This story is awful and I do feel for her if any of those things happen. I would be devastated if my ering was stolen. I know how much time my DH spent designing it and paying for it so I wouldn't even know what to do. I do hope that this girl was smart enough to get insurance on it. I know that's one of the first things I did. My DH is Dominican and his parents live on the island. He begged me to leave my ring at home when I went last October to plan our wedding...and I did begrudingly. When I told him this story last night he was like see I told you, you shouldn't bring it with you and we agreed that I would leave it at home for our wedding even though we have insurance on it. He is super protective of it....doesn't want me to wear it in the pool for a week straight. There would be much more hassle than it is worth to me to prove that anything happened to it. I am sad that I won't have it for our pictures but I love my wedding band and will just wear that...

I just bought the blue polka dot beach bags. They only had 16 so I will be looking for some others for my bridesmaids and our moms. Can't wait until they come in. I'll write back. -

This is awesome and I love that you don't have to buy a certain amount! -
English in Punta Cana
Boston Bride 2009 replied to kitten422's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Also, there is an American Pastor who is a missionary that can do a symbolic ceremony in english (or spanish or both). There is a thread about him. His name is Pastor York. -
If you email him [email protected] he will get back to you within hours. We are using him in November. There is a thread about him with great reviews. I have the ceremony but I don't know how to post it on here. Michelle, I haven't heard from photo souvenier about pricing for their videography. Do you mind me asking how much you paid total (with editing) and what you had taped? Would you say it was worth the price? It didn't sound in your review like the quality was great. I'm deciding between them and Video Punta Cana who has great reviews and I've been able to see his work. Photosouvenier said they didn't have a video I could look at.

What I would and wouldn't do again...
Boston Bride 2009 replied to gkashmira's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I had been reading this the other day and loved it. I tried to find it again this morning and couldn't....so happy someone posted again!!! Thank you all -
Yea, we don't have 20 rooms so I'm not banking on it. For the discounted wedding I'm hoping to negotiate because we aren't staying for 7 nights but my brother has the imperial suite for 8 days and my mom has the excellence club honeymoon suite for 7 nights plus 13 other rooms with a variety of days and levels. Keeping my fingers crossed because I'm banking on the $850 to go towards flying our photographer down...my super secret suprise for Benny!!!!

Michelle, thanks for your response on the videography. You have been so helpful answering my questions!!! For rooms our TA offers an upgrade based on the number of rooms we book. So we are getting 1 upgrade from what we select. Because my TA is so very very special (sarcasm) I still don't know what category room we are booking. It's been 2 weeks now....I just want to pay for this trip and she can't get me an answer. To answer your question we are not going with a cheap room my hope is to end up in the master suite. Also, I think if you book more than 20 rooms you get your room free or $ towards your room from the resort. I had asked Ana about that when I first started planning and she confirmed this. No idea if it's changed. We are two rooms short right now but am hoping some people might suprise us and book.

Last night I think I bought the entire supply of advil, aloe, alka seltzer and first aid kits at the christmas tree shop. Thank you all for your reccomendations. The first aid kits are awesome. The prices for everything were great. I got the 10 count advil for 1.99 aloe for .99 alka seltzer was 5 for 18 packs and the first aid kits were .99. I was excited now I just need bags.

I have TA from dw.com who is also driving me up a wall because she makes so many mistakes and doesn't take a minute to get the right inforamtion. On two different groups of my friends had their direct flights canceled by the airline and were assigned a flight that gets in 4 hrs later. She didn't do a little research to get a flight that came in at the original time (I found it) and asked her and she said she had already accepted the changes. I was like next time if you don't have time to research call me and I will do it. I have also inserted my self as the middle man because people are not getting what they need from her or it is incorrect...I'm doing my VERY best to be patient but it's wearing thin. I still have to book a flight for our photographer and I might just do it my damn self....I found an amazing rate yesterday and by the time she got back to me it was gone.....ughhhhhh and there is a 3 hour time difference so I was stuck until 12:00 anyway... So to get to your expereince.....sorry I had to vent because I don't want to tell my husband (we are legally married already!!!) because then he gets annoyed and mad. I went through a similar experience where we booked very early and now all of the rooms were 35-40% off. The TA didn't offer up any information until I pressed her on this. She called her package company and they agreed to work with the hotel to try and get us the rates. I will say it was a slow process but she did get the hotel to re-book our rooms at the lower cost (some people to the lower cost some upgraded to the equivalant). We are on week 3 or 4 now so be patient and be nice to her (this has been the hard part for me). I had to stop and say to myself she is the person who can make this happen and she has almost finished it all. Hope it works out for you.

How have you completed your transaction?
Boston Bride 2009 replied to jessbgauvin's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
I have the same question for invitation boxes I just posted. Thanks for the help. -
I have 15 blue Thai silk boxes ordered directly from Thailand left over from our invitations (we had to order 50 but only needed 35) They are gorgeous. Our friends and family said our invitations were the nicest ones they've ever recieved. I would like to sell them all together for $225 plus shipping which is what I paid for them. I have just started on my OOT bags. So far I have purchased beach towels because our resort seemed to be out everyday when I visited Beach Towels wholesale manufacturer of plain and custom embroidery towel They came in yesterday and they are pretty nice We are debating on bags right now. I have found two that I like Harriton M915 Contrast Handle Tote Bag - T-ShirtWholesaler.com Walmart.com: Mackinac Moon Microfiber Tote Bag, Blue: Crafts Still deciding on this. Then we have left over Thai Silk boxes from our invitations so we are going to make that the first aid box with advil, alka seltzer, band aids and a welcome note. I bought plastic cups from Michaels that say eat drink and be married in our wedding color. A little cheesy but they will do the trick. I think we are going to put a scented candle as well because the rooms do smell a little musty. And then our last piece will be an itinerary of events. I just want to get this all done now and move forward....who knew a destination wedding was going to be this much work?!?!
