  1. Lots of gorgeous rings ladies!!!! I thought I'd share mine too. I had actually seen this ring shortly before I even met my FI. A friend invited me to a cocktail party that a major jeweler was hosting to introduce new designs and I saw this ring but a slightly smaller ct. on center stone and I fell in love with it, I even told my girl friend that I'd marry her if she gave me that ring!! jk of course. I was very far from thinking about remarrying (this is my 2nd, and last) but I couldn't take it off, I think I wore it for about 30 minutes, and they let me ....Jump about 3 months later, my FI and I had only been dating a couple of months and were talking marriage and I jokingly mentioned to him about his ring....he surprised me with my "dream" ring and proposed at the resort where we're getting married.
  2. No problem! I'm glad I'm able to share information with everyone. I was very surprised to see that they had pricing already bc I had called the hotel and they had told me it wouldn't be until August but I just happen to go to their website to check for some reason and there they were, they also announced it on their news update page. Now this gives me a way to compare prices between them and other sources so that I can inform my guests and they can get an idea as to how much its going to cost.
  3. Majestic just came out with hotel pricing for 2010 yesterday!!!!! I'm sure they'll have some specials running in the next months but its good to know that they have pricing so that we can give our guests an idea.

  5. Those are amazing, I love them! I never knew of this option to get "Will you be my..." cards. I would have definitely done something like that if I knew about it. But then again I'm only having my cousin as my MOH, and my FI only has his BM. Her and I went to see Phantom of the Opera and that's where I asked her.

Obviously FREE is better but I got exactly what I wanted, and its my own and unique. I think I tried doing it with vistaprint because I heard good things about it but when I went to upload the artwork and preview it the watermark in the background did not show so that made me a little nervous. Other than that I did hear good things about it. Ebbie475, How did you get them free? Did you have to order invitations from them too in order to get them free?
  7. Thanks girls! I looked around so much and I couldn't find anything that reflected me and what I wanted. So I decided to design it myself. Good thing I know graphic design
  8. Just got these in the mail last week and started mailing them.... I designed them on Adobe Illustrator and had Savethedatemagnet.com print them. They came out exactly how I wanted.
  9. Here's a link from the Facebook page with a picture of the inside of the chapel at Majestic. Photos from Majestic Colonial Brides!! | Facebook
  10. Thanks Josh! Thats awesome. The pics give me a better idea of the space since its gotten vague in my memory from when I went down there. Question though, what's with all the chairs lined up against the wall?
  11. QC Bride you should definitely confirm your date first with your WC at the Majestic. May is their busiest month for weddings and they are filling up fast. I was going to have mine in May but they didn't have the day that I wanted available so I moved it up to March, which actually works out better for us. Josh, How was the setup at the terrace of the steakhouse of that wedding you shot? I'd like to see pics whenever you get a chance.

Well, when the relationship ended, I thought I should live by my own advice. So, I signed up for their 6-month guarantee. My FH was the very last guy I met with before the 6 month ended! His "inside" and his mind are exactly what I've been looking for, although physically, he was not my "type". But he had me at his first message - funny, thoughtful, articulate...14 months later from the day we first met (first date, or what I call meet-and-greet), he proposed! I cannot be happier and I'm so glad I tried online dating. It felt funny telling people we met online at first, and it still feels a bit funny when asked and answered; but he is my ultimate dream guy! Turns out we actually knew a friend of a friend - so who know? I potentially could have met him on another occasion, but this way, we met sooner than we potentially could have! Match.com 6-mo guarantee works! Haha! Our stories are very similar. It turns out one of his good friends is friends with a good friend of mine. We were both each other's first dates from the site though. For our DW we are doing a symbolic ceremony March 26 at the same resort he proposed and we decided to get legally married here in the US on Jan 25, exactly 2 years after our first date.
  14. We met on Match.com. "Never in a million years" I always said. Then I went on two BAD dates with guys I had met out with friends, one turned out to be 23 years old (I was almost 30 at the time and I have a son, so not ideal) then went out with a guy that turned out to be a complete psycho. Then a friend recommended Match.com. So I said "Fine, I'll do it for fun". So I did the 6 month deal thingy. Got a bunch of messages from different guys, most saying pretty much the same thing, non stood out. Then I get a message, his picture is next to the subject line before opening. So I see the pic and I'm like "not my type" it was very close up of the side of his face in black and white but I opened it up anyways and what he wrote won me over, he was witty, sounded very intelligent and had me laughing really hard. Then I see the rest of his pics and noticed how handsome he was. We emailed back and forth non-stop all day, every day for 2 weeks, I don't know how either one of us got any work done. So we decided to meet for dinner at Capital Grille Jan 25, 2008 and it was like we had known each other for a long time. We knew right away that this was it for us, we went to several places downtown after dinner and stayed up talking til 4am. We went on our 2nd date the next day and have been inseparable since. We both feel like we are the luckiest people in the world. He keeps me on my toes, very spontaneous, make me laugh a lot and treats me like a princess and most important he treats my son like his own. This will be a second marriage for both of us (and last one). After my experiences dating after my first marriage I figure that anyone has a better chance of meeting a psycho at a bar than on an online dating site. Most men (not all) that join these sites are looking for love.

I have a few questions, and I apologize if they have already been answered in this thread, if they are silly questions, or both...maybe some of you can help me: 1. My fiance emailed the WC back after she gave him a handful of dates, so we picked the 26th. How long do you normally have to wait for confirmation of your date? 2. Is there a deposit we have to put down? We would almost feel more comfortable putting down some money, but I thought I read somewhere that the Majestic does not require a deposit. 3. Do we need to be in the DR 3 days before the wedding? I keep reading in some places we do, and in others we don't. To be honest, I would feel better getting there several days before anyways. 4. We are having a symbolic ceremony. Who performs the ceremony, does the WC do this? Do we need to hire someone? 5. We are going to a JP before the wedding to officially get married. I read on the internet we have to bring our marriage license to the DR on our wedding day. Anyone have an idea how long the marriage license takes to obtain? If we are getting married in April, how far in advance do we need to officially seal the deal first so we have the proper paperwork in hand? Ok, I am done for now. If anyone could help, I would soooo apreciate it, thanks girlies! 1. It should probably take a couple of days to hear back for the confirmation. 2. No deposits. The confirmation email is your formal confirmation, every once in a while just repeat the date and time as you communicate just so there's no misunderstandings. That's what I will do. 3. No need to be in DR 3 days prior, you can get married straight off the plane but you should get there at least 2 days before the wedding because you will be meeting with your WC the day before, possibly in the morning, and they will send a note to your room the day before that meeting, or the day you get there if its before that. 4. The WC performs the ceremony, since its symbolic it could be anyone you want. I'm having a symbolic ceremony as well and a good friend of ours is performing the ceremony. 5. It all depends on where you live. Check with your local courthouse and ask how long it takes to receive your marriage license and plan accordingly.
  16. Anna_C: What part of DR are you and your family from? My fiance is from Higuey I'm from Santo Domingo, the capital. About 3hrs away from PC.

Just another question - might be silly - but do you think they still have availability for any April or May 2010 dates? My little heart is set on this resort and due to work schedules, etc, this is when we would like to get married. I can only imagine the requests, emails and phone calls the WC's get each day. That job must be so stressful! I had asked her to give me dates available in March, April and May preferably on a Friday or Saturday 5pm. As of this past Saturday all she had for a Friday or Saturday 5pm available in April was the 16th and May the 28th. I need Friday or Saturday mainly because my family lives in DR and it would be a weekend trip for them. But if all your guests are going for like a week or more than just for a weekend then you could be more open as to the day of the week. Lots of brides have their DW during the week because it doesn't really matter, the guests are there anyways. If you end up emailing her again before she responds make sure you ask her to give you the available dates and times for April or May.

  19. Be patient. They deal with 2 to 3 wedding a day and are very busy and receive hundreds of emails daily. They usually take 2 to 3 days to respond but if a week or 2 have gone by just resend the email. The first time I emailed them it took 3 weeks to hear back from them, so it is normal to not get a quick response. Good Luck!
  20. Thanks for the picture of the ceremony setup Josh. Nice and simple. I have noticed that they use the yellow sache on the chairs a lot, I think I've seen it in every wedding. Do they use or have any other colors? I know Maritee will show me the options later on but I'm just wondering to see if maybe I need to take my own to match my colors.
  21. That is weird. They are probably waiting on travel agents to do their blocking or something, however it is that it works. Expedia actually has good prices for that weekend.
  22. I called the reservations department at the hotel yesterday and the gentleman said the prices for 2010 will come out mid to end of august. Not sure if anybody already knew this.
  23. Thanks guys! I am very relieved and excited to have my date set.
  24. Ok, so I actually got a great option from Maritee. I emailed her this morning to reserve my date (she had emailed me 3 possible dates) and I also asked about this option, thinking I wouldn't hear from her for a few days. But to my surprise she emailed me immediately and told me that I can rent that space out for $300 and still have the "free" dinner. Much like renting the Wet Bar or Parrot Bar. I don't think they mention it to everyone because of the bar being right there, so it might be a well kept secret, oops! I do find that the nicer you are to them and you thank them a lot and compliment them on their job well done, the more they are willing to help you out. I just basically told her what I can and can't afford and what I really wanted and she accommodated that. Also communication is the key, I have the advantage of speaking spanish and that could have helped to not have miscommunication. As far as cutting the time to 2 hrs because of the bar I am not sure yet, she didn't mention it, but it could come up since I keep reading about this. I personally don't mind, but if anyone would want to keep the party going another hour, of course most people do, then the Parrot Bar and Wet Bar is a better option, just ask about the open bar being half price after the 1st hour, she had mentioned it to me when I met with her. Saves a lot of money. Oh and to be clear, I totally agree about not splitting up the guests, I told the same thing to my FI about making people feel left out, but I thought I'd ask anyways and it got me a better option (she probably felt bad that it came down to asking that LOL). Oh yeah, the most important part....My date is March 26 5pm!!! I moved it up a couple of months, even though it falls during high season but it works out better for my family because of Holy Week.
  25. Josh, I am talking about the Colonial. On either sides of the big Palapa both Rodeo Grill and Tres Calaberas have an "outer area" that have like pergolas that look like the ones at the wet bar and parrot bar made out of wood. Maritee told me that the only way to use those outer areas at Rodeo and Calaberas is to have a private dinner and they would bring down the curtains to privatize the area from the rest of the guests and you can have the dancing and cake there too. Its not on the beach. I assume not many people have used that area for private dinner because when you look at the options they make it sound like Rodeo and Carabelas are only for the "free dinner" option. So my question would be can we have lets say half of the people on the outer area for private dinner and the rest on the inner part for the "free dinner" with the long table like they usually set it up there and then after everyone eats everyone gathers at the outer area for dancing, cake cutting etc. I hope you can understand what I'm saying. Like I said, you probably haven't seen anyone do private dinners there because they don't mention it as an option, but it is an option. It would be great if you could find that out for me, I would probably get a quicker response this way. Thanks a bunch!
