WELCOME & CONGRATS! P.S. I personally am smitten with the Ocho Rios, Jamaica area (since that's where I am getting married), but good luck with your location decision!

I actually saw Megan Wants a Millionaire last weekend for the first time....and right off the bat, I thought the show & that guy Ryan were cheesy, but I never would have guessed him for a homicidal/suicidal real-life maniac!!! All kidding aside, it's such a terrible waste of human life, and I feel just awful for the families and friends of these individuals ;( ------------------------ Oh, and the LA Fitness Story -- SCARY!!! I live in PA, and it was all over the news throughout the state. Some people are just totally unstable and mentally ill, and there's no way to see an attack like that coming. The women who were gunned down should NOT have died that day...and I hope that man burns for eternity for what he did.

CONGRATULATIONS, Mrs. (and fellow Sandals bride)! Your photos are beautiful, and I actually really love the contrast of the darkened sky against your white dress and the vibrant colors of your flowers....just beautiful! You two appear to be so blissful and in love that you're hardly noticing the weather in the background. Thanks for the great review, as well! Great to have a better idea of what to expect when we land in Jamaica in the Spring! Once more, congratulations to you and your new husband, and may you enjoy your newly-wedded bliss to the fullest!

CONGRATULATIONS, TAMMY! Now you're a Mrs.! Sorry I wasn't able to send you a shout out on Saturday 8/22 which was your actual wedding day, but I wanted to let you know that I've been thinking of you and was keeping my fingers crossed that your Jamaican wedding in beautiful Negril was all the you'd dreamed it to be! Hoping that the Caribbean sun continues to smile upon you until you return.... Can't wait for your review, My Friend (and wedding logo-style twin)!

My FI's Insanely Creative Proposal
islandbride317 replied to sunsetbride1's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
WOW! Most men are not THAT creative....he's surely a keeper, Josie! And BTW, your ring is to die for -- I absolutely LOVE vintage/art deco style rings, and what makes it even more special is that it was your grandmothers. Smile every time you look at it, girl; I know I would! -
Awwww, yea Anita! So glad you feel at ease, and now have that feeling of 100% certainty that you've made the right decision! Sometimes just revisting your dress during a fitting, or making one or two simple alterations can give you that all-important confidence that every bride should have in her one-and-only wedding gown! Thrilled for you, love! Can't wait to see how much you'll be glowing in your pics after the 18th....

White vs. Ivory
islandbride317 replied to SDbeachgirl's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I agree with all of the others who've said that it really depends on your skintone. As for myself, I am very fair skinned, so ordering my dress in very pale gold/ivory is what complimented my coloring the best...and I think either white OR ivory would look equally gorgeous against not only the sand, but also the turquoise waters and lush greenery in the background of your tropical location, Mexico! I think ivory is just a bit softer and more classically feminine...good luck, whatever you decide! -
What a gorgeous dress -- and kudos on setting your goal and doing whatever is necessary to reach it! Maybe you could buy it one size larger than you think you will end up being...(ie. if you are currently a street size 12, and your goal is to get down to an 8, then maybe play it on the safe side and order a 10?) Since it doesn't have a corset back, you might want to talk to the seamstress at the dress shop and ask how much it would be possible to alter it (up or down) before you officially order. That way, even if it does need alterations, perhaps it won't be as expensive to have it customized to fit your new shape! GOOD LUCK

Short Wedding Dresses
islandbride317 replied to jenninjamaica's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hi-ya, Jenn -- So glad to hear you found the DRESS OF YOUR DREAMS! Yippee, and I can't wait to see pics -- Venus makes some beautiful gowns! And one more thing I'd like to suggest, if you still have your heart set on a tea length dress...are you having an AHR? If so, maybe you could wear your more traditional Venus gown for the ceremony/DW, and then wear something short/tea length when you have your local/at-home reception? That is what I plan to do! I will be wearing my actual "pouffy" gown for the 1st dance at the AHR so everyone that wasn't in Jamaica for the ceremony can see it in person, and then changing into a shorter, more dance-friendly dress for the rest of the night -- BEST OF BOTH WORLDS! -

"stop bugging me about your wedding"
islandbride317 replied to Billisa's topic in Just venting or funnies
I'm so sorry to hear about the unnecessary drama you're dealing with involving your bridesmaid right now.....it stinks to be soooo excited about something, and feel like there is no one you can share it with! Please don't take offense, but whenever I read situations like this, it reminds me why I decided NOT to have any bridesmaids. That way, no one feels obligated to go if they can't afford it. And with the economy being such a mess right now, I didn't think it would be fair of me to ask them to be in my wedding especially since my FI and I aren't/can't afford to cover their travel expenses. Bridesmaids = drama in my book! I say if she can't afford to go, let her be excused from the wedding, and try not to take it personally if at all possible. I know it puts you in a bad spot, but would you want her there if she was pouting and complaining the whole time anyway if she DID go? I think that would be worse than her missing it, for sure! And my theory is that she is probably acting hostile because she is jealous about your wedding and all of the neat plans you have, plus she's also probably embarrassed that they are having financial issues at all (more of less no money for their wedding, so it inevitable will not be as cool as yours in the end). She's behaving like a little kid who's pouting because her best friend just a got a toy that is better than hers, so now she doesn't want to play at all, am I right?! Try to remain calm, and tell her it's okay to step down and that you hope her finances turn back around soon. good luck -
POLL: What are your colors?

I was absolutely sure that we had made the right choice. I'll admit, it was a tough call, between orange/fuschia, lime green/fuschia or turquoise/choc brown/sand, but I've always loved various shades of bluish-green, so it fits my personality more than the other combos. We're thrilled already with how everything is turning out! Here's to my fellow aqua-chocolate-sand brides...
