, first dance, cake cutting, but is Carlos pretty good about playing the popular music for weddings or do you think it is necessary to send a list of songs I want?
  7. Thanks!! Do you have any recommendations for a cocktail party?
  8. Hi, Does anyone have any info on the NH? I am getting married at the PPR however a number of my guests are staying at the NH and I want to organize a few things there. Any recommendations for a place to have a cocktail party would be great. I have also been trying to get in touch with the coordinators there but cannot, does anyone have an alternate email?
  9. I am getting married on Sunday March 28 at the PPR and there is no extra charge or anything. I am however doing a symbolic wedding.
  10. Hello, I am getting married at the PPR however many of my guests are staying at the NH as it is a little bit expensive. When we arrive we want to have a little cocktail party at the NH for these guests and I am trying to find someone to contact but have had no luck. Would someone happen to have the emails of the wedding or events coordinators at the NH so that I could contact them? Recommendations for a location for the cocktail party would also be great! Thanks, Lindsay
  11. Does anyone have the most up to date contact information? I keep trying to send an email to the ones listed on this forum and they keep bouncing back as not deliverable.
  12. Hi Everyone, I have not written for a while but I am trying to get back on track!! I am getting married at the PPR in March 2010. I am not currently staying the Royal Service. Does anyone know how apt they are to give room upgrades to brides at the PPR? Does anyone know who or how I would speak with someone about that? Please let me know! Thanks!! Lindsay
  13. I am having mine at Paradisus Palma Real and since it is quite expensive we have a number of guests that choose to stay at the hotel next door NH Real. We have to pay a fee for them to attend the wedding but it was worth it to us to have the wedding at the PPR.
  14. I am getting married at the PPR in March 2010. We have 43 people coming so far and 14 of my guests are staying at the NH Real which is right next door. Although this was not our first choice (obviously we prefer everyone at the same hotel) it is the price we have to pay for having our wedding at one of the nicest and most expensive resorts on the island. It was more important for us to have it at the PPR and have it be amazing then to settle for somewhere else we did not love as much. We are aware of the fee that guests will have to pay if not staying at the hotel and we are willing to pay this for the day of the wedding. I spoke with Teresa in length on Friday and she explained to me exactly how it works with guests from other hotels so let me know if you want more information but basically it costs $24 + 16% tax per person. So it is costing us about another $400 and we are willing to pay this. I do not think this is outrageous at all but everyone has different priorities!!!
  15. Violet, Thank you for sharing this and do I have some questions. 1) Do you have any other pictures you could share? More specifically of your set up for the reception? I am doing the Aqua package as well but like you I want to go kind of plain and just use white linens with tea candles and rose petals on the table. You said they substituted for you but others say that you are not allowed to substitute, how did that work? 2) I am having my reception at the Gabi Terrace. Do you know if they do the plated food option there and do you by any chance have the food menus for the non buffet? 3) How much did DJ Mania cost you? Is that something you would recommend or do you think an IPod would be ok. We were going to go with the Ipod due to cost and most people say that is fine. I was also thinking of paying for the cheapest DJ option just so we have someone controlling the songs. Thanks again and I might have a lot more questions for you.

  17. This is so crazy to me! They are a lot of brides that will decide to have their weddings at the Melia if they keep this fee as most of the other hotels do not require such a high price for bringing your own photographer. I am getting married at the PPR and since they are affiliated with the Melia I emailed them immediately to make sure they were not adopting the same policy and thank gosh they did not!!

Erin, Most hotels let you bring your own photographer and just ask that you pay a vendor day pass fee if they are not guests at the hotel. I assume you are asking this question because you liked Michael's photos !!! Using myself as an example, Michael is not staying at my hotel and the PPR just requires that I pay $120 for him to be on site for the day to shoot the wedding. Most of the hotels require this same sort of fee. I hope you get your questions answered and let me know when you make a decision!!
  19. Thanks! Do you know if it is light enough to not get extra lighting or is that a must?
  20. Hi, Has anyone had their reception at the Gabi Terrace and had to have their dancing on the beach? I was wondering how that works out? Has anyone had the dancing on the beach without the dance floor? I am trying to figure out these details and would love some input/advice. Thanks

  22. Thanks everyone. Josh - do you think you could share your photos when you get back from the PPR? Also if possible, if you have time can you get some shots of the Gabi Terrace? That is where I am having my reception and there are only a few angles I have seen but it would be great to see more. Thanks!!
  23. Hi Girls, So I recently heard that the Melia Caribe changed their photography package and if you bring a photographer on site with you, you have to pay a fee somewhere in the range of $1000. I am a PPR bride but as the PPR is owned by the Sol Melia I was concerned this rule might apply. I emailed Viviana a few months ago to check on this and she confirmed that at the PPR this was not the case, there is no fee for photography unless you have to pay their day pass if they are staying off site. Now that Viviana is gone I have been trying to get an email confirmation from the new coordinator just to confirm again. I was just wondering if anyone else heard about this new policy at the PPR and what your thoughts are.
