It's positively MAGNIFICENT! As a bride that had a change of heart and went from a super simple dress to a more formal "princessey" gown for the ceremony, I totally am a huge advocate of going with your heart -- IT'S YOUR SPECIAL DRESS for YOUR BIG DAY! While I can understand that there are a lot of brides with very strong feelings that a beach-appropriate dress be a "must" for a DW, I vote for wearing what you would have worn no matter where you got married: beach, church, garden, etc. What matters most is that your adore it and feel completely GORGEOUS!

I'm soooo psyched that you are going to be documenting the construction of your dress on BDW -- SUCH A GREAT IDEA! Instead of like, "Pimp My Ride", it's like your very own version of "PRIMP MY DRESS"! And you look so happy and beautiful -- did you check out how you were grinning as you were looking at yourself, in the dress, in the mirror?! Priceless....just like the memories you will create with your aunt while going through this amazing Dress Creation Adventure!

My FI and I booked 4 nights at SGOR for the wedding, and then when guests leave, we are going on to Sandals Royal Caribbean in the Montego Bay area for another 3 nights just the two of us for a Mini Honeymoon. I selected SGOR as the resort for our wedding for two simple reasons: 1) Sandals are adults-only resorts (which is what we prefer), and RIU allows children, so that was out. 2) SGOR is quite large, and there is a wide variety of room levels and prices, which might make attending a little bit more affordable for our guests on a tight budget during these tough ecomonical times. (From what I understand, Sandals Dunn's River is also magnificent, and we plan to definitely plan to check it out to make the most of the resort exchange opportunity)! Hope you can land on a resort that feels right to you!

CONGRATULATIONS on your pick for dress #1! I positively ADORE you in it!!! It's the perfect princess dress for your uber-tiny frame, and you look phenomenal in it! I agree with everyone else who said, "Why NOT keep Dress #2 for your TTD?" You already love it since you purchased it, and you already know it looks amazing on you, and you will have 2 different looks for your wedding photos! Perfect! And, if you decide not to go the TTD route, it would be ideal for your AHR! You're gonna be one stunning bride, young lady!

jamaicabride09 -- your sunset ceremony on the beach will be superb! The sunsets look like they are incredible, and you're right -- most of the other resort guests will most likely be back at their rooms getting ready for dinner, so the beach will (fingers crossed!) be all yours!

Yes, itsfinallyhere, you had me giggling like a schoolgirl over here, as well! I can say that on occassion, the loud neighbors in my apartment building might just be on the same decibel level as a hurricane, but in our case, I think we are safe! Oh, and for what it's worth, I got lukewarm answer from my TA today. Here is what she wrote regarding this semi-scandalous request: "Also, I have already requested rooms not be close to your parents while staying at the Grande Ocho Rios, I certainly understand your thoughts." Hoping they make a little note so that it's a non-issue upon arrival!

I'm so glad that I brought this up, then! Either it's giving y'all a chuckle or you can add it to your to-do list of things to find out about before you depart -- woo-hoo! And, thanks Steph, for saying that the walls at SGOR are nice and thick -- makes me feel so much better since you've actually already stayed there that in the event the unimaginable happens, it might just be okay!

Arrrggh...my TA, I am sad to report, is out of the office until Wednesday on business! After I get in touch with her, I'll give y'all the low down on what she says! Good thinking, Josie! I am just sort of hoping the people at the resort have been asked this questions a million times before and they'll just be like, "No problem, mon! Everything will be ire!" Or in your case in Mexico, "Si, Senorita!"

JamaciaBride 2010, SAFE TRAVELS and good luck making your decision! Please let me know what you think of SGOR, even if that's not where you decide to have your wedding, will you! Thanks in advance Butterfly, you've made an excellent choice with Dreams Tulum...such an elegant, sophisticated resort! CONGRATS and big sighs of relief all around! And avb1983: Ok, so technically, only my date and time are locked in at this point, but since Sandals only performs one wedding per hour max anywhere on the resort, then you will have your choice of the locations they show you when you arrive, and you officially confirm exact location then. I'm pretty sure no matter WHAT else they show me, I've got my heart set on that pretty reddish-pink gazebo above! And to answer your question, I saw the Roman Gazebo as a ceremony location option on 2 different websites: Sandals site itself, and our very own BDW! Actually, the picture above is from the Sandals website within "Testimonials" - if you look at the very top of the homepage, you will see it - and then select "Wedding" from one of the drop down menu called "All the Categories". There you will see a variety of photos previous brides have posted, and you may get lucky and find one from Sandals Dunn's River (I just checked the site and I didn't see any reviews with pics from SDR as of yet, though -- sorry). And right here on BDW, I was again lucky to find a previous post from another SGOR bride called "SGOR ceremony sites", which showed like 5 or so ceremony location pictures. If you're still have trouble finding what you are looking for, perhaps your could ask your TA to see if the wedding coordinator at SDR could be so kind as to pass along a few shots of locations, so you can get an idea of where you're interested in having it. And don't forget: TA Jennifer is the Sandals and Couples resort Specialist on BDW - maybe PM her and see if she has any pics she can send you. She's great, and really knows her stuff! Hope that helps, even if only a little bit! If not, just go with your heart when you get there and go on your site tour...or maybe even JamaicaBride2010 can take some pics when she goes for her hotel visits at the actual places next week?! If you say "Pretty Please!" maybe she'll see what she can do for ya!

CONGRATULATIONS! Isn't it an amazing feeling to have it "locked in" and now the real planning fun can begin?! Whew, so you're gonna have your work cut out for you, sure, but the next few months are going to fly by and you'll be walking down the aisle to your sweetie before you know it! I just booked my trip on Saturday to Sandals Grande Ocho Rios - and we're not even getting married until May next year! I am just a paranoid type of bride, and I always convince myself that if I don't "do it now" then either I will go back to order something later and it will be discontinued/sold out... or someone else beat me to it and grab something I wanted before I get a chance! Crazy, I know, but what can you do, right? One word of advice as your delve into your planning over the next few months: USE THIS FORUM as the incredible resource that it is to make your wedding day a total dream come true! I've met so many fantastic women with amazing ideas I plan to incorporate into my big day, and I may not have come up with them on my own. BDW is such a blessing! Dani -- yup, you made the right choice! The water looks magnificent, it will be a lot cooler and less humid, and not to sound like I'm rain-obsessed, but your likelihood of rain is only 7%! (I checked on that site I posted above for you!) I'm liking those odds... My only concern with doing the ceremony earlier than we selected @ 2 pm was a fear of having enough time to get all primped and "gussied up"! Also, my FI and I are both the type that like to sleep in a little, and we wanted to make sure we could get up, kiss goodbye, and then go have breakfast with our families and relax before getting ready for the ceremony. I'm late to everything, and the last thing I want to show up late to is my own wedding.... Your morning ceremony will be glorious and picture-perfect!

LOVE this thread! Here is what I decided to order from Plumeria's Wedding Flower Boutique online. I wanted to get really beautiful, tropical (but realistic-looking) silk flowers so that I can take my bouquet with me, and bring it home as a keepsake that will never wilt or fade... The description of the bouquet from the site is: Green Floramatique Calla Lily, Hot Pink Stargazer Lily, Purple Orchids, and White Plumeria.
