What's something you saw at a wedding that made you swear...

I know you know this put she could buy card stock for $10 and print free DIY downloadable invites herself if she's trying to save money, if it's time she wants to save that's another story entirely Good luck honey, I couldn't imagine having to deal with all this while trying to plan your amazing and logical wedding! Baby girl, I know, I know! You are preaching to the already "horrified choir" here, sweetness! I have offered to do simple, but elegant DIY invitations for her for FREE (well, not free but on my own dime to save her from her own misguided ways) on my own computer, my own printer, and I'd even buy the damn paper for her too, and she simply will not take the little gift of class I am trying to give her! I AM MORTIFIED for her in advance (10 years from now she will wonder herself what the hell she was thinking) but I can tell you this....if you know anything about ME, imagine the POLAR opposite, and that is my sister! (And lest we forget, this is the very same sister that originally entertained the notion of getting married 72 hours after me, but smartly, changed her date after I helped her find the mind she had lost with that ridiculous idea!) Ugh....you already know I love you, and thank you for further understanding that wacky and wild family from which I have been born! I always thought I was the blacksheep of the fam wanting to have a non-traditional DW, but alas my dear sister has proven me wrong yet again! And P.S. YES she is trying to save LOTS of money (they'd rather spend the money on a house than on a wedding), but I told her there is still a certain way things are "done" but yet, she still doesn't get it! I'd have better luck talking to a brick wall.... -

Meredith Vieira gets a little um...unprofessional
islandbride317 replied to MayaLove's topic in Celebrity Gossip!
GOOD GRACIOUS ALMIGHTY, SHE IS OUT OF CONTROL!!!! WTF is she THINKING?!? Yes, while it was hilarious, let the poor man be, you crazy cougar, you! She sexually harassed him more than would be permissible in ANY office or place of business in the US (or most other countries for that matter), but she did it on national television! And, I guess it's supposed to be "ok" because it was a woman harassing a man? I'm not a prude, but I THINK NOT! His mother was probably beside herself! And nothing looks more desperate than repeated passes at someone who is pretty clearly not interested...other than the fact that she is the hostess of the game show he is on! Oh, Meredith, while I will agree he was a fine-looking young serviceman, compose yourself, woman! -
Hey, ladies!!! Ok, so I love all of these triva/opinion games we have on here and I thought it was perhaps time for me to submit one of my own...hopefully it's not already been done before! The object is to take a well-know/sort-of well know quote from a movie and leave one word out, and see if people can not only guess what the missing word from the quote is, but what movie it is also from! Here's an example: "You ____ me at hello." To which the next poster would write: "You had me at hello." (Jerry Maguire) Think this might be fun? Here goes: "Luke, I am your __________".

What's something you saw at a wedding that made you swear...
islandbride317 replied to yamille's topic in Random Thoughts
I've got a new one, girls......(and it's for a wedding that hasn't even taken place yet!) My OWN flesh-and-blood sister is thinking of doing the "Official" invitations for her wedding word of mouth or by email and is VERY seriously considering inviting people to the wedding ceremony and NOT inviting them to the reception afterward (all of which are taking place in our hometown, mind you)?!?! Are we REALLY from the same family? I AM AT A LOSS HERE! Even though we are sisters, and I fully support her right to do things they way she wants and not at all the way we are, I mean come on already, right?!?! Sigh.....My mother and I have got our work cut out for us before this extravaganza-of-embarrasment goes off in only a few short months.....(heavy sigh again)! -
Yep -- I too, am diggin' DESTIES!!! It's got one sweet souding ring to it.....befitting of the sweet sisters I have found here!

Who knew something so little could hurt so much?
islandbride317 replied to ~Stephanie~'s topic in Just venting or funnies
If I could reach through the computer screen and hug you right now, I would Stephanie! I'm so sorry I didn't see this thread earlier...I feel so terrible about the pain you are going through. YOU are, and will always be, their only mommy -- period. And I agree that there should be a private conversation with your ex-husband expressing your feelings and how (rightfully) upset you are about your little ones calling another woman 'mom'. I don't want to sound catty here, but damn straight: YOU paid your dues with all of the sleepless nights, diaper changes, sniffles and otherwise tough days that your ex should not only see where you are coming from, but he should be happy to oblige. IMO, calling her by her first name should be sufficient! (But, since I cannot speak from experience, obviously do what YOU AS THE MOMMY think is best!!!) Keep you head up, sweetheart -- you are waaaaaay too amazing to be so down, and I am hopeful that things will turn around in the very near future for you. And P.S. OMG! Your boys are so handsome and adorable in your siggy! They must get their good-looks from their MOMMY!!! -
I was followed out of the mall today
islandbride317 replied to Preciousmi811's topic in Just venting or funnies
Oh, Dear LORD!!! HOW SCARED YOU MUST HAVE BEEN!!! What the hell is WRONG with some people....particularly men when they see something they like/want (particularly if it's a pretty girl)?!? I am so sorry you had to deal with that nonsense, and thank GOD you got out of there ok, with a very real story of warning to tell! And your FI is right -- no material object (his truck, your fab e-dress, anything) is worth getting hurt over in the long run. I'm so glad you are ok and let it be a reminder/lesson to us all that we constantly have to be aware of our surroundings! BLESS YOUR HEART, LOVE! And P.S. You look gorgeous in your glam blue dress and I think that smile in your pics is partly due to your victory over that male-mall-moron! -

islandbride317 replied to stevensFiance's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Uggghh....I feel your pain!!! I, too, went out for the first time dress shopping after celebrating a new job the night before with friends out in Philly (and in the morning, had to make a 2 hour drive) to get home in time to meet my Mom, my sister and my FMIL for dress shopping -- NOT fun, and I wouldn't recommend it!!! HOPE YOU MADE OUT OK, and have found a few beautiful gowns you can tell us all about -- or better, have a few pics you can post to show us (even if you weren't feeling all that well at the time, and perhaps looked a little "green"), I am sure you still looked beautful! -
YEA for Zappos, Kate Spade and finding fabulous shoes to complete your look on the net! I was actually looking on Zappos at getting that exact same pair of shoes to match my tea-length dress for our AHR -- a case of great minds thinking alike?!? THEY ARE FANTASTIC, and I for one, can't wait to hear if they are as gorgeous in person as they are online!

Plus, I ordered the shell for something else and won't be putting them to use for a while, so I figured, why not?! And thanks to all of you for the generous compliments!
