FS- Champagne wedding dress
aqua32marine replied to jrprice24's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
What's the shipping cost for it? It's a bit too long for me so I'm trying to figure out total costs, etc. Also, what kind of material is it? Thanks! Tina -
FS- Champagne wedding dress

What's the length on the dress? -
Hi Sheena, I don't have too many details right now; I think Elba's very busy and we haven't firmed anything up. I just got the pricing information for the wedding package without a minister ($1,610). The wedding package seems to include a lot, including chairs for 20, a cake, flowers/decorations for the aisle, etc. I was quoted additional chairs at $3 pp, and $35 pp for the reception menu if the group is not all-inclusive; the $35 includes alcohol and other beverages. Hope this helps! Oh yeah, I don't know how private it will be since technically all beaches in Mexico are public, and Privilege Aluxes is in the very popular Playa Norte beach area, but Elba said that folks tend to respect weddings and are discreet. Let's hope so, I don't want speedos or overly tanned women in my wedding photos!! Tina

Hi Rachel, I just emailed you a copy of the reservation form that I got so if you could see if it's missing anything I would be sooo appreciative!! Elba told me she's the wedding coordinator, but she may have helpers, etc. I think they work with Sundreamers Wedding quite a bit because they plan to use Sabina as the officiator (although we're bringing our own so won't need her)

Hi Becki, I found a couple of cute, short beachy wedding dresses at Nordstroms, and I've ordered some online to try on at home. I think they have larger sizes as well? But the benefit is trying stuff on at home with no pressure, and Nordstrom's easy return policy. And the ones I picked were all under $200

Hi Susan! As someone who's very familiar with Isla, could you provide any insights or opinons on the Privilege Aluxes? I'm thinking of having my wedding in January there and would love some first person accounts!

Whew, thanks for all your calming advice ladies! Rachel, I haven't received the contract yet. That was one of the sources of my anxiety, Elba (and I) had requested the reservations department to contact me but it's been a week of no info. Of course, in my crazy mind this means something catastrophic but Elba informed me today that the department was moving around and that's causing some delays. If you wouldn't mind, Rachel, I would love to see a copy of your contract and some of the concerns you had? I have no experience with this type of activity and would probably benefit from your expertise [of course if you don't want to, it's no problem too!!] Thanks! Tina

Hi Jen, my FI moved to Sunnyvale about 7 years ago from Michigan, so it's probably unlikely you guys know each other. Thanks for the tip about Cabo, I have never been so I don't know what it's like. Your description definitely confirms my choice! Thanks, Tina

Thanks for the info, Willeme, and I'll definitely keep in contact with you, Rachel. Willeme, could you post back on your experiences at the Privilege? So far I've been working with Elba, the wedding coordinator, and she's been super responsive and flexible. But I'm a little worried that it's too good to be true, especially the cheap rates. On the website the standard rooms for 2 people in January are ~$150, and Elba has indicated the possibilty of a 40% discount. Willeme, if you don't mind me asking, what room rates did you get? Thanks, Tina

This is such an awesome thread, I have sooo many ideas for my bags now! I'm thinking of putting fans in my bag and wanted to know if anyone had found a cheap place to get them? I found some thin wooden fans that look nice at Michael's, but I've also seen some paper ones that look more sturdy. Any recommendations on types of fans? Thanks, Tina

Hi everyone! I'm thinking of getting married on Isla Mujeres in January 2010. I've found this new hotel called Privilege Aluxes that seems awesome; I was in Isla a couple weeks ago and the outside looks awesome but don't know what it's like on the inside. Has anyone been there? Also, I've been working with Elba on the wedding details and she seems really awesome and is very responsive. Has anyone had a wedding there or know of folks who have?

Hi Jen, I live in Santa Cruz but my fiance lives in Sunnyvale. We also have relatives coming from the midwest, and so Cancun works best time-wise for both groups (it's like an 8-hour flight to Cabo from Midwest). The flights were also the cheapest. Where in the Bay Area are you?? Tina

Congratulations, Jennifer! I am also planning an Isla Mujeres wedding for January 2010. Where are you staying? Also, who is your wedding coordinator and are you happy with them? I trying to decide among Sundreams (Sabina), Sunhorse (Katie) and Papillon (Juliette).

Hi Jen, I'm from the Bay Area and am considering getting married in Isla as well! I was bouncing between Isla Mujeres and Cabo San Lucas. What sealed it for me was finding Privilege Aluxes, it's a new hotel with an all-inclusive option that's super reasonable; it's in the North Beach/Town Beach area of Isla and really close to down-town. They're running a 40% discount off of rooms on their website right now and it's brand new. Also, a friend of mine said that the waters around Cabo weren't really easy to swim in, and we had really wanted swimmable waters. I haven't heard any first hand experience accounts of Privilege Aluxes, though, so if anyone knows anything please chime up!!

Hi Tara! Congratulations! I'm thinking of getting married on Isla in January 2010, but haven't picked a wedding planner yet. I'm debating among Sundreams (Sabina), Sunhorse (Katie) and Papillon Weddings (Juliette). Who are you using, and are you happy with them so far? Tina

Hi Jen, I haven't had a wedding on Isla (yet!) but I was just here a couple of weeks ago. The ferry system is super easy, the boat ride takes like 15-20 minutes in an enclosed catamaran with additional seating on the exposed upper deck. It's actually quite a nice ride at night since they use these cool blue lights around the base of the boat and it reflects off the water. I didn't have to deal with ferry ticket purchases on the Cancun side (our hotel took care of that for us) but going back to Cancun, buying a ticket was really easy. I would recommend that, if you have a lot of guests, to get a shuttle or something because the ports are pretty far from the airport

Daniella, I forgot to ask what the downtown area was like at night? I was on Isla a couple weeks ago but my fiance and I were too silly (and lazy!) to check out the downtown at night. Our wedding party will have some younger folks who may want to go to a bar and stuff. I know there's not much of a nightlife on Isla and it's pretty quiet, but is it completely dead at night or is there a little bit of a mellow nightlife?

Hi Janna, you're probably not back yet but if you are, I would love to hear about your experience! I'm planning a January 2010 wedding on Isla and would appreciate any advice you may have!

Welcome Daniella!! I'm so glad you're here, my fiance and I just decided to get married on Isla in January 2010. We're still deciding over wedding coordinators, so you had a great experience with Sunhorse? I've been emailing Katie from Sunhorse and she seems nice, but I'm afraid that if their coordination fee is based on a percent of "extras" they'll be pushing me real hard to get more stuff for the wedding. Did you have this issue with Sunhorse?
