  1. Welcome and congrats! We wanted the same thing...we didn't want to wait so long to get married after we arrive. For us, Jamaica was the best option. Technically, you only need to be there for 24hrs before your ceremony. We're arriving on Saturday, and getting married on Monday. Best of luck!!
  2. Congrats and welcome! Good luck with your planning!

    Hi All!!

Welcome, congrats, and good luck with everything!!
  5. Welcome! Try Tropical Weddings Jamaica - Create Your Own Wedding Package in Jamaica. They offer off-resort ceremonies. I'm using them for my ceremony (which is overlooking the ocean) and reception. They have Montego Bay locations, but you will need to email the co-ordinator for details. Good luck!!
  6. Welcome to the forum! A year is lots of time to plan the wedding of your dreams! Especially when you have the amazing ideas and support of the girls from the forum! Good luck with everything and enjoy the ride!!
  7. I agree! We wanted to give our guests lots of notice, so we sent out a generic email with brief details. Once we confirmed things, and got our travel info all ready, we sent out formal invites in the mail. But I also agree, that you need to remember the people who don't use email...so maybe a quick phone call to give them a head's up would work...

    Hello

Congrats and welcome! Things will start coming together very quickly! But you have made the 2 most important decisions already, so just relax for a bit and enjoy your engagement!!
  9. We had the same problem! We also sent self-addressed, STAMPED envelopes!! I, personally, think it's extrememly tacky to not respond...especially when you have gone and done all the "hard work" of addressing and stamping the envelope. Sorry to hear about your frustrations...
  10. WOW! You are super-prepared! Everything looks awesome! And I just had a chance to look at the link to some of your boudoir pics---AMAZING!!
  11. A New Year's wedding is such a great idea! We wanted to do that as well, but it was a bit too pricey for us to go during the holiday season. I'm sure lots of girls have had New Year's weddings, and you will find lots of info here! Good luck with everything!
  12. We also have a family member who will be our MC. His job will be pretty simple...like you said--just introducing people before speaches, making announcements, and making sure things flow well, etc. And our reception is very short, so it's not a long gig. And we're pretty much giving him a script for the whole thing, so he won't need to do much preparation on his own... Maybe you could ask someone to do this as well? I think you would probably feel more comfortable having someone you know do it, as opposed to an MC supplied as part of the package...

Congrats and welcome! I'm pretty sure you will be able to find something affordable with 10 guests. It seems like a lot of "free" packages include everything for up to 10 people. Good luck!

  15. SUPER-cute! Would love to see pics of your final product--and details about how the process was for you! Great idea to add your logo!
  16. I just read this, and my heart started racing for you!! I CANNOT believe they didn't notify you a long time ago about the closure. Our wedding is about 2 months away, and I can't imagine having that added stress right now. What happened to the easy-breezy planning of a desintaion wedding?? My fingers are definitely crossed for you!
  17. Welcome, congrats, and happy planning!!
  18. Welcome! I'm sure you will be able to find lots of info! Good luck!
  19. Congrats and welcome to the forum! Good luck with all your planning...I'm sure your dreams really will come true!!
  20. Even though that was long, I didn't want it to end! Soooooo funny!! Thanks for posting it!!
  21. What a great story!! Thanks for sharing! Welcome to the forum and best of luck with our planning. You'll catch on to the forum in no time...no worries!!
  22. Welcome! You will find everything you need and more on this forum! Good luck!
  23. I LOVE them! I was going to use these for my bachelorette, but a lot of the girls coming aren't huge drinkers...so I went with cute metal starfish bookmarks instead. I think you made a great decision!
  24. Congratulations! And welcome to the forum! This is definitely the BEST place for ideas and support! Good luck!
  25. If you are willing to get married off the resort, I know the company I am working with does weddings every day (including Sundays and public holidays). The company is Tropical Weddings Jamaica. You can check them out at tropicalweddingsjamaica.com. The wedding co-ordinator, Almarie, has been fantastic. It might be a bit pricier than weddings on the resort, but if you are really stuck on having the wedding on a Sunday, they will perform both legal and civil ceremonies...
