  1. Hey guys..... interesting thread. I love reading things like "my travel agent says wait, prices will go down..." Encouraging! MY TA says you need to book now, the prices won't change! grrr We are planning on getting married in February so I can't wait too long. Here are some quotes we got so far fyi... all based on dbl occupancy, per person, tax incl. flying from Montreal: Grand Palladium - $1968 Riu - $2000 something Grand Riviera Princess - $1960 Barcelo Maya Beach - $1880 We were quoted for the second week of April and there is a considerable diff. but I refuse to change the date: Grand Riviera Princess - $1660 Barcelo Maya Beach - $1760 I already have the date saved at the Barcelo Maya Beach... so far they have the best price so we'll see. I'd like to book by mid-July early August... but I'd also like for the price to go down at least $100 per person. I am worried about my brother and his family.... want to keep it on the lower side for them, and they are flying out of BC so it will be more expensive. Let's keep this thread alive!
  2. I have gotten pricing for February. Traveling from Montreal we were quoted $1968 CAD per person tax in for 7 days. Waaaaaaaay too expensive for us so it's looking like the Palladium is out. My TA says these are group rates (and they are better than anything you'll find online) but I can't afford that. February is such high season... but I really do not want to wait until April. Plus we've already sent out save the dates for people and many of our guests have booked the time off work. Oh well... I am hoping they will go down, but we'll need to book by end of summer and she really doesn't think they'll get cheaper.

I wish all of you ladies the best of luck - the Grand Palladium is amazing, and I hope your weddings are more than memorable! Cheers Lee I am really sorry to hear that........ I hope everything works out, keep the faith! It might not be next month, and it might not be in Mexico, but it will still happen. You are still going to marry the love of your life.
  4. What is the booking process with Rocio? To 'save a date' do I have to put money down? And if I do, but need to back out a few months later (but a good 4-5 months before the actual wedding) what is the penalty?
  5. Great thread idea! I am not in such a rush to book like everyone else here seems to be. I thought DW were supposed to relieve the pressure of local weddings and having to book everything one year in advance! Anyway....... I am reluctant to book my wedding without travel pricing out because if the resort I want is too expensive I will go elsewhere. To secure a date with the WC at a resort, is there money involved? 2010 wedding packages aren't even out yet so I don't know how people can be booking dates. Anyway.... I am planning a Feb 2010 wedding and the resort of choice does up to 6 weddings a day. I would like to think that that many weddings already occurring before I am willing to book the trip in August / September is highly unlikely. And if they are all booked, I am fairly flexible with my dates (week before or week after). It's all good. Got a West Coast attitude here. BC transplant living in Montreal.
  6. Can someone clarify something for me? Some resorts say you need to be in Mexico FOUR business days before getting married and some say THREE. Why? I am avoiding all the resorts that say four, because that basically means we have to get married on the Friday and everyone leaves the next day. How anti-climatic? Does anyone know why some resorts allow three and others four?
  7. I have to say Rocio has been really great about getting back to me, she just takes a week (sometimes two!), but she always returns my emails and is very informative. I would give her some slack as she is not accepting bookings for 2010 before mid-May and probably won't even give 2010 weddings a thought right now. (She probably thinks we're all crazy planning so far in advance!) If you haven't already done so, I would recommend reading this entire thread from start to finish. (I did!) Almost everything is already covered here and if it's not ask away, because there always seems to be a member that has the answer. I know it's exciting! I want everything planned now too! *Trying to be patient. Happy Easter everyone!
  8. Yikes! rates like that and no one will be coming to our wedding! However, if those are the standard posted rates..... it can only get better from there. I am sure there are deals to be had, especially with a group. Thanks for the info! I unfortunately can't change the date. *Difficult parents flying in from BC. LOL I had originally planned for January. We'll see. Anyone know what the wedding date booking process is? I can't remember if I had read it before. Can you save the date? How set in stone is the booking? Because obviously if we can't get a good deal, the Palladium might not happen.
  9. Just a quick question......... this goes out specifically to my fellow Canadians.... We'll be flying out in February.... any Ontarians or Quebecers know how much we can expect to pay for 7 days in mid-Feb? The rates aren't posted yet... and I'll probably be booking the wedding date before I know the flight details...... *Kinda scary..... Am I dreaming thinking for 7 days from Montreal to the Grand Palladium we can get a package for roughly $1500-1600?
  10. Well Rocio told me they haven't opened bookings yet for 2010. Probably sometime in mid-May when the new prices come out....... *I really hope they didn't increase the prices. astralmind- I am planning for Feb 18, 2010.
  11. Just got word from Rocio about my options (size of group, prices etc...) and I can officially call myself a Palladium bride! YAY Just waiting for them to start taking bookings for 2010! I am getting marrrrrriiiiiiiiiiied!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Hey guys! I am new to this forum and considering the Barcelo Maya. It really depends on flights etc... but they seem to be fairly reasonable for larger groups (we are going to be 40-50ppl). I had originally thought of the Grand Palladium but for groups over 40 it becomes incredibly expensive. I have a question that needs clarification... Some resorts say you have to be there 3 days before the wedding, and some (incl. the Barcelo Maya) say you have to be there 4 days before the wedding. Which is it? I want to get married on a Thursday, but if we get married at the Barcelo with the 4 day rule it seems your only choice is the Friday... unless you come a whole week earlier and have your honeymoon first. :S What are other brides doing? We are planning on having the legal ceremony.........
