baj, we have exactly the same problem.our families are not the richest and even tho we wud love them to be there it would cost us a fortune to pay for them.there are a few friends that have said they are going to book but i have left it with them.also i do feel that if our families can not be there i dont want anyone.but we will wait and see im not worrying about it.my h2b dont mind and just says more the merrier.the 2 that are coming with us are my best friend and husband.obviously i wanted her to be there but i mainly wanted my witnesses and someone to spend they day of the wedding with and get ready with. i am going to email the hotel later and try and put the dress photo onto here.the next thin i need to sort is getting the birth certificates and passports translated.have you thought about that yet?

no there are only 4 of us.i freaked a little bit last week when i got the paperwork.i thought you only needed 2 witnesses but you need 4.my h2b calmed me down saying it don,t matter we let them provide 2 they just won,t be on photos.this will be ok i just dont want people i dont know on my photos. we do both have big families but this is they way we wanted it.cosy and romantic.

baj, it was just the letter that was in the wedding pack from thompsons.i am going to email riu palace riviera maya tomorrow with my list of questions.i know we are getting married at different hotels but i think we all have the same questions.don,t know how quick i will get a reply but i will let you know. i am getting the same from my h2b.normally i am a planning kind of person but i don,t get stressed and quite laid back.with this i really am bridezilla but in a good way.just want to know my details for the day.i know they deal with weddings every day and they are pro,s at it (this is why everything will be fine).but they need to realise how important it is to us and deal with each of us on a personal basis.

desser, try not to stress too much.i think 2 months before you go the hotel contacts you to organise some of the extras etc etc then when you get to the hotel the wedding place and time is confirmed.the no for weddings dept is 0871 9710545. what are we like we have a bdw wedding to cut out the hassle etc but now we have started we want things to arrange and sort out.we just need the important things like time etc sorted in our heads. i have been dress shopping today and have picked 2.im going back next week.1 is pretty,simple and practical and the other is beautiful,beaded more of a wedding dress.i am torn.love both of them. i dont know where in uk you are but there is a great shop in ollerton if you are near and want the info let me know.

hi guys, josie i hope you get sorted.its a good thing that one of the girls said even though i understand that you would rather do it yourself try and split the 200 between a couple of you it should make it easier. i am on count down for monday when msbettyb comes back i just want to hear the general review of the resort. tylersgirl,i can understand that they have people who are getting married earlier to sort out first but it would,nt hurt for them to supply you with a list or pictures.it would be great if you could keep us posted on what they say thanks alot. i have been dress shopping today.i have picked 2 and am going back next week to decide.one is pretty and simple and practical and the other is a beautiful beaded one which is more of a wedding dress.i am torn.tomorrow i will try and download the pics from my camera but they not that clear.

hi, congrats its great fun.set a budget keep check of it and no matter what no excuses don,t go over it.if you go to a riu resort they have hotels ranging from 5 star to 3 star.therefore it makes it cheaper for them if they want to stay in a cheaper hotel.or get married in a cheaper hotel and move to a really nice hotel for you honeymoon?

you not crazy but he will need to do something on the day if you are not spending it together to pass his time.we have the same thing we not planned anything yet but my fi has already said that he wants to do something on the day?i keep trying to remember it is his day too. in a few months time i will be asking you for advise on this.

desser+baj, when did you book your weddings with thompson?we booked the last weekend in feb and i got my wedding pack saturday. they did say once that riu received the booking confirmation form that you had to fill in and send back it takes them 14 days to confirm your date with thompsons weddings dept.they will then send your pack to your thompsons shop (bout 2-3 days). i know how you feel i was exactly the same but everything will be fine.it did,nt feel real to me until i had the wedding date confirmed.it was a big anti climax too cause when i went to collect my pack i was expecting a real thick folder but all you get is a letter confirming your date and a list of email addresses for the different hotels.and a small list of extras that you can order. i am now making a biiiggg list of questions that i keep thinking of to email to the wc @ riu hotel. keep positive you really are getting married fingers crossed you get it soon.xx

jen, happy planning.we and jon get married 15th feb 2010 at riu palace riviera maya.this did come recommended to us from the ta.search on trip advisor and watchdog and look at reviews of the resorts you are looking at. you could also look at the riviera maya + surrounding areas blogs and see what the other brides say.

good job well done.looks great.that is the only thing my fi will have to do but i am sure we will be running around the week before we go.time is on his side yet.

hi fellow uk brides, i have read all of your threads and i think you have each answered the questions before i found you.i am new but if you have any queries i will try and help. i got my wedding pack with confirmed date last week wayhey.we fly out to mexico 7th feb 2010 and get wed on 15th. i go for my first dress appointments on saturday and we have booked a reception for when we come home.how far planning wise have you guys got? its true what you say it is a waiting game.but its not easy when you are soo excited.i think its good how we all get wed so close to each other.hopefully we will be able to help each other out.i think the forum is great i don,t have to bore my fi so much now hehe.

hi, it is like you say they have left it far too late.i would tell them that its great that they are coming but you have confirmed with the hotel on numbers so they will have to pay for the extra ones. remember it is your wedding.it sounds like you are calm but angry and dealing with it lol
